I emailed ebr and asked for ANY info I could have on the upcoming models and this was the reply i received: "Info in summer. First bikes in fall." WOOOO | ||

If I am not mistaken they have until Dec 31, 2013 to produce the bikes. | ||

"First bikes in Fall" sounds like 2014 models to me. Certainly not smart to START selling bikes at the extreme tail end of the riding season. So sadly, I think 2013 is a wash, gentlemen. | ||

Would be nice for a press release, etc. to come out of the mothership. We have periodic articles that are nice overviews and general perspectives, but the impatient among us would like something that looks like timeframes, etc. Wonder if they will have a waitlist for the new bikes, if they are going to come to fruition? | ||

As "lean" as I'm sure EBR has to be, I imagine introduction of these new models is quite a juggling act for them to pull off. We know they picked up $20M in foreign investment money last summer, which hopefully allowed them to staff up and design these new motorcycles and build prototypes. Now they've got GE dealer financing in place, so they can start setting up a dealership network which will sell these new motorcycles when they're available. There's no point in EBR releasing the new bikes until there's a dealership network in place to sell them. OTOH, dealerships may be reluctant to invest in new bikes that aren't being produced yet. Add to that all the uncertainty in the economy recently with the "fiscal cliff" and other nonsense. Yea, I'm sure it's a HELL of a juggling act for all concerned and it's not at all surprising it's taking a while to come together. | ||

^ Yea, and you just KNOW that info has to be out there somewhere. EBR is working hard to sign up dealers (as evidenced by the magazine articles and www.ebrdealer.info website) and I'm sure they don't just go to these potential dealers and say "trust us, these new bikes are cool!".  | ||

^ The site is pretty low-tech, OTOH the documents (dealer list, FAQ, etc.) look genuine and I can't imagine even the most hardcore EBR fan here going to the trouble to come up with all that just for the fun of it. | ||

Still no dealers in Florida. I would go a reasonable distance for an EBR, but not out of state. That would be a deal breaker. | ||

That list is dated October 2012, well before the GE financing deal was set up. I can imagine that'll make it much easier to sign more dealers up. | ||

Well I had to find out bc I'm buying a new bike now and needed to know if I was going to have to turn around and sell my new 1125 to buy a new ebr. Looks like I've got 6 months to a year to enjoy my new 09 1125cr, as long as everything goes smoothly. | ||

I like the idea buying out of state, I could buy in Michigan then ride back down to the keys that'd be an awesome start for my new bike and no sales tax? How's that work jdugger? | ||

That doesn't work in NY, you pay sales tax when you get to the DMV. | ||

Yep applies for both new and used in NY, I bought both my 1125s an my 06 Ulysses new in Connecticut. Being that the dealer is close to the NY/CT border they send the paperwork girl to the NY DMV to do the hard part for me, then just rolled the tax in with my loan. If they were further out I would of just got a title and a handshake, then would have to deal with the DMV on my own. I can't speak for Florida, check your DMVs website. | ||

Same in Jersey Frank, The only advantage is if you buy used and well embellish a bit and get lower sales tax but they catch you if you get stupid and just wack you a book value sales tax. | ||

Here's how the no tax thing works, and it ABSOLUTELY works. I've not paid tax on a bike in a while. 1. Buy the bike out of state, get the temp tags on it. 2. Ride it for 30 days, whatever, break in the motor on the street. 3. You were going to strip it anyway and put it on the track, so don't bother to register the bike. Keep the original paperwork (or the signed-over title if you bought a used machine), because the next racer that buys the bike will want it. Done! |
