Thanks for the insight Dris.

I bought the ecm specifically to test it on the RT-4. If it worked the way I expected, it would have saved Erik Buell Racing a bit of dyno time. It didn't, so they will be getting the pipe to do tuning with. The whole reason for doing it was simply to test a theory in the quickest way I had available. I saw 132-137 hp at the wheel again, depending on the configuration. I tested with a K&N and then stock air filter (no difference) and with/without the airbox lid. The front to rear balance was off, one was at 13:1 and the other was 14.5:1 or more. This pipe does run differently than the RT-3.

Based on what I've seen so far, stock, my bike made 122-123 hp at the wheel. The highest number I've seen with various mods so far is 136-137 although I don't have the dyno chart showing it. American Sport Bike did the shootout and oddly enough, their dyno matched pretty close to what mine did locally, 122 hp stock. They got 137.8 out of the RT-3 (a wee bit more than the TH) and they targeted 13-13.5 a/f ratio. Erik Buell Racing took it beyond that by a good little bit.

I observed 137 hp on Erik Buell Racing's dyno with the RT-4 on their standard race cal. Mine matched that here locally, but again, I don't have the chart to show it. Different dyno's show different numbers, but when things keep matching up with similar numbers, that tells me they're not that different. 1-2 hp, sure, but not 10.

American Sport Bike's dyno matched what I see local, Erik Buell Racing's matched what American Sport Bike had, so I think the local dyno isn't off too far. If Erik Buell Racing tells me that the RT-3 made over 140 hp (it was more than that though) on their dyno, I'll take that to the bank. To me, that equates to a 20+ hp gain over stock and that's at the wheel. Not many slip-on pipes out there can do it. I can name 3 that will make more than 15 hp over stock. Mine, Barker and Drummer. Full systems are not included in this, they're usually 2x as expensive or more.

Keep in mind, I'm just ONE guy doing this, I don't have my own personal dyno, full service shop or anything else at my disposal. I work out of a 2 car garage and it's pretty well packed now.

So, to answer your question of "what did we learn here?" I guess it's that I make 4 different pipes for the 1125 that are capable of making a LOT of power when tuned correctly. I also learned that I'll leave the tuning to the professionals, Erik Buell Racing. I'll just keep building some kick a$$ pipes.
