Do I need to jump on this? Found a dealer not too far away that has a 2008 1125R (1200 miles-their demo bike) with all the upgrades done for $5900. This would be titled as a new bike. Is the price right, or can I offer them some embarrassing amount less than this?

If you're asking an internet board for advice...it's obviously not the right price for you.

If you like the bike, and like the price...buy it and smile : )

It's worth it.

Some will say that they have done better (which they have), but it is still a great price for a great bike!

Eh, it depends on the region.

If this was a few months ago, I would say for a demo bike offer them $5k. But now that they're becoming more rare, dealers have a little bit of leverage.

Just for reference, I picked up my brand new '09 1125CR in Racing Red completely stock for $6k OTD ... with 6 miles on the clock. This was in central VA.

It's a toss up between the options (if it has the high bars on I would say it's worth the extra money) and the fact that it already has 1,200 miles on it being a demo ... you don't know if it's been broken in properly ... I know on my demo bike I took that bitch to redline a few times and it only had ~250 miles on it. I mean, what other options does it have. Other than the high bars, luggage, or Traction grips I can't think of anything.

That's something you can use for leverage, but the dealer might rebuttal with the warranty (two years included).

I'd say jump on it, just make sure it has the newest flash and all the recalls (turn signals, "weeping" cover, etc).

Think of it this way: just 4 months ago people were paying $9-12k for this bike ... so anything is a great deal right now.

Rat: Let's see, why did I ask around? Maybe because I like the bike, but because I'm frugal (OK, cheap) I'm not apt to pay more than what others are paying for the same thing. So, I don't know if I like the price....

The MSRP is $12k, you would be getting it for half of that, sounds good to me.

I have seem several in my area (Chicago) going for around $5,000. However, we have a flood right now with several dealers taking on many 1125r. Depending on where you are, $5,900 could be a very good deal. Especially in areas with longer riding seasons and no snow (like us.) And if you are getting a 2 year warranty, weigh that into the equation.

Having said that, make a deal you are comfortable with and don't look back. There will always be someone getting the same thing for less. Many boards were lit up with $4000 r/cr deals a couple months ago. Those are gone.

Dragonwing,

$5900 is a reasonable price, however you may be able to get them down a bit. Even if you pay the 5900, I am sure you will be happy with it.

Sounds like a great bike at a great price. Offer them $150 less and see what they say. You will not be disappointed.

$5900 isn't too bad , but you can probably do a little better. I was looking hard at the 2008's last month and there were several dealers in Ohio that had '08 demos between $5-6k. I was about ready to pounce on one when I stumbled across an '09 with 1100 miles from a private seller for $5500.
It's in my garage right now ; )
Even at $5900, I think that the '08 is still a great value though.

IIRC these guys had an '08 black 1125R for right around $5k:

I would say $5900 is a good price for the area. There are not many new 1125's left in Ohio. I paid $1000 more for a new '09 days after the announcement and I am completely happy with my deal.

Your not getting ripped off by any means. If you really want it offer a little less and see what happens. People were getting deals all over in price range. Some guys 7k out the door. Others 6k. As for 4 or 5? Not sure on the 4... And 5 would be a stretch. I'd say most people were paying around 6 OTD or 6 plus tax title license. Now the bikes are all bought up, and the price will either go up or already has. One local place had a used XB, low low miles. But still more than I paid for a new CR.

my 09' 1125r was otd at 6100.00, in western new york state. If it was me i'd offer 5500.00 and see if they counter. Its a good price, and we're only talking a couple hundred bucks more than "the best prices" i've heard of.

There is a Harley (not Buell) dealer in Paducah, KY that was (is?) selling <500mile '08 1125R demos for $5200. I thought that was a good deal until I found a new 1125R for $4400. Yeah, I bought it.

$5900 is not bad by any means, but if you shop around and are willing to drive a bit, you can do better. But how much is your time worth?

I don't doubt it at all. I heard of those deals being out there. A lot of dealers were dropping them like a bad habit. It's amazing how quickly some of the dealers divorced themselves form Buell.

I passed on a 2009 from Conrads HD for $5800. Was $6900 and some change after TTL, freight and setup. Which they wouldn't budge on. I'm glad I passed since I got my 2010 demo for a little less than that. : )

Yeah? Well, they PAID me $75.00 to take two of them.

Seriously Kaotikevo, What's the big deal?
I was calling all over the place and the best deal I could find was on an '08 demo at right around $5000. I mentioned that I was looking for one on another forum, then I get a PM from someone selling an '09 with 1100 miles. Spotless for $5500 two weeks ago. I know that's more than people were paying in October, but I still think I got a great deal. And it's very possible that you missed the absolute best deal. Good for the guys who got a better one than us thumbsup

No that's asking wayyyyy too much demand they give it to u for 4 grand or walk! I really hate these threads if you like the bike buy it like states before it really makes me sick all these people bashing the half price msrp of a bike and wanting it even cheaper! All of us that paid full price or near have a bike that's worth nothing right now and no ones helping the situation. I guess for not being a fair weather fan and only buying a Buell cuz its the cheapest bike on the market that's what happens. After all the bikes r gone I'm waiting for the "do I look cool with out riding with a helmet" treads to starts piping up or the 100+ MPH wheelie videos in just jeans in a t-shirts

I can't help ya with any dealers near NY though. But they do exist out there. Part of the reason is there are several dealers near where the demos are being auctioned. The bit, win and then trailer them back to their shops. Saves on the shipping. Out in your parts they will cost more due to transport. But you may get lucky.

I don't think there is anything wrong with finding a "deal" but yeah, don't look a gift horse in the mouth as they say. I'm just glad I could afford a bike I've lusted after for so long.
