Ain't no cure for the winter time b l u e s!

call me cheap, poor, tight whatever the shootout was great. I am happy as heck to know that the top exhausts are KEDA and Barker. I am happy to learn all the idiosyncracies' of these bikes, puts me on equal footing with any service writer.

I'm with JT on this one. I had never been to the track or had any interest in racing until I took my CR to the track. It literally changed my life.I've been riding on the road for over 20 years and I have no desire to ride on the road anymore.I have much more fun at the track Not saying thats good or bad for everyone, but for me its like discovering a whole new world.Different strokes for different folks.

I'll be in contact Tony, thanks for the help.
Matt

I just really hate being in a cage.
I feel like I'm watching TV when I'm in a car.
I realized in October that my Camaro's plates expired in March...

Haven't been able to ride for over 2 weeks but I got the Uly out today. Felt great!
I am thinking of riding Loretta tomorrow, I won't be making my chicken-strips any smaller tho.
I try to not lean much, this time of year.

Jersey,

You do realize that these are the same questions on every other motorcycle forum on the interweb, right?

What oil is best?
What tires?
Blah, blah, blah.

But yes, the best money spent is a trackday or MSF advanced course.

But, some don't want to hear that. They'd rather keep their chicken strips extra crispy and go tear up an interstate (yawn).

With experience comes wisdom.

P.S. Your subject line sucks.

Granted, it may have been going about it the wrong way, but a young lad at a dealership I worked at had little motorcycling experience aside from a limited time acting a fool on the street. He proceeded to whoop ass on the dragstrip and road race track right off on a couple of stock bikes. Granted, he hasn't done any sanctioned races, just test and tune/track days, but he has a lot of seasoned riders making all manner of excuses for themselves.

I would recommend my mods to any person enjoying their stock bike - on or off track, who would like a safety buffer to enjoy the bike longer, cf case guards will also be in my future. LOL - I just like riding the bike, twisties, etc. - it is the response level I like - my mods are reasonable to me for long term enjoyment of the bike.

first off...i have met and became friends with a few badweb members and from other forums...all great guys and i glad we are friends...i own my own shop...and they know i take alot of first timers on the track with us..they all say they can't because they need this and that blah, blah blah ..and we could very well make money off them and sell them the "race stuff"
but we don't..and we get them on the track with mim mods and money..and they freaking love it !!...as time goes on they make upgrades as needed...
im sure there are members on here that want to track but feel the bike needs major mods they need top off line leathers..i'm telling them they can and its very possible with minor less expensive upgrades...I'M NOT TELL YOU WHERE TO SPEND YOUR MONEY..I'M TELL YOU ..IF YOU WANT TO TRACK YOUR BUELL, DO IT!!
i hope this inspires people that want to try it ..to do it!!...if i can help in anyway...contact me

see you on the track
jt

they need top off line leathers.

Are leathers a requirmement to track? They are in the UK which is a PITA as i don't wear leathers any more, I prefer my kevlar lined armoured jeans and armoured goretex/cordura/kevlar jacket.

One of the things stopping me do a track day this year will be that neccessity to wear leathers..

Renting leathers - now that's a great idea, i haven't seen that offered at any of the UK tracks...that'd swing the decision for me!

Thanks

These rotors in fact are exactly the same as the 5mm finned ones with holes, except machined with grooves instead of holes. Slightly better for wiping water, braked dust, etc. off the surface. Learned this from car brake rotor people. Not exactly rocket science and not unobtanium!!! If you can turn the same lap times as Geoff, May...be you need them.

MY POINT !!!!!

good topic and valid points being made here. i know that without a friend telling me about her track days and another buddy encouraging me to try a school day I would never have discovered this great hobby.

it's like religion - when a person has added to their lives a new dimension they value and enjoy, they might become exuberant in sharing their "find" with others.

i hope those who will not try a track day or track school day will forgive the zeal of we who have been converted (and now consumed in it's pursuit!)

Cheers
