SuperTwins race from the last CCS round of the season at Blackhawk Farms.
Some good close passing in the first couple laps, and I almost eat a Ducati into turn 1.

Track was really green from overnight rain, turn 2 was still damp, which is really scary.
Was amazed to even do anything that race as I hadn't been on that track for about a year and hadn't been on the bike for almost 3 months.

The RC8R is a damn quick bike. I really think that it's probably the best of the "obtainable" twins right now.

1190RS is quite obtainable, and is definitely quite good...

I pit with a guy who just bought an RC8. Dude was already fast, but now I have to go against him in Super Twins (he had a gixxer before). It's no bueno when I gain on him through the turns and have to watch him pull away on the exit. Giving up 40 horses and me being 40 pounds heavier doesn't help. I gotta say, I do lust after that bike....

technically that is correct. just depends on your definition of attainable ; ) me, id have to sell my 08 duramax and my fleet of buells to obtain one! and believe me, i debated for a bit on taking the cash that ended up out right buying the duramax and putting it down on an 1190rs... you never know though... things change every day.

At 1min 55 sec you get passed by a yellow #34. Was that Ed Key on his lil 6fiddy. Never saw you catch him. Did he finish or just pull away. I raced him back in the 70`s and 80`s.

Stirz, the RC8 doesn't have an extra 40hp over the 1125R. Last I checked, stock RC8s were around 140rwhp, and a stock 1125R should be around 125-130rwhp. The bikes are pretty close in weight too, although your additional rider weight certainly doesn't help. So yeah, he should pull away from you, but the horsepower gap isn't THAT huge. I definitely like the RC8s, though--it's on my short list of bikes I'd strongly consider buying if my 1125R and I part ways.

99buellx1, you were definitely doing a good job outbraking those guys. And it looked like there was still a lot of speed left on the table--there were more than a few corners where the bike you were following was running the racing line and you were well off that line but still appearing to keep up easily. I didn't watch the whole video, but it looked like you were doing a good job of keeping the other riders at bay once you passed them all.

Bark - Yup, Mr. Key. He's a smooth and fast guy. And at that track, that's the key, HP means almost nothing there.

TFR - The RC8 is putting about 175 to the ground, my 1125 is 145. And it does weigh significantly less than my 1125, it's 390ish in race trim. Mine is 425ish.

My line was a bit rough for a bit, was kinda trying to see if I could work my way around him in a couple spots, so I was taking a bit different line. Later on my line is more standard.

i really need to do that whole race license class thing...

i love blackhawk.

jump the rumble strips on 3, hit 3d just right, slam her into 4 knee on the inside grass, come across the track and tag the outside rumble strip(i call it a damn wall) with the back tire as it slides around, and launch into 5's nice sweeper at full tilt... good times

175rwhp from that rc8? Really? Does it have some extensive motor work done? An intake and exhaust rc8 shouldn't be anywhere near that high!

Full exhaust, race gas, etc, etc.
I know they had it all apart this past winter.

They do quite a few track days and that's a great place to start if you haven't done one.
