Others will endure the myriad recalls and fixes many dealers just have clue about. Such is life with the 1125R.
I don't think 2 counts as a myriad 
Bike ownership is a VERY personal thing, I'm not sure there's another inanimate object that actually engages you quite so much.
Moving on from the 1125 is the right thing for some (not for me - not anytime soon) but then again I've been lucky in that my dealer is happy to listen to me when I diagnose the problems for them and tell them the part numbers to order to fix stuff.. They even seem to have a reasonable stock in or can find them quickly enough when needed.
I'll get the stator rewound when/if I need it and that's the only "weak" component on the bike. I just bought a Buell touring seat for my good lady and we're looking forward to a lovely summer.
I think the ZX10 is an awesome piece of kit, I am sure it'll be great fun and you'll be very happy.
As has been mentioned before, I would have suggested hanging on to the Buell and buying a second bike for any "off" time.
I just picked up a very nice ZZR1100 (ZX11) with full Givi luggage and 22k miles for $2500, it cost $80 a year to insure (full cover) adding it to the Buell policy so now I have a (very nice) "spare" bike and something completely different for the long distance touring we do regularly.
I can keep the 1125R for "hooning about on" and some light "touring" duties.
We took the ZZR to the beach today (about 130 miles round trip) and it was rock solid cruising at 120MPH two up with the luggage fitted. It even handles well enough (for a big old bus LOL).
If I had to have just one bike in the garage I'm not sure if I'd choose to keep the 1125.... probably...but it's not a certainty. Fortunately there's no reason to only have one bike at a time |

I paid $7,600 for mine OTD during the firesale, so if i could get $6k from a dealer i think that is a great deal. If i had bought an r6 or jap bike new, i would have lost a lot more then $1,600 in a year. As far as the problems, The buell is rock solid imo. The only thing i that worries me is the stator, but I am getting an electrical engineering degree, so I can take care of that with an aftermarket volt reg and rewind the stator. Many bikes have stator issues, not just buells,
Dream on lol. I've had nothing but problems with my bike and the zx10r could have 5 recalls for all I care.

Do u want the number for the dealer, they are legitimately offering $6k for 1125's. They said the market is rebounding and they can sell them for $7000. |

San Diego is a Buell hot spot. Two different Buell clubs down there: my friends in the SCAB group and an even larger San Diego club. I think the latter even have some You Tube videos up. They can probably offer better trade-in value down there. -Tutt |

San Diego is a Buell hot spot. It is a town that was built around the US Navy and Marines. They own that town pretty much. Oceanside is another Buell hot spot. Lots of servicemen and women there who love sportbikes and like the idea of an American sportbike.
American Sportbike is located in the San Diego area (inland of San Diego). San Diego Buell is one of the best dealers for Buell in SoCal. |

They accept tradins but not 1125r's.
So you know for a fact they take EVERY other bike, just not a 1125R or are you making a HUGE assumption because they didn't like your Buell? Why don't you ask them? I guarantee the number of bikes they are not willing to take on trade far outweighs the late model Japanese/European trade ins they are looking for.} |

I hear about bikes changing hands for 4k, but a year ago I had to drive four hours to Dallas to get mine, paid 7K with 3000 miles, and was happy to have it. Ebay is not the real world price. You can't compare motorcycles to other items traded on Ebay, as most people are looking for a local sale so they can inspect the bike before committing to purchase. |

So far, the sportbike fun roads don't have the traffic outside of a holiday weekend. The only time it gets backed up in the backroads is when there is a HOG parade!
The freeways can be daunting. But since CA allows lane splitting it makes up for it big time.
That and the fact that the Central Coast and northern Coast of CA is absolute sportbike heaven with no traffic, it makes the traffic in the big cities worthwhile. |

I know someone trying to sell their 2010 Hayabusa and they can't get any bites for $7k either!
I sold my Firebolt for $3k and it took me a while. Most people were window shoppers.
The truth of the matter is, you need a lot of luck and patience to sell a bike. And if you are asking close to $10k, good luck. YOu most likely will not sell it as most people do not have $6k-$10k laying around. They need loans to get there. So this argument about whether you can get $7k for your 1125R is moot. Dealers can do it because they give out loans. Private party, forget it! |

Trade In value probably.
'08 1125R prices are hovering around the $5k mark. More for newer models. |

6 months ago I got $5600 for my '08 with 10k miles and white plastics.
It was also nicely equipped with radar detector, laser jammer and GPS, tail and tank bags. |

If you aren't selling your bike, then who cares what the resale value is?
I plan on riding my Rs for at least a couple more years until hopefully the Erik Buell Racing bikes are in a reasonable price range for the average person. THEN I will worry about resale value. It will certainly hurt less to sell a 5-6 year old bike for $3,500 than a 2-3 year old bike for $5,000. |

They quoted me $6k for an 09 cr with 5k miles. |

In my personal opinion after many years of buying/selling sportbikes in SoCal, these are good prices that reflects the sportbike market in SoCal.
It has very little to do with it being Buell or 1125R's. Japanese sportbikes depreciate just as quickly if not more so. These things depreciate fast in the North American market! In 2008, I paid $8k for a brand new 2007 VFR800 that had a sticker that was $10k. It depreciated $2k by sitting there a year without mileage!
My friend just bought a 2009 BMW R1200GS for $15k with 6k miles on it. A similarly equipped new 2011 model was $24k OTD so $22k MSRP! So his 2009 depreciated $6k in two years! Whew! Welcome to the used bike market!

Just chiming in here. I mostly have taken everything i read on here with a grain of salt. But on this matter here is my personal experience as i just sold my 1125r. Listed for 7500 then 7000 then just needed to get rid of it and sold it for what i owed on the bike.......6000. Also included were a new jacket helmet stand spare front wheel. I knew going in that bikes depreciate quickly so i was lucky to have sold it. Do i miss my bike? Hell yeah. Do I know im gonna get another bike? Hell yeah. so why do people keep putting people down for saying they sold their buell? Why question what price they got for it? What it comes down to is some people will sell for more than they paid some less. Some will sell and never look at a buell again.( i have owned 2 so far).some will only buy buells. Just relax and enjoy the ride while you have it. Who cares what it sells for. |

Agreed. If you aren't in the market to sell, it's moot unless you sit in the garage and lament about how little your bike is worth. |

Ridenusa41 the zx only has 101 miles so its still in break in period and i gotta keep the rpms in range but i can say its hard to compare an inline 4 to a v. One thing i always remember is when you compare engines and the stats on them you gotta remember these bikes are all awesome. The stats are on a closed course with professional riders most of the time and they are so close to each other it would take a pro to really notice a difference on a lot of it. Lets face it most of us including me will rarely put our bikes to the limits they are designed to be at. Riding on roads designed for water run off instead of a track is a huge consideration when opening it up. Thank you Keith Code. the zx definitely out accelerates the 1125 on the top end as an inline should not to mention I'm comparing a bike with 22k to a bike with no miles on it. As far as comfort and ergos the buell has it hands down. Ive already ordered the gel seat for it. As far as handling in the turns I am surprised to say the zx definitely out handles the buell. This thing dives into corners and holds its line better than any other machine Ive ever ridden. And Ive ridden a lot from all markets Japanese European and American. I am very pleased with this bike so far. |

"Bike" magazine from England (my favorite mag) just gave the ZX a very high rating, like the new standard for liter class performance and road use, liking it better than the Honda and the BMW. |
