Thank you Blake, I'm glad at least someone understood what I meant. People on here remind me of reporters, they only hear what they want to hear, then intentionally take things out of context and make a big fuss over nothing.

quote:

You know, you don't have to read it if you don't want to...
Your duty is to read it...

Now that confuses me. Do I read or not? I would love to be able to read every post on here, but it is too busy and I don't have the time, so I try and skim over the threads to see whats up. Usually problematic posts get reported anyway.

quote:

Just be realistic with yourself.

Probably the best post in this thread. : )

quote:

I don't see how paying MORE money for an extended warranty is a wise plan.

I agree with this too. Short of a major engine failure, you aren't likely to recoup your cost for getting the extended warranty.

quote:

I started riding around at 5k+ rpm to "protect" the stator. Now I do it because it is just plan FUN! Being right on the verge of the meat of the power is exhilarating. I LOVE it. Good for the stator? Maybe. Good for the soul? DEFINITELY!

I tried this over the past week. My observations were that the bike runs great at 2500-3000RPM. The bike has an annoying buzz at 5000-6000RPM. The bike gets 45MPG average over a tank at 2500-3000. It gets 31MPG average for a tank at 5000-6000. It takes me 2 tanks of gas to travel 400 miles at 2500-3000, but it takes 3 tanks to go the same distance at 5000-6000. Voltages looked the same at both rpm rangers. I have a Keda RT1 pipe, and it was tolerable at low RPM, but it nearly got me pulled over when I had it at five and a half. I can't vouch for tire wear and valve tightness, but I doubt running the motor twice as fast will have a positive effect on them. I don't know how you guys do it, I can't see it as being practical on the street. Whatever floats your boat though.

quote:

I am sure there are a few owners of Buell 1125's who would really appreciate your knowledge and ability to fix this problem that HD and Buell can not fix, but you claim you can, truely you are a God.

I would imagine its the same way many of us have fix it. You will have to draw your own conclusion on that one.

quote:

I suspect if Blake actually owned a 1125R and experienced the stator failure(s) his tune would change.

As I had a CR with two failures, I found it more annoying than anything, but I still got it taken care of.

quote:

It would seem that froggy doesn't mind paying substantial amount of money for defective product.

When it is easily fixable, why would I mind? Nothing in life is perfect.

quote:

I would on the other hand voice my opinion [whining per froggy's description]often rather than laying down and being walked on!

Well nobody here cares, nobody here can do a damn thing about it, you are just wasting your time and energy. You could of fixed yours by now, but what do you want to do?Sit around, twiddle your thumbs, and cry.

hat is bothersome about this forum layout is that it is hard to see all the complaints about one topic so a lot of separate threads are created causing a very cluttered and ultimately negative look towards this issue.

I was thinking last night of moving all new stator related threads into a new subsection just to keep the clutter together. Would you agree?

Froggy,

"My observations were that the bike runs great at 2500-3000RPM."

Honestly, you are the ONLY person I have ever seen to make this claim. Now, you do say it often, but still...NO ONE else seems to be able to ride their 1125 like this.

My bike is smooth as glass at ~4500-5500. 2500 is lug city. Nothing is worse on a motor that lugging.

"The bike gets 45MPG average over a tank at 2500-3000."

At 2500rpm the motor is making ~20hp. Why someone would buy a ~125rwhp motorcycle to maximize fuel economy and only use ~20hp amazes me to this day but "to each his own". A blast probably makes similar HP...but probably gets closer to 60mpg doing it. That would be even cheaper to operate. Cheaper tires, cheaper brakes, etc.

Since you have got 2 failures, maybe there is some validity to Jdugger's claims.

Erik Buell Racing probably reads your posts and cries.

ac

I only get lugging below 2500 if I am in 6th, sometimes 5th. Other than that it is smooth regardless of gear. It was riding a decently steep uphill in traffic, it was 2500rpm at 25mph (3rd gear?), it was fine, no complaints.

With my Blast out of commission (damn carburetor), I am stuck riding my gas guzzling and tire eating twins. I don't even own a car, I have to coordinate with my family to use one of theirs in the rare event I require 4 wheel transportation.

Oh, and using only 20hp or not, the bike makes a fantastic tourer, and still handles great even in neutral with the motor off. : )

Say what? It is terrible at that rpm range. Id guarantee mine will stall for sure at 2500 in first. Mine (an R) idles in first at about 25 and is about to stall (and has)but yours magically can do it uphill in 3rd?

id prefer people were atleast honest in their posts be they whining or boasting.

Get your bike fixed. I have both an R and CR that do it fine day in and day out. I am often looking for 7th gear by time I hit 45mph.

We know of your fuel economy hijinx.

Your running race ecm and kenda on your R?

Might be the difference. Mines stock as of yet.

Both bikes with Erik Buell Racing Race ECM for the Erik Buell Racing pipe, I got them before they offered the various pipe flavors. RT1 on the CR, stocker on the R.

I have a race ecm on my R also...it is better...but still lugs at 2500rpm in 6th. Note: I didn't say "surge" I said "lug"...as in 20hp isn't enough hp to move the bike cleanly.

Stator Harness on that 09?

lets remember, froggy weighs less than a full tank of fuel. the bike, with him on it, is only moving....the bike, basically.

stand next to it and start the engine with the transmission in gear, and it'll do the same thing

Not on the race bike.

On the B bike, yes, but it's only been there for 1,000 miles or so.

It would be great if there was a stator thread that just had constructive criticism and ideas on remedies to the problem. Then it would be a valuable resource for everybody that suffers from a failed stator.

All of the whinging and backbiting should be removed ...

I'm with Froggy too.
I have seen 38 mph in 6th gear, smooth on a level flat road.

I can idle in 1st(7mph) and 2nd(11-12mph).
3rd+ needs to be above 2000 to smooth out.

I tried my bike this morning. At 2500rpm in any gear above 3rd my bike is lugging. ANY throttle input to accelerate a bit resulted in lugging the motor.

That I can get a video of, actually, I can go even SLOWER in 6th gear, about 35 mph. I think it's turning at about 2100 rpm there.

Also, just a minor correction, it's "KEDA" not kenda, thanks. Not sure who started calling it that, but I've seen it before on other sites as well.

Did you not state sometime back in another thread that the engine did not like this at all?
What did you mean by that...severe lugging?

The stock ecm will jerk and cough, the race ecm does considerably better. I've stated on several occasions that the race ecm is MUCH better than stock and that I've rode mine at very low rpm in various gears without much trouble. Go below 2k rpm, yeah, it will get a little rough and get some driveline lag regardless of what gear you're in.

I don't know for sure what Erik Buell Racing did in the extreme low range, but keep in mind, this is supposed to be a street version of a RACE bike, not a cruiser. It's MEANT to be ridden very very HARD. I run mine mercilessly a lot of the time. Leaving work, I'll usually bounce off the rev limiter at least 3 times going up the ramp to the highway. That said, I also pussyfoot around while I'm in town, I have an exceptionally loud RACE exhaust on my bike (an RT-3 at the moment) and I don't really need to wake the dead at 5:30 in the morning.

I try to play nice in town, but hitting the highway, it's pretty much ballz out going up the ramp. I must say, having a loud pipe has saved my butt more than once. I've had people start to drift over on me while on the highway, just a quick blip of the throttle usually cures that problem. I've seen people throw their cell phones up in the air, to the back seat, one time out the window at me, but not one has swerved any closer once they knew I was there. I'd have been run over for sure with the stock pipe though. I just wish they'd quit that damn texting and driving shit. Someone's going to get rear ended soon enough, I just hope it's not me getting it because some jackass wasn't paying attention to the road while they were texting or on the phone.

Damn, where was I going with this?

The same way Frank (Froggy) did. Have an '08 stator installed.
