I am looking at getting a LED tail light for my 2009 1125R. I am running the stock license plate holder and blinkers since the stock setup provides a place for me to hook my tail bag to. Thus, I don’t need the LED tail light version that also illuminates the license plate (or shines light down on the license plate). Also, I don’t mind crimping on new electrical spade connectors if have to. There are a number of places to buy the LED tail light from: - American Sport Bike - EBR - HD dealer (get the 2010 1125R tail light) Does anybody have any recommendations on where the best place to get the 1125R LED tail light from? Also, American Sport bike has a custom made LED part that is apparently better quality (plated through-hole solder connections), but it is expensive, and to get the clear lens, you then have to pay 40 bucks just for the clear lens. Is this higher quality version worth it? Thanks, John K. | ||

Best solution is the XBlights, best solution on a budget is the 2010 tail light, which is available from American Sport Bike, EBR, and your local dealer like you mentioned. No experience with the more expensive light that American Sport Bike sells, but I can tell you for sure it ain't as good as XBLights. | ||

The LED tailight that AS sells is $130 I think, and that price includes the price of the clear lenses. It's a great conversion. I did mine for my Firebolt and my 1125R. It goes perfectly with the white rear LED turn signals. The XB Lights cost more doesn't it? | ||

the xblights units run from $197 to $259. i bought one for my xb12r, then switched it to my cr once i started riding it more. i use the brake light modulator from American Sport Bike with the light, and it is blinding at night! worth every penny!! | ||

I got one off amazon for 100 bucks it has integrated turn signals and a smoked lens. It has been on for 3k miles and works perfect. I've always been through some serious rain storms and still no issues... | ||

I'm thoroughly happy with my 2010 LED taillight. Bright enough to be seen. You might not be able to see me from outer space, but it gets the job done. $82 from American Sport Bike. | ||

I made my own, bought individual LED's and resistors from a store here in Florida called Skycraft. It started by me purchasing a Harley LED brake light replacement, didnt know it was a 2 wire setup. So I made the "constant on" lights and installed Harley light to come on when I hit the brakes. I cant figure out how to add a pic! Help! | ||

I have the first light Robert made for the 1125R. It is worth every penny, extreme build quality. You cannot find a better taillight than XBLights.com I got the integrated clear and it's still as bright as the day I got it 4 years ago. Z | ||

Question on the brightness of rear tail lights--can you get a Fix-It Ticket for them being overly bright? One can argue that such a bright tail light hinders the visibility of traffic behind you because you end up blinding them. There is also a counter argument about your overall visibility at night. If you want to maximize your visibility in the dark, a reflective vest is the best solution. Research has proven this. There is also battery operated helmet lights and reflective helmet strips. Having said that, it is cool to have bright tail lights too.  | ||

Yep, they are hand made and built to order. I bought a pair during a sale he had a few years ago, I don't recall the actual wait but I believe it was a little under a month.

It is a tail light, not a flood light, it isn't blinding. It is brighter than stock, but there is no way you won't be able to see whats going on. You will notice the rider is indeed braking and not just dragging the lever, and you will still notice everything else going on in traffic.
Those are great in conjunction with the tail light. You can still see the reflective stripes on my suit and luggage at night with the xblights tail. | ||

Guys - thanks for the info. Does anyone else have any recommendations for the rear LED tail light? Ridegreen200 – the LED tail light I am possibly interested in at American Sport Bike is the one for $57 (p/n 17383) (not $82 - p/n A17383). The one for 57 bucks does not have the down-ward lighting, which is A-OK for me since I like the stock license plate holder (doubles as a cheese grater) with the built-in license plate light. I can't say enough good things about the XBLights tail light. I've got them on both of my Buells that will fit them (and I'd have one on the Blast if it was an option!). They're worth every penny in visibility. The flasher module is well worth it as well. I noticed a significant reduction in tailgating - I used to have little to no impact on tailgaters with flashing my brake light. The strobing and LEDs made a huge difference. Yes, they're expensive. And yes, they're worth it. IMO. |
