As promised here is my video of my newly installed Barker Slip on installed.
A few notes:
- The sound is more "crackly" then in person. Especially when blipping the throttle in the beginning. I assume its my little sony handcam's fault.
- I may be running a little lean because I still have the original 08 flash. I will be getting the newest one soon. I had a tune for the older flash, thats why I never upgraded.
Overall, I rode about 25 miles. It has a little gurgle in decel, but not too bad. Again I have not given the ecm a chance to "learn" at all. And I am still running the old flash.
Compared to the Jardine, it is a little quieter. This is without the quiet core. I should be receiving it in the next couple days. I will do another video with it installed. It is definitely deeper then the Jardine. If I had to make a analogy I would say the Jardine is more like a indy car sound, while the Barker is more of a Nascar sound. Deeper, but still loud.
So here ya go, I will give some more impressions once I am able to ride it some more. Hopefully this weekend.
Not sure how to embed it on here, copying the embed link on youtube didnt work.
Sounds pretty good, little bit of popping, but definitely better than a Jardine. Little bit higher pitched than mine, but the diameter is a little smaller I think. Nice spools.
You need to do a tank mounted video, loft the front end a few times maybe. Otherwise, very nice! Watch out for wheel spin where you are, I got some of that last night leaving work. I actually got a bit sideways in 3rd gear, the tires were still cold.
Did you get a baseline for your stock setup prior to installing this one?
While it is loud, I think my camera throws the perception off a bit. I should have left the clips of cars passing by and how loud they sounded.
I did not do a baseline with the stocker. It was raining yesterday, and I coudnt resist installing it as soon as the UPS man dropped it off . It takes 5 minutes to swap it back, maybe I will throw it back on for quick fly by or two. Oh and I love the spools, they work awesome! I do have a vholdr hd for the on bike riding, but all you hear is wind noise.
Is the quiet core necessary for street riding? Well thats subjective. For me, I think it is. I will be using the quiet core for everyday, and removing it for our mountain runs and track days. Thats one of the main reasons I went with this setup. }
Jones, I wrote in my first post about the sound compared to the Jardine. That is the only one I have 1st hand knowledge of. It is still much louder then stock, but not over the top. But exhaust note is so subjective, whats loud to me, might not be as loud to you.
Thanks, it was a great sound clip i wish more were done in that fashion, so that you could hear the exhaust in different RPM ranges. Very nice job on the sound clip and thanks
I think it sounds great. It only seemed really loud to me when you get on it good. It seems like you can avoid annoying the neighbors with a little throttle modulation.
Well like you said I was trying hard not to dump her on camera! So it was a gradual acceleration and held it at that rpm. Knowing my luck I would go down trying to wheelie on film!
