"Thank God I could rely on at least ONE bike maker to know how to design, build and market a motorcycle; without me having to second guess him before buying. "

LMAO!

Seriously, I kinda figured you might be approaching the mid-life "CRYsis" stage. I feel sorry for the next poor forum members that have to endure your endless hack job modification threads and illogical blame throwing rants. Maybe you'll find a use for that rear brake now...

See ya!

Well, if you lost $20,000 on that bike, probably about $10K was the de-valueing of the bike (would have happened either way, Buell or no Buell) and the other $10K were the questionable "mods" that were plastered all over the bike. Personalizing a motorcycle almost always de-values it.....huge....and I certainly wouldn't want some Bull**** (pun intended) on the sides of my bike....Good luck with your Suzuki.

Conservatively I've spent another A$8,000 making it into the bike it should've been.

wow and to think i havent spent anything making it the bike it should have been, mine just came that way like most others... seems to perform very well on the street and even better on the track. also, if i had spent that much modifying something (which i have before) i wouldnt blame someone else for how i spend my money. i did it because i wanted it that way. for no other reason.

Conservatively, I lost A$20,000 on the Buell, thanks to Erik's mismanagement of the Buell franchise and Harley's discounting of 'the lost boys'.

no id say you lost it because you waisted alot of money fixing things that werent broken. i come across people like you at work, never happy, always need something to whine about.

i paid full tilt to get my 08 1125r. i picked up my 09cr for much less. havent regreted a dollar spent on the 08. would do it agin if i had to.

and then there is this whole miss managment thing. what rock is it you live under? no matter how many times you get proven wrong you refuse to admit that had nothing to do with it.

the most simple thing to say, is Erik wasnt even in charge of buell so how the f is that even possiable. secondly Flickinger was not the reason for buells demise either its notg hard to figure some of these things out... well for most people anyway.

but all this is a waste of time. some people will continue to say the sun is lime green even while staring directly at it. i guess it may be in their world...

Its funny hearing all this busa bashing. Have any of you owned one?? Well I have and I really miss it, as soon as I have enough saved up I will have another. You are right its not like the buell, but it is a great bike to ride. I used to ride mine on Hwy 129 aka the dragon and have to admit it was a workout on there, but rarely are you on roads like that, AND I could keep up with most of the bikes there, so go ahead and bash, but dont knock it till you try it!! Especially the one that said you would rather ride your blast, lololol when your ready to upgrade to a motorcycle let us know!

How long until you chop the seat down to the pan on that Suzuki?

Maybe you'll manage to get 12000Km on that Hayabusa rear tire while the rest of the world can only manage 5000Km.

Good luck, Vegemite.

Good luck,Vegimite

That shit is just nasty. Not gross or kinda unpleasant. Honestly I dont know how anybody can eat it. Thats in the category of the ham slice MRE from days back. A ham slice thats peen in a foil pouch for 6+ years. In a package for sooo long that the little bottle of Tabasco that it came with evaporated and the Charms hard candy is mushy. Somehow the actual ham slice still looks fresh.

I cant imagine what customer service is like from a 22 hour flight + a day away. I called the 404-343-4056 number for the fisrt time today. So far everybody has been super cool excluding the purchasing dealer so I found a better one.

I really dig the 1125R even with its known quirks. Ditching it and going to super huge motorcycle co of Japan of course is an instant way to get mass production cookie cutter customer satisfaction (hopefully).

Somebody is going to get a nice Buell out of this.

Eff the Hayabusa. It's nice bike but things a tank for a rocket. More like a cruizer.

Tootall how else would you get that women on the back. The 1125's are perfect. Nice tiny seat that fits a tiny ass!

If you fell off that bastard I'd be worried about getting ran over.

And I'm not into the bike aftermarket scene. But on PWC's any modded or aftermarket part is worth $0 when it comes time to sell the machine. A clean stock machine is worth more than modded even.

I hear ya on that one. Had a buddy with an GP1300 with a bunch of work (triple pipes, waterbox work, etc.) and could only sell it for about $4k. Easily put $4k into it on top of purchase price.

I, on the other hand, can't wait to get a Kawi 15. Best damn PWC on the water (I have well over 2,000 hours on them). That, or the 260X (kind of like the 'Busa ... fast as f**k but it's basically a small boat, lol).

Enjoy the 'Busa and ride safe. We're all riders here.

Just another dude on a Busa who will maybe ride it at 120mph on the straights and putt through the corners. But at least people will know what kind of bike he is on! Finally, some acceptance! Hahaha. Buell over Busa anyday for me.

If I was one of the people that bought a buell for full price. I'd just ride it forever sense it's either sell it and take a hit. Or enjoy it and not really take any hit. Because then by the time you get ride of it either way it woudln't be worth much.

Also I might take out extended warranty when the time comes if it's not to expensive. Just so there's no headaches if there's something wrong bring her in.

The Phillip Island thing has bothered me for a long time - that this guy would essentially boast about hitting 145 KPH (90 MPH) on the Gardner Straight.

An Australian V8 Supercar comes off the corner ONTO the straight at around 119 MPH. They probably accelerate (at these speeds) about like a sportbike, but obviously corner a LOT harder. So figure a novice rider at a track day/school should be capable of getting out of the corner and on the straight at maybe 70-80 MPH or so. Just a conservative guess.

The Gardner Straight is a MONSTER at 900 meters (0.56 miles) long. So figure about a half-mile to accelerate (on perfectly straight, smooth, MOTOGP QUALITY pavement), then a conservative 318 feet to slow down for the next corner. I think that's a reasonable braking distance for a novice.

From a STANDING START, I have hit (in good air) 142 MPH (229 KPH) on my CR coming out the back of the traps at one of our local dragstrips (132 MPH trap speed, which is not the true terminal speed at 1320 feet). In a half-mile, I think I could easily get over 155 MPH (250 KPH) without breaking a sweat.

With a 70-80 MPH rolling start onto a half-mile dragstrip (which is basically what the Gardner Straight is), a hopped-up 1125R (with taller gearing than the CR) should be able to hit AT LEAST 170 MPH (274 KPH) before the braking zone.

I can hit 90 MPH in about 500 feet on the CR (1/8 mile trap at around 107-108 MPH) from a standing start. THE GARDNER STRAIGHT IS 2957 FEET LONG!

Topping out at 90 MPH down that ribbon of pavement isn't just slow, it's PARKED! I DO NOT GET WHY ANYONE WOULD BOAST ABOUT SOMETHING SO LAME AND PRISSY!

My wife's 2000 ML320 with its 210 HP and 4WD will hit 83 MPH in a quarter mile from a standing start. She could have smoked this clown with a hatch full of groceries.

I never got it, and it looks like I'll never hear a good explanation. This one has been eating at me for months. Freaking internet.

And why this guy would replace an 1125R (offering performance miles beyond what he needs) with a freaking Hayabusa makes even less sense.

He rides solo (clearly), uses it for commuting duty almost exclusively, has short legs, is looking for "Japanese reliability", doesn't have a lot of money (after the beating he took on the 1125), and doesn't need anything beyond 90 MPH of top end, and then only for racetrack duty.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

A 250 Ninja would be PERFECT.

- no wife and no Buell, wow that hurts.

Benzo_mike

- I am new here, I didn't know the story. Would the groceries remain in place for the braking event? :-)

- that was kind of nice if nobody called him out on it until now.

- just like at work when someone leaves it all comes out.

Like I said a lot of assumptions here, you guys have never ridden one, and you think that every busa owner is just looking to compensate, and cant ride. The busa is what it is. But I will tell you it is the smoothest riding riding bike I have had. And think many of you would be surprised at its potential. And I like that scraping pegs means your doing what??? Going fast thru a corner???? OK!!!!!
