Not that anybody asked, but... I changed my oil after 53 miles per the motorman recommendation. At that time, the magnetic drain plug was packed full of fine metal particles. I just did it at 306 miles (putting it away for the season, sadly), and the plug was almost completely clean.

I guess the moral of the story, doing that first change real quick probably is a pretty good idea for the $7 of oil it costs. I'm glad I got that stuff out of the engine.

Hmm, mine runs about $45 to do the oil change. Guess you used the cheap stuff?

Since I'm still in break-in, I'm using dino - SuperTech 20w-50 for 2.27/qt at walmart. Will change to a full synthetic at the 600 mile change.

I changed my oil at 100 miles and had the same thing. Im getting near 600 miles now. Im going to stick with dyno oil. I didnt like how the clutch in my old bike felt with synthetic oil in it.

I dumped my OEM oil at 500 miles and the plug was covered in black powder, no shiny metal.
Filters weren't available yet(Jan 08) so I cleaned the OEM in gasoline and let air-dry.
All I had in the garage was Valvoline Dura-Blend(for my Jeep) 20W-50 so I used that.

By the 620 service, I got a new filter and changed to Syn3.

Last Fall I wanted a lighter oil for the Winter and switched to Red Line 10W-40.
I like the Red Line and continue to use it.
I still have 20W-50 from the Summer, will be changing to 10W-40 again in a few days.

My clutch feels superb, no idea what the plates look like tho.
22.8k miles.
