There have been a couple lately that have raised the "funny bar". We even brought in a yea-sayer. Anyone recall the days of the yea-sayers and Nay-sayers that preceded common law?

Yep . . long before we had common law . . or the Europeans did . . they had a system that incorporated "yea-sayers" and "nay-saysers".
The Cliff Notes version is that justice was largely the result of who could induce, generally landowners paying folks, to say a person was right or wrong.
The along came Common Law . . . . and the rest . . . as they say . . . is mostly personal injury and mesothelioma.
