It makes me so sad. It would have sold so well if that is what it was.

Buell fuel in frame.

It looks a little too "generic sport bike" to me - think it's lost a lot of the charm. It probably would have sold better, though, as there's nothing very polarizing about the styling. But where's the fun in that?

I like the Triumph!

I think the Buell pic at the top of the page looks a lot like a Ducati.

Old Skool Buellers might not like it much, but with that bodywork and having worked out the reliability issues, if that was the next "1125", it would have sold like a Gixxer. Awesome looking bike.

If it is just a body kit, where the hell can I get one?

Well, the biggest thing I see or lack there of is no intake pods. So, either it's got a forward radiator or they have come up with another way to keep the motor cool. Either way, it's damn sexy.

Say anymore and I'll have to shoot you . . . . .

: )

How cool would it have been . . . . after entering DSB . . . winning a Championship in the very first season . . . jumping into Supersport, when so many folks predicted Buell would get their lesson it they so much as tried . . . and then seeing 4 Buells in the top 10 . . . what the heck?

What if that same bunch of folks . . . .

Ahh . . never mind.

That would be impossible for a small group of American engineers and enthusiasts.

Sorry . . . . I got carried away there.

This bike looks Great ! The best looking bike we have seen for a long time. Could it be produced by someone else ?? Chinese brand maybe making an investment in the US ??

How many bikes Buell sold last year ?? It seems that the Chinese are more interested in keeping Italian Beneli alive, than H-D keeping American Buell alive.

H-D is STUPID!

Court, I still disagree with the DSB rules. I'd like to see it compete in the Superbike class.

A local (WI) mold maker I know through work told me that Buell had around 100 new molds in the works when they were told to stop building the tooling.

That photo along with the recent "Dead Bike Rolling" article in RRW just makes me so sad. Buell was literally poised to turn the sportbike world on its ear, then *poof* it's all gone. Someone wake me up from this nightmare.

Can we stop calling them intake pods? They are radiator pods.

How can you see a chain drive when the chain or belt is on the other side? All I see is some different rotors than stock.

>>>Court, I still disagree with the DSB rules. I'd like to see it compete in the Superbike class.

Fine.

But agree or disagree Buell won the Championship their first year.

That REALLY pissed some folks off at Harley-Davidson.

Buell was told that if they had a hair on their ass they'd try playing in Supersport.

They did.

They did exceeding well.

That REALLY pissed some folks off at Harley-Davidson.

Here was Buell . . . using about $0.20 on the dollar to develop and deploy programs that a couple folks at Harley-Davidson had tried and totally screwed up.

That REALLY pissed some folks off at Harley-Davidson.

They were not about to let this new Buell (it's essentially done and ready to go) hit the streets after the XR1200R disaster.

They had a new CEO and CFO and "snookered" them.

Don't take my word for it.

I'm terribly biased.

Read Dale Frank's account (later proven to be right on the money) about the folks who found Erik abrasive and were out to give Buell a "throat slitting".

The read the silly "business purpose" language in the 10-Q.

I'm aware that many here are far brighter than I. So . . read it and let me know what you think.

I'm cool with Harley dumping Buell . . . uncool with them taking products, people, programs and processes that could EASILY be separated from Harley-Davidson and destroying them so a couple folks could save face.

That REALLY pissed some folks off at Harley-Davidson.

The other thing to notice is the move to bright colours. That's a new logo on the back of the Vanson jacket, isn't it?

With all the shades of black and chrome available, why would somebody use a colour?

Blasphemy, shut them down.

Court, wow!
Any chance that Buell comes out as a Harley branded bike?
We all know that's how it shoulda looked to start with. Why wasn't that the 2010 bike? Better yet, why wasn't that the 2008 bike?

Same reason the 9 came before the 12 - development testing - gotta walk before you run. Still Buell has always been the fast learner in the bunch and HD the retard. The rest is self evident in that respect.

>>>Any chance that Buell comes out as a Harley branded bike?

None, as Harley has publicly stated.

>>>Better yet, why wasn't that the 2008 bike?

For the same reason the 2008, largely designed in the mid-80s was a 2008.

The 1125R was the first of series of bikes that would go for the next 10-20 years. By the way . . the 1125R was the FIRST "Erik Buell" designed front to rear bike . . . it's the FIRST time in the history of all the Buell business variants . . . Pittsburgh Performance Products, Buell Motor Co., Buell Motorcycle Company . . . that Erik wasn't forced to adapt parts . . . like the Sportster motor, a BMW headlight or HD levers to build a motorcycle.

Think of the 1125R . . . which has been in that mental drawing board for 20 years as 1 of _____. Erik is no where near out of ideas.

>>>Same reason the 9 came before the 12

Next thing you know someone will want to know why the S-2 came out 3 years before the S-1.

: )
