Yes exact same shims, the parts listed in the parts book are the V-rod part numbers too. |

I sent the beast to the "Experts" for the valve adjustment. 
Road the bike home today...oil all over the rear cylinder, belt and tire. My guess is the bike leaked 1/2 - 1 quart of oil. I guess they should have read the advise from this thread.
Any thoughts as to whether a drive belt can get soaked with oil and remain ok??? |

Should be OK.
My first valve check was started by me but finished at a dealer(warranty cam replacement).
Rear valve cover gasket didn't seat and I lost a quart or so.
Still running that belt at 28k miles.

They probably did not get the gasket back on correctly on the rear valve cover. It is not easy to get back on, and you sure can't do it in a hurry and expect good results. I went around mine with a small inspection mirror and a flashlight to make sure it was really in place before bolting down my valve cover. I would demand a new gasket, and maybe a new belt too. |

That gasket is a thick silicone one.
When mine started spewing, I loosened the cover, tucked it in and re-tightened.
That was 16k miles and another valve check ago.
Belt and gasket are still fine.
Is it worth rotating the engine and 200 bucks for a belt?
Not in my world.

You can't rush putting those valve covers on. As a matter of fact, you can't rush any of the procedures on engine rotation and valve inspection. If you do, you will get frustrated and screw something up in your rush to finish.
This is why I did the job myself. It was a long, learning process for me. But I know it's done right and I have the time to double check my work. |
