He's not going to be with Ducati next year.
He has a good feel and experience with twins and has proven to be fast.

(Pure hope and speculation, as it would be very hard for Erik Buell Racing to field a multi-bike/rider team, but would be awesome)

Hard to imagine what a built BMW would be like. Those bikes are like rockets to begin with, and if there margin left in that motor -- and I'm sure there is -- holy cow that thing will be a missile.

I've really got to give BMW kudos on that bike of theirs. They came to the game really to fight, and brought out a 1st class champion of a bike on the first attempt.

I've had five... yea, five people I know buy one of those things. All of them I've ridden with set new personal bests on the track the first day they got them.

Quit squashing the speculation guys! Haha.

Oh, and I agree, May is great, but having two people run would be that much cooler.

It would be great to have 2 riders, and I've got nothing but respect for Pegram, but if they can afford to add someone I'd like to see then add a younger rider to build for the future.

Some names that come to mind of riders who are not only young and talented but possibly available are: Taylor Knapp, Brett McCormick, Bobby Fong and Huntley Nash

It is a great Superstock bike straight out of the crate and has won pretty much every Superstock championship around the world this year at the first attempt. This is probably due to two factors, huge power and extremely advanced electronics for a road bike.

However somehow it doesn't translate into such a great Superbike for some unknown reason and other than the factory team in WSB (who are still not regular winners/front row) nobody seems to be able to get it to perform in Superbike spec properly. This may be because by the time you get to WSB level everyone has sophistaced electronics packages to play with and the power advantage is negated by tuning in other teams.
maybe in AMA spec it will be more competitive and I'm sure it would run near the front with Pegram on board : )

I think you're right Trojan. The WSB bikes are far from stock and all the other guys have waaaay more experience in that series than BMW.

Give 'em soome time and they will catch up.

The word from the bench racers is that the BMW has trouble with side grip. Which as we all know is where the 1125 excels.(or maybe more fitting to say "accels")

BMW won a WSBK race?

>>> all the other guys have waaaay more experience in that series than BMW.

Except for Aprilia, who just won the championship.

something like that...

pegram probably has a more recognizable name than may. both are about the same level racer in my book. i like both of them quite a bit

Larry's won a Mile & a pair of Superbike races, & has been on the box a few times

along with many others here, I also appreciate GM99 for his work ethic & demeanor

they're not equal riders, yet both have been competitive recently.....

I can't wait for 2011 !!

Aprilia have many many years of top level racing going right back to when Corser rode for them in WSB and countless GP's in between. The team around Biaggi is the same team that took him to the 250GP world title so they are very experienced indeed.

BMW also have a lot of experienced WSB personnel. It may be a new team structure but they are certainly not inexperienced.

Part of BMW's problem is that they designed their bike to work with their own electronics package rather than to work with the industry standard Marvel 4 ECU that everyone else uses. This si great for a Superstock/road bike where you can't change anything, but for WSB it isn't as good as the opposition and they are having to do all the development work themselves.

However they (and Aprilia) are the only teams with a big development and testing budget and are working so hard to get it right that it really is only a matter of time before they are regular winners I think.

As a side note, the new BMW Italia team that Toseland/Badovini have signed for consists of most of the Xerox Ducati team personnel, so they have plenty of experience and I think will surprise many people next year.

>extremely advanced electronics for a road bike

The OEM electronic is scrap, nobody who ride this bike fast use it on the track.

We competed against the S 1000 RR several times and won. And we testrided that BMW...

Most of he 200 HP engines of the first series already collapsed, replacementengines have 10-15 HP less.

The OEM is a powerful IL 4, no questions, but it is not the new secret weapon. Nice electronic for roadriders, nothing to use for racing.

The real SBK is a different story.... but that also need to proof in 2011 that it do the trick. Unlimited resources not automatically making a Championship
