How about a hard tailbag that will mount the same way the rear seat does. Pop off the seat, pop on the tail bag, and its locked just like the seat. Not a tour pack size, but just big enough to hold a rainsuit and a lunch for work.

Ialso would love to have a tailbag that just pops into place just like the seat. Ijust can't imagine why there isn't one made like that.

Sign me up for both wheels! : )

Actually, PVM makes a forged Mg front and rear wheel for our bikes that's super-duper light, but they are also quite spendy. I think it's something like $4k for the set.

I would just like them to stock a couple of the items they "offer" now!

I have been waiting MONTHS for the engine covers and keyless fuel caps to become available!

You can buy one right now, actually. It's something like $45,000, but those are absolutely for sale.

Frame Pucks, belts, airbox covers, new rear wheels, and whatever else Harley can't seem capable of sourcing these days (apparently including their &$$ with both hands).

Also different front sprocket setups to gear down the Uly easily. This would need some creativity, maybe a new tensioner wheel. It would be really cool to be able to just swap that front sprocket back and forth for back road playing (gear down) and long trips droning (geared up). Something that could be swapped without pulling the primary.

Jdug - I know. Is the question "If Erik Buell Racing offers it?" or is it "If Erik Buell Racing offers it to ME?"

I'd be really surprised if they wouldn't sell one to you, honestly. I haven't tried to buy one so I don't know for a fact, but I presume anyone with the money and track to ride it on is an eligible buyer.

I couldn't afford it, but some of you might like the chance:

The Cycle World article mentioned that the Barracuda would have had titanium valves with higher lift cams with staggered opening for the intakes to promote gas swirl in the combustion chamber, and smaller throttle bodies for better throttle response while still giving a net increase in horsepower.

How about a hi-po kit with that stuff and a new ECM tuned to match?

No, I'm sure they would be more than happy to sell me one - if I had that kind of dinero. I probably took this thread the wrong way - if the intent is "what would you like to see Erik Buell Racing offer?", then I know the 1190 is already offered. I took it more as "If you could get something from Erik Buell Racing, what would it be?"

I am seriously considering the 1125R (EB entry race bike), though, but want to hold off a few months and see what else they may come up with. Murphy will dictate that as soon as I buy the 1125R, a newer, better model will be offered.

ATTENTION

All,

I do not wish to make any enemies. Please understand I was only trying to get a thread going that might benefit us riders, get the attention of Erik Buell Racing, and help support Erik Buell Racing. I thought it would take off better if posted anonymously (obliviously it did.) I did not realize folk would assume I was from Erik Buell Racing, but I guess I should have.

I started this thread NOT ANYBODY from Erik Buell Racing.

Again, I really had no intentions of pissing anyone off. I just wanted to start something to with the hopes of benefiting us all.

One more time, this post was not started by anyone at Erik Buell Racing.

I apologize.

The Flex-Glass kit is *exactly* that and works incredibly well. Engine run temps are 20F or so cooler and the frame is way, way, way cooler with no gas boiling! It's amazing.

After I put my kit on, I went from banging up against 230F all the time to running BALLS OUT, WOT lap after lap at 195ish. I'm not kidding. It's a HUGE difference.

It's the exact same bodywork kit that's used on the DSB-Spec Erik Buell Racing 1125r. It's kinda spendy -- about $1500 all fitted -- but definitely solves the problem. Just no doubt about it.

That said, an 1125r in track trim with exhaust and fueling, Showa Race Suspension, steering damper and race bodywork is a pretty sweet track set up. I really enjoy mine.

Jim - did you go with chain drive?

Also - I'm fairly sure (no pun intended) that the bodywork is available from EB - M.R. said they had a couple in the shop a month or so ago. (just cuz it ain't listed don't mean they ain't got it). You are talking the Daytona set-up? (stock radiators turned 90 degrees, no fan, right?)

> Jim - did you go with chain drive?

No. I'm using the belt drive with stock gearing, even for track days. I've found that at the tracks I run it's acceptable. I'm getting ready for my first race, and even for that, I feel like that's not an issue that stands between me and getting faster.

> You are talking the Daytona set-up?

I bought mine from Erik Buell Racing, and had their guys fit the bodywork. Best few hundred $$$ I *ever* spent!

The kit does not significantly change the radiator mounting. It uses all stock parts and fittings, but does drop the fans, making it realistically unsuitable for the street. Basically, it creates a ram-air channel and directs hot air outwards instead of inwards -- that's what the vents are on the DSB-Spec bike. The airflow is reversed from OEM.

It works like a total champ, too. Highly recommended. Just remember to keep a box fan handy for when you pit-in on warm days.

Sounds like you got a deal on the bodywork. I was quoted around $1800. That was going to be my next purchase.. Glad you're enjoying that fine piece of equipment...

I only bought the pan, sides, and radiator mounts. I'm using the OEM front fairing and tail section.

Jim - Thanks for the info. I appear to be a step or two behind you. Mine's pretty much in track trim, but I have kept it registered so I can run the canyons when I get the wild hair.

Race buddy (XB campaigner) recommended switch to chain drive as my next upgrade. Sez the belt drive doesn't have as much 'give' so tends to load/unload more abruptly than a chain, possibly upsetting suspension. He said it helped him.

One more question: It appears you upgraded suspension. Did you use EB Showa upgrade, or some other vendor? What fork oil are you running (I use Lucas Like Water)?

My earlier post was trying to communicate that if you add up fairing (1800), chain drive (1800), exhaust/ECM (2000), suspension upgrade (1000) - you are getting pretty close to the cost of an EB-prepped 1125R @ $10,500 that already has that cool stuff included.
