This has been bugging me for a while but since I have no plans to buy the Free Spirits pod covers, I never got around to asking but I was working on the bike last night and had to pull one of my (stock) covers off.

There is a lot of crap in there aside from just the radiators. When installing the FS covers, where does all of that go? I have read about rerouting of the wiring but I couldn't, in the 2.5 minutes I spent looking at it all, come up with where you'd reroute all that stuff to.

Mostly a question of curiosity but figured someone here has installed them and can answer this question so that I can actually sleep tonight.

Wow, I guess these things aren't as popular as one might expect. No one has any info?

This is translated from the website:

"The kit consists of new conveyors and fairing more data media, a new expansion tank and liquid media for the relocation of the control unit and sensor tipping normally housed within the outlet. The kit aims to rebalance the disproportionate front."

I would take it to mean that there is a new (probably smaller) coolant tank, and a book explaining (in Italian) how to relocate the ECM. That is just my best guess based on the rough google translation though.

Good on ya Dvy! I am glad to see someone Stateside giving this a shot. It looks intriguing to me, but not enough to shell out for a kit.

I hope it comes out nice for you. If so, I may go for it myself.

Where are you from Freight? Your profile says Ohio.

The "lobster claws" are the only thing I don't particularly like about my bike. Everything else I just love though.

I just hope they are still available in a year because how long does a company keep creating a product for a bike that only had a 3 year run??

the ecm will be relocated on a separate bracket next to the engine behind the oil-cooler. it's sits then directly in the air-flow.

the expansion-tank is now new under the riders seat.

they provide you with all the stuff necessary. actually no big deal to install them.

but they require a proper refill of the coolant with no air inside the system.

with the new ram-air-cap they work same as the original one. we are now installing them on my bike.

i'll post pics of that bike in about two weeks.

Thanks, that helps. So, there is no replacement wiring? All the wires have enough slack to be moved?

What about the left side. There is some sort of control unit there as well.

I am from Ohio, with lots of family in MI. You would be the first person I've heard of in the US to try the kit. I do kind of like the look on the Free Spirits bike. Definitely would like to see it in person if you install it.

Rockstarblast, definitely would like to get together for a ride. I ride solo almost all the time, but not out of choice. I have only had the bike since last fall and only 850 miles so far. When it is out of the shop, I intend to ride the wheels off it this summer. If you see a red '09R in or around T-burg, it is probably me, since all three times I've seen 1125's around they have been '08's.

If you have a mishap and go down on one of the pods, do they sell just the relevant parts to rebuild it ?

What I really wish somebody would do is design just replacement covers for the existing set up that are more in keeping with the overall design of the bike. But I guess that the shape of the current pods help towards their current "crashability" - I wonder if something more angular would hold up as well in the event of a spill.

i talked to the guys from free spirit, in case of damage, they will replace you one side. but still, it will be an expensive thing, as you had it painted in your color etc.

btw: here in europe, a bunch of people replaced the pods with the solution from fs or the eskalation pods.

anyway, it will be for this season only. next winter, we will replace the pods with a frontside high-capacity hi-flow radiator. we are working on it.

Good to here. I'll be checking in for it.

EBR say they are trying to find a good solution as well.
