Hi Everyone, Sorry if this has been covered but can anyone give advice on how to get more of what's behind me and less of my forearms in the mirror? The mirror housings are fixed on the stalks, which only collapse forward (I have no idea why they do that, other than it's convenient when lining my bikes closely in the garage). Anyway, I have pushed on the glass and have it as far as I think it can go and I still see my arms in 1/2 the viewable area. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! Phil | ||

i just decided to play with mine a little on the way home tonight. i've discovered that if you push them in the opposite direction that you think you need you'll see a little more of what you are looking for. weird but it works for whatever reason. still not a great view but much better than before. push them all the way towards the inside. let me know if that helps. | ||

I had the same problem...just wasn't seeing enough. Took the stalks off and put some bar end mirrors, from American Sport Bike, on. Better visibility and a better look, IMHO. | ||

on the cr, loosen the whole mirror base, and slide it forward, retighten..  | ||

I did that on my CR (rotated the whole base forward). Unfortunately, this also rotates your levers forward!!! | ||

I'll put this into the "I must have gotten lucky" column. Mine were perfect for me, and I've not touched them other than pulling off the little sticky on the reflective surface of the right mirror. I hope they never move! Mike | ||

Thanks Everyone for the tips. Micro, I tried pushing the opposite way but it didn't really help. The truth is there is not a lot of play up-down or in-out. Leyroysch, bar end mirrors might be an option. Did you pull off the stock? If so, what did you do to cover the mounts on the fairing? Burying the wires is easy but it seems you would still have the hardware there. Others with a CR, I think the setup is different. Thanks again, Phil | ||

For the 1125R mirrors to be effective one would need to mount mirror extenders between the fairing and the base of the mirror. I've poked around the web, but haven't come across anybody that manufactures them for the 1125R. Does anyone know of a source for 1125R mirror extenders? | ||

I couldn't get mine to work for me so I replaced them with Firebolt long-stem mirrors. Dropped right in the holes, best m/c mirrors I've ever used. I ran the turn signals to the running lights. Been that way over a year and a half. Z | ||

I'd be interested in mirror extenders. The bolt size and spacing is either identical or close to it. Pretty sure I'm using the same 10mm wrench on the Firebolt mirrors I used on the OEM 1125R mirrors. The link to "ironmachine" shows extending a set of "short stem" Firebolt mirrors. I used later model "longstem" that are about the same as they picture, extended. Looks like they should work fine but you may need to drill a hole for the blinker wiring. Z | ||

If someone decides to take the plunge and order a set of Iron Machine extenders, please post up with your experience. If they work without too much fussing and look good, I'll buy a set. (Or if someone here wants to do one better and design a set that are at least as good as the Iron Machine ones and cost less, I'd be all for that too.) | ||

Speaking of mirrors, my 1125R arrived today. I got the mirrors aligned the way I want them, but on the ride home, once I got past 50-60mph, the force of the wind would push the mirrors in a bit. I checked the mirrors at their base as I'm used to seeing a bolt I can tighten but there doesn't appear to be anything I can tighten at all. I must be missing something, but what? | ||

I know this is in another thread alreadym and probably the same idea, but just drill 3 holes in them and put the LED's for the turn signals in them, and wire them up and there u go  hahaha....please keep us all informed (or at least me ) on the progress of the turn signals. Jack, let me know how the hammer method works for you. I may well give that a shot myself. I still can't believe there's not just some bolt at the pivot point that can be tightened. EVERY bike I've owned with a fairing has had pivot bolts that can be tightened except the 1125R. | ||

Skully, may I second the previously advanced suggestion that your block-off plate would make the great start of a flush-mounted turn signal. After that there are a wealth of good bar end mirrors on the market . . . | ||

My Xmas break project is to decide whether to wire the running lights (replaced with amber units from American Sport Bike) as turn signals (Al's idea) or to use a SS switch from Custom Dynamics which would interrupt the power to the running lights, achieving the same purpose. | ||

+1 --- but I would load it up with enough LED's to make it really bright. I wouldn't personally be interested in a unit that only blinks to satisfy that DOT requirement to have a blinker. I'd want mine bright enough to actually get the attention of drivers around me. Also, I had envisioned something with a lens over the LED's (like the link to the cheap ebay crap I posted) but Jake's conception looks like it could be the foundation for a very elegant solution . . . |
