Wire brush it off, then repaint with high temp flat black paint. I'd take the pipe off to do this though.

When I picked mine up the sales manager had just his de-rusted and re-coated under warranty and assured me that I'd be able to get the same as it was a known issue.

I've not needed to take them up on that as mine's in a box in the loft but I'd have expected any dealer to do the same..

Personally I would do like has been suggested in the previous post and just DIY with BBQ paint

Rusting is a common issue with the XB/Uly mufflers, not so much with the 1125's as most riders don't ride them as much.

It should be covered under the standard 2 year warranty.

Not to hijack your thread but...speaking of warranty work...
I plan on taking my CR in to get the charging upgrade installed soon and have recently noticed the "klunk" in the steering head. Anyone know if having HD do some re-torquing or bearing replacement would be covered under the warranty? I shouldn't be having bearing issues already in my opinion.

Froggy you one funny guy!! "as most riders don't ride them as much." Hmm just because you have 3 rides that must limit your 1125 time. Mines at 32k+ and needed something done to it's muffler last year due to discoloration and rust. The 1125 coating does seem to hold up better than the XB coating. I went the ceramic coating route out of my own pocket.

Why wouldn't they be covered? Pretty much the only thing not covered under warranty is the brake pads and items that you break.

Yea you and I aren't in the "most". From what I read on here, most 1125's are garage queens. That said, my August purchased CR has 7k miles, my October purchased R has 2k. Not much, but that is because my Blast has also earned 9k miles too since getting it in July.

Thunderclap - buy some stove pipe paint at home depot or 1200 degree header paint at an auto parts store.

scuff it, clean it, warm it, paint it.

I have done the D&D on my S1 that way at least five times in 12 years.

Froggy,
Is that the Dealers garage, or their own?

Thunderclap,
If the exhaust shows that it is defective, due to fault in manufacturing, I agree, why would it not be covered?
