" Reportedly, the EBR bikes to be launched in India will bear the Hero badge, while the manufacturer is still undecided about the branding parameters to be followed for the international market. "

Pulled that from this web page. http://www.cartrade.com/car-bike-news/hero-motocor p-joins-hands-with-ebr-to-develop-a-superbike-by-2 013-116210.html

Will they put out the bikes under the hero brand? Will it be the same for buell fans? I like the fact they will have a bike out next year. Wouldn't be tthe same with hero splashed across the side.

My other question is. Can it still claim to be an American motorcycle? Am I the only one uncomfortable with this?

"EBR, which was known as Buell Motorcycle Company, is a subsidiary of Harley Davidson."

Journalists are morons.

You don't really think a $625 motorcycle would be considered an EBR and American, do you?

Let them sell 2M of these mopeds, and get us some 1190RR for $15k

I suspect the only part of a US-market EBR motorcycle (RX, AX, or SX) that is a "Hero" part...would be the funding to get production up and running, and the supplier contacts to get us the economies of scale we need, in order to see an EBR priced in the teens.

Personally, I can't wait. Much as I love flogging the crap out of my Ulysses, and admire the hell out of my CR's performance...I'm dying to throw a leg over the "next generation".

I can only imagine...

Why would anyone imagine that Hero would be selling EBR motorcycles? Did you read the press releases about the deal?

EBR is providing engineering consulting services to Hero. Hero is sponsoring the EBR racing team.

Is Amsoil going to be selling EBR motorcycles?

Did Fiat sell Yamahas when they sponsored the factory Yamaha MotoGP team?

^^^ Agree. I find it kinda hard to base any conclusions on that article -- the facts reported come into question if you take into account that the journalist who wrote the article was so stupid that he said that EBR was a subsidiary of H-D. It's silly to base any speculation on that story -- the journalist who wrote it was a total idiot.

Wanna know what EBR and Hero plan to do? Wait for a press release from EBR and Hero and then you'll get the facts. Right now, you're putting all your faith in the accuracy of some third party gossip web site that hires idiots to write their copy.

I'd rather wait until we get word from EBR and Hero about their future models (outside of the collaboration on that scooter), before I actually start dreaming and wishing about how to get an EBR bike in my garage.

However, I believe a KTM Duke 200 is around $2500 USD over in India (130,000 INR); and that is kind of a superbike over there, and that might be what Hero is going after (if we're stirring the pot this early). Not exactly a superbike by our standards, but it is not bad from some of the reviews.

Don't quote me on any of this, I am not 100% sure.

" at the event Munjal also added that the first product from this tie-up would arrive by early 2013. And though it would not be a 1000 or 1200cc bike, it would be a big sporty bike aimed at the youth and would feature first of its kind features and technology. "

Let's hope this is fake as well. That was from the Top Gear site. http://www.topgear.com/india/bike-news/its-hero-eb r-now/itemid-50

I really hope that EBR don't decide to let Hero build anything that resembles a sports bike (or even the components for one), because their current build quality is sh*t and they have a long long way to go to even get close to modern sports bike quality. Hero may make squillions of bikes a year, but that doesn't make them any good (unless you want a taliban taxi of course)!

How does taliban taxi figure into this? This is India we are speaking of, not Afghanistan.

Next time you see news footage of Afghanistan, take a look at the bikes they ride. They are all Chinese or Indian built 125cc Honda 'clones'. Hero, Bajaj and all the other Asian 125 manufacturers supply the whole sub continent with cheap and cheerful 2 wheel transport, but that doesn't imply they employ any quality control ; ) Just stack em high and sell em cheap!

I worked in Egypt for four years an I seen first hand the crap they call world quality. The bikes was all Chinese or Indian. I seen some hero/hondas and i wasn't impressed. I was hoping they would have partnered with can am like originally thought. I guess you take the funding from whomever or wherever you can get it. I want a EBR bike in my garage, but if they are gonna be built in new Delhi, I dunno. Let see how this partnership goes and hope for the best. Go EBR!

The biggest displacement Indian motorcycle is the Enfield 500 single. That company has built up it's quality over the years. I suspect the Hero is sticking to what was stated in the beginning--EBR is the R&D powerhouse that will allow them to build probably 250cc "sportbikes" which would claim to have inherited tech from the EBR racers. They would be "Hero EBR race replicas" in appearance and styling for their market. Don't think there is a mass-market for 1190s there; me personally, still several years worth of saving to be able to afford one. YES, I would love to have an 1190 "Ulysses" soon!
