this is not a descrimination question based on skin color. just an observation of what i have seen online and in my local riding area. how many people do you know that darker skin complection that ride a buell? again this is not a "hate" based question.

I've met a few, one that comes to mind immediately is Ralph Longus.

http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100000707626992

He's a racer and rides Buells. I think he might have both an XB and an 1125.

On a side note, I've met people from Japan, Australia and a few other countries to boot. Most of them on a Buell and they've been the nicest people. I don't ignore the other brand bikes out there, I just tend to look harder for "my" brand, regardless of their race. Homecoming was fun last year and worth the trip.

Don't know if I qualify for "darker skin complexion" but I own 2 Buells and I'm hispanic.

Are Buells big in Japan ? i read somewhere that they love bikes that aren't from Japan, mainly British stuff like Triumph n Norton.

I only know of a few black people that ride in my area. I can't think of anybody I know who rides that isn't white, with the exception of the few black guys. No Asians, Indians, etc.

being i live in charleston sc, we get a pretty decient mix. navy still had nuke training so we see alot of stupid nukes of all different back grounds. i'll ride with just about any of them. the only ones i am not big fans of riding with, are the riders who consistantly drag race on public roads. and those types have no specific skin color.

the only "black" guy in my area that i know who has ridden a buell is a guy named berry. super laid back, super helpful. he is the kinda guy that gives the "safety meeting" every week before the sunday back roads ride. he never owned one but loved the front brake design and concept

I rarely see black sportbikers in SoCal. But I'm guessing I'm just not in the right area. I do see a lot of white and asian sportbikers.

I'm Filipino-American so I have brown skin and bleed Buell blue. So yeah--I guess you can say I'm a rare combination of Ameriasian on a Buell.

There are thousands of black sportbike riders in LA. Some are in big clubs like Ruff Riders -- I've been at events where there were a couple thousand bikes at least. And of course, some are just regular solo riders/enthusiasts. I've yet to meet one riding a Buell.

Last year at Daytona I met a guy who had just gotten his (then brand spanking new) CR.
He was ecstatic about it (I think he came from Ohio?)

And yes, this is a very weird thread.

When it comes to "minorities" on Buells . . well that'd describe a white guy from the USA.

Buell has always had great sales overseas and long before Buell caught on in the USA they were a craze in Japan.

Some of the most fervent riders, currently, are the groups in Germany, Italy and Brazil. In fact, some of these groups are amazing.

As someone mentioned one of the most inspiring and accomplished Buell Club Racers, also a gifted teacher, is Ralph Longus. I think Ralph is Black but every time I've seen him we've been having such a great time it slipped my mind to ask.

There are many, perhaps a majority, black sportbike riders in the NYC area but, as someone observed, it tends to be a fairly highly modded Japanese bike based on nothing but observation.

I've definitely met minorities riding buells, but I think the lack thereof has to do with the fact that, well, they're minorities. We don't have a very good mix where I live unless you're in a poorer area, unfortunately. Plus I think the culture plays a role - There are minorities that are into NASCAR, but it's not the norm for that demographic. I think the same might go for Buells, or bikes that are less about style.

Like Court, just my (limited) observations.

I am Black and have bought two Buells and still own one of them. I have never met another Black man with one; however, Buell owners in general have been scarce where ever I've been.

I had always hoped they would start up a 'Get a Brother on a Buell' program at Harley...but oh well.

James Stewart is one of the smoothest supercross racers I have ever seen. I thought snow skiers on moguls was tough until I started watching supercross!

I'm a Jew who gets pretty tan if that helps. I'm also president of "Kikes on Bikes". Soon as I get some members it'll be cool! And of course we'll have safety meetings.

I rode with some of the Ruff Riderz last year and I was the only one on a Buell. Though it got a lot of attention, I didn't notice anyone else on one. Most of the 30 plus riders were either on GSXs or R1s. I guess the gixers are great trick bikes.

Yeah. I am an honorary negro so there's one.

And there was a brother trying to sell an X-1 last year (ya'll might remember the craigslist ad that listed it as an 1125r and the photos of his paperwork that happened to have a vial of meth beside lol).

But other than me I don't think there are any Brothers on Buells in SW VA.

Where's Don (Seeu911)?

I tried to take a photo of he and Pammy once at Cycle Rama. My Poor camera didn't know what to do. Pammy's image was like Casper, and all you could see of Don was a silouette with eyes and a big grin.

The first time I met Mikey Paladino, the first words out of his mouth were to exclaim "You're not black!"

I apologized for my shortcoming, but I'm not sure he's ever really forgiven me.

Stereotypes being what they are, and considering his unique last name, it's no wonder that Ralph Longus has never had any use for a poser bike.
