hey guys, Does anyone know of a hardware store that might have these? I have been looking around the interwebs and i found quite a few places that will sell a 1/4 x 28 quick release seat pins. I found them for as low as 5 and change but i dont feel like paying 10 bucks to ship a 5 dollar part lol also, does anyone know the size of the bolts that attach the seat?? here is an example of what im talking about: http://www.debrix.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCo de=25003-K1 axl |

here is a link to americanspotbike.com, they are the only ones i know of that make a quick release kit specifically for the 1125. I don't have it, but from what i hear, it works very well. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A16501.html |

Hell you can make them for under five bucks and that's with s.s. hardware. Take twenty minutes or so to do. |

amen brother, cheapness is an effect, the cause is exporting jobs. You send all the jobs overseas and then tell everyone to get smarter and compete with the asians. |

RPM: No. I notice no difference whatsoever --- except for the time I'm not spending unscrewing the damn seat bolts. |

Nope. I bet Axl_rose wasn't even aware that American Sport Bike sells the setup, not that it matters, if he wants to make them himself, then more power to him. Axl_rose, I suggest you order a bulk of them to save the shipping, they can be quite useful for things like the flyscreen and airbox cover. I know I am constantly moving tank bags from one bike to the other, and I don't got spare buckles, so these things will be a life saver. |

On the subject of American Sport Bike I just have to say...I have ordered parts and gear from many different sites, and most offer excellent service. I have placed several orders with American Sport Bike totaling over $1500 and Al's service is always above and beyond. Simply the best I've experienced. I do have the seat pins from American Sport Bike among my collection. Not only probably the least expensive purchase I've made, but also the most useful. Love em! |

Thanks for the support folks. If you want to make the seat pins yourself, it isn't hard, though it may not be as cheap as you think if you have to buy any of the items in higher quantities than you actually need. Instructions for how to do it are in a previous thread, here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/433818.html#POST1368438 Parts like these are things that I would personally consider as something that would get added to an order for something more significant. Ordering a $20 part from anyone that needs to ship it is rarely cost effective when the shipping costs are considered. It isn't like the bike won't work with the stock screws, although in the case of the 1125 metric screws, it is incredibly easy to cross thread those M6 rivnuts. Half the ones I see here have already been crossthreaded either at the factory or dealer Al |

Oh, and on that FIRST post, lest someone gets confused... Firebolts have 1/4-20 rivnuts for the seat. 1125's have M6 rivnuts. THEY AREN'T 1/4-28!!!!! Al |

Got mine from American Sportbike and boy do they make life easier! You don't realize what a hassle it is taking the seat off until you don't have to remove the screws any more...Thanks Al |

I have a set of Al's pins and thein they're great. I ordered 3 sets to keep the cost of item V cost of shipping at a more paletable level (I am in the UK), I gave one set away to the sales manager at my dealer and have the others in a draw "just in case" (not that I can see any reason why I'd ever need them. |

I have counted between 40 and 50 steel fasteners that secure plastic parts that might be candidates for substitution with aluminum for quite a bit of weight savings. Al, if you were to offer an aluminum replacement kit (with an anodized black option, please), I know I would be interested. It could be a big seller. Some titanium kits (brake rotor bolts, etc) would be nice too. |

Once American Sport Bike gets those Dark Horse sliders up and shipping I'm going to throw in a set of pins to the order. Might as well get everything at once. |

Those A S B seat pins are something that I ordered as part of a larger order. They sat there in the box for a couple of months until one day I was so annoyed at the OEM screws that I installed the quick-release pins. It sounds cliche, but it's one of those "Why didn't I do this in the first place? I'll never go back to the old way" moments! Mike |

The jobs were sent overseas in order to produce it cheaply. A result of all us cheapskates that don't wont to pay more than 1 cent over cost. I bought the pins from American Sport Bike. |

I'm 100% in agreement with Milleniumx1 & Bueller4ever. I've enjoyed my pins and other parts from American Sport Bike. Looking forward to receiving my new front rotor & pads, wheel bearings & axle spacers and whatever else I ordered and can't remember... UPS says it'll arrive at my house tomorrow. Just in time to have it all installed along with my new Metzeler Z6 Interact tires by Faron @ GixxerTek (sacrilege for sure, but the guy's good, cheap, honest, and <2 miles from my house!). |
