Ok so here is a real good one. My R just started smelling up the garage with gas fumes after a ride right after installing a K&N filter.(previously installed Jardine RT-5, latest EB pump gas race ECM, De-Noid)
Really unusual is the sound, its like the gas is BOILING in the frame. I popped the gas cap and the gurgling just continued for 10 minutes more. Tank was just filled 15mi previously but honestly it sounded just like the gas was boiling inside the frame and gas smell pretty bad even though no obvious gas leaking. I have had a few pops, back fires up through the K&N with a quick blip of the throttle but figured this was normal with a race set up, like my old modified Yammy Warrior.
Anyone here tell me whats going on, remedy?

I got my 1125R out a few days ago for the first time this year. The gas fumes in the garage the next morning reminded me of how much fun I had.

Yeah, since I don't ride in winter it isn't an issue. I either let the bike sit in the driveway for at least half an hour or leave the garage door open until it cools. No gas smell in the house that way. I have had the boiling fuel dripping out of the vent even with the tank below half full.

Same here, even after half a tank. The dealer offered insulating the frame and the cali can.

Your dealer offered to insulate the frame? How much will that run?

It's covered under warranty (from what the service manager was saying). So not sure how much they charge. It sounded like a "easy" process of lining the inside of the frame/tank with a material that would help deflect some of the heat away. I'll post back what ends up happening. I need to schedule the bike to go in to have the harness recall done. Ideally they'll fix the fuel issue when it's in.

There's either a difference in operating temp from spark/fuel or a regional difference in fuel.

A lot of 1125s have no problem with this.

Mine dribbled once and spewed fuel from the cap once.
The latter was due to a pinch in the vent line.
Loretta is a little over 2 years old, 24.2k miles.

See if you have the most recent ECM firmware(flash).
Use a "name-brand" fuel

Yes, the problem with that is that to line the tank, you have to rotate the engine down. Which is on the order of 5h of labor (down and up).

I have an 09 R and I didn't have to rotate the motor to line the left side (right side done from factory). The right side looks like it would have been the easier of the two. Of course after putting the shielding material in, the next task was heat wrapping the headers AND yes I had to lower the motor a bit to get the rear header out and drop it even more to get it back in

The boiling point of ethanol is around 170F, so are the people that have boiling problems at high altitudes using 10% ethanol maybe. I normally don't use ethanol, and my fuel doesn't boil, it just evaporates a bit.

However before the engine was broken in I did hear it boiling lightly once.

Hm... what did you use for heat shielding? IIRC the stock Buell material is some sort of high end aerogel insulation.

I do have boiling issues (and it's not even hot yet) - E10 at ~5000 ft. I can't get straight gas anywhere. : (

Syonyk, your location is only about 1000 ft, is your profile outdated?

I know there is regular 91 in Des Moines, you could try a tank and see what happens. Make sure you have the most recent flash as well.

Oh, yeah. My location is badly out of date, I suppose I should update that. I moved to Albuquerque. I have the most recent flash, was quite happy with my straight gas in Iowa, can't find it here.
