I just spent an hour scrubbing my rear wheel with Dawn dish washing liquid (washing up soap...LOL) and I still have a partially brown rear rim. Im guilty of not cleaning it regularly as the po did because the bike looked like it rolled off the showroom floor when I bought it. So what are your rear rim cleaning techniques? Brown doesn't suit my Black 09 CR. | ||

Westley's Bleche-Wite whitewall tire cleaner works miracles on these wheels and doesn't hurt the paint.  Several people here have recommended it and it worked well when I had an 1125CR. | ||

+1 on bleach white! Would use nothing else! IF no exhaust residue exist then I just spray down with window cleaner and wipe free. | ||

yup +1 simply green spray it on leave it on for a minute (i tried to avoid the bearings just in case) then literally spray it off and its clean as new! Then i got exhaust turnouts for my stocker and havent had to clean it since (been a few month!) Jake | ||

Try the element cleaner from K&N, works GREAT. That's why my re-charge kit has a near full can of oil and an almost empty cleaner bottle.... | ||

My '08's wheels were pretty gunked up from neglect when I got it. No amount of cleaning and scrubbing could get rid of the caked in brown/dull spots especially on the rear wheels where soot from the exhaust really cooks stuff into the wheel finish. The only thing that really worked, I mean REALLY worked to get rid of the browning/fading was this product: http://www.detailing.com/store/meguiars-natural-sh ine-vinyl-and-rubber-protectant-16oz.html After you finish cleaning the wheel, put this stuff on a damp cloth, wipe on the wheel surface. I guarantee the wheel will look like new! I'm serious. It's like a coat of wax! But you have to apply it every time you finish washing the wheel to maintain the luster.  You want your wheel to look like this? Yeah you do. LOL! Look at the shine on those wheels! Those wheels have over 25k miles! You can use the stuff on the frame and all the black plastic stuff too (not on gloss painted surfaces like bodywork)  (Message edited by rogue_biker on September 01, 2012) | ||
