I found where I can get the bag. I looked up here on the forum concerning the bag, but did not find what I was looking for.

Someone who has the bag. What do you like about it? What do dislike about it?

I ask because I have the tail bag and I kind of wish I went another way. It is cool for long trips, but it is kind is a pain to put on and off before and after work. Who really wants to spend time screwing with the straps?

Which "1125R" tank bag are you talking about? The ones made by Buell are junk.

The tank bag is good, but the zipper sucks. I'd get one of the Cortech tank bags if I had to do it again.

I just got the Cortech Super Mini. Great little bag for not a lot of $. Fits perfectly.

I just got mine so I don't have any pics. But these were posted by an advertiser a while back. I have black instead of blue. Looks really sharp on the black and white 2010.

The zippers are absolute crap. As in rendering the bag useless until they are replaced. They will work for a trip or two, and then blammo.

Interesting. I've had my Buell tank bag for several years now. Originally bought it for my 2006 XB12Ss, but I transferred it over to my 1125R when I traded the bike in. No problems, love the bag, no problems with the zippers at all.

The rain cover is useless, though. Better to wrap things in a plastic bag before putting it in the tankbag if you're expecting it to rain.

I have the Buell Tail Bag, It seems pretty good the zippers are nice and smooth never any problems. I would definately buy it again. I have been contemplating the tank bag, I would think it would be the same quality

I have mine on two bikes for 4 years and no problems. It does seem like many people do have problems with them however.

There are plenty of good aftermarket ones available. I got a Cortex one from a dealer here. Works great on the XB12Scg. I have a Buell bag on the 1125.

The ones made by Buell are junk. Where did Buell make them? I never saw any at the factory being made.

I am sure Harley outsourced for cheap labor to make them at 5 bucks a bag.

I have the Buell Deluxe tank bag and the small tail pack. They LOOK very nice, nicer than the Cortech IMO and the Buell tank bag is large. That may be good or bad depending on your view. I don't want a large bag on my airbox all the time, I would prefer one that would collapse to a low profile, the Buell bag does not.

The Cortech luggage appears to be more versatile, and far better value for your dollar. I would get the Cortech if I were buying today. I may get some Cortech luggage anyway.

i like my buell branded tank bag.
but if i hadn't have caught it in the classifieds, i would have gone with a cortech or the like and affixed magnets to the underside of the airbox cover to allow for a magnetic bag.

For reference, I was able to fit 4 quarts of oil and a large (automotive) oil filter plus a battery hold down clamp in my Buell bag. I did have to unzip the expansion zipper, but I could have put more small items in the side pockets too.

I have it and like it so far. I agree about it would be nice in a lower profile.

The zippers, well after a little surgery to trim some excess material that the zippers snagged on they've been no problem.

This is the bag I was talking about. But it seems I be checking out the Cortech. I have Nelson-Rigg Saddle bags still from my last bike. I was quite happy with them so I might checkout what they are offering too.

Vinb,
For the most part I agree w/you. But sometimes I need to carry some extra crap. Also I am planning a week long motorcycling camping trip to the island of Sardinia. So I need a place to put my gear. After riding the island we are riding across the top of Italy to a beer festival in Slovenia. So can you see why I need to put some temp bags on a race bike?

Yes, the older bags were real good, with great zippers. The new ones are junk.

One question Afhans,
How the heck do you expect to read a map with the window angled like that?

That's the bag I have. No real complaints at all.

I have treated it with tent sealer, and it does a pretty good job at keeping things dry even without the rain cover.

Installs in seconds with the quick clips (not sure of proper name for the clips).

It has proven durable so far, in that the only sign of wear is slight fading from the sun.

Map pocket works fine at the angle, with exception of riding into the sun at a certain time of day where glare is an issue.

I can comment on the old Buell bags- my '99 cyclone tank bag moved on to my ST1100 and still in use on my FJR1300...GREAT bag, massive storage, built like a tank...er...bag.

Sorry, can't comment on anything newer.

Don't look at mine then! I used to go grocery shopping on my Buell's till I got banned from Stop&Shop. Ordering them online is easier anyway. : )

Haha Froggy: do I sense an OT side-story a-brewin'? You can't just leave that little nugget out there and not expect to feed the birdies.

I just got the same bag Afhans pictured.
I've only used it a couple of times.

Not used to reaching around the bag but other than that it worked fine.
Easy on-off holds quite a bit.

Couldn't pass picking one up at fire-sale price.
Especially with Homecoming right around the corner.

One of the things I've noticed about the shape of the Buell bag is that it holds my EZ-Pass at precisely the right angle for the bridge sensors to pick it up every time...

I have both the Buell tank bag (on my R) and the Cortech mini (on my CR). I have no real complaints about the Buell bag. It does what its supposed to do, but it doesn't seem quite the same quality of the Cortech and the zippers are a bit odd in how they work. From a value perspective, I would go with the Cortech (plus, the tail-bag-saddle-bag combo for this is great).

Family_Buells,

I don't use maps when on the bike. I just memorize the route by know what cities/towns I need to ride through. But Ponti1 says it would no problem if I need to put a map in there.

Thanks for all the input guys. It was not like I could just swing into the dealer and check it out, being here in Italy anyway the two local dealers don;t have 'em.
