I've been doing business with the dealer in question for a while now. I can tell you the techs there have done more valve jobs and have been inside more 1125r motor than probably anyone else -- mostly because my 1125r bikes have more than 45,000 miles on them and that's where they have been serviced.

I'm not saying they aren't at fault. Just saying I've had a pretty good experience with them, and they have seen a lot of 1125r bikes come and go through there.

It's *possible* they are telling the truth. They do have staff there that is pretty decent with the 1125r motor.

Picked up my CR today after the head gasket replacement. Rode it for 5 miles around the dealership, let it set for 20 minutes, no oil spray, no oozing leaks. Took it home, did the handlebar kit - kit installs easily, and makes a world of difference for my 57 yo ass!

The saga continues. The head that got there are Saturday delivery was still not a perfect match!? I did however successfully get my first payment in the mail.. So far $1,150 bones out of my pocket and no joy between my legs.. I tried to trade for the red 1125R on the showroom floor but once again that seemed like an unreasonable request from me. My sales guys seemed very concerned and promised me he will have this fixed. I guess we'll see. In the meantime I'm jamming to RATM, scratchin my balls, and trying not to blow my own gasket. :-/ Hope anyone else in DFW is enjoying this PERFECT riding weather. :-)

Awesome weather here in Southeast Central Florida - Treasure Coast to Space Coast. Took the 1125CR out for a 100 mile day. Now 300 on the odo. Rode with guys on a Star Warrior and Star Road Liners - even keeping the bike in break-in r's, left the big hogs in the dust! Corners are amazing! Kept lifting the front end off on corner exits. Great bike - lots of fun! But man, this thing will be a hot bitch to ride in the summer! Overall, love the bike!
Looks like all is well, no problems to report and the high handlebars make all the diff for the street!

That rocks! A couple of the guys at my yob are past the 600 mark and are starting to let her breath a little more. I'm jealous!!
Are most Buell riders track and twisties kinda fellers.. or are there stunt Buellers out there too??

That's cool.. I only went out with the 'twisties' guys once or twice.. on Yamaha R6's and R1's.. it was fun... shortly after I had broken my neck in a bike accident so I was somewhat reserved.. : ) Do you typically just go out and go balls to the wall and hope there's not something in the middle of the road as you come around a corner??

No, not at all. I know the roads I travel. There are a few worthy twisties here on the east coast of Florida. But, I normally ride through slowly looking at road conditions, then come back hard and leaning. I can have the same fun on my little Bandit 600. It's all in finding the right line and previewing a set of curves makes it more intense, more fun and of course, a bit safer.
Stunting is not my thing. I can pull bikes up into a wheelie. Haven't tried a stoppie yet but, for me, a well executed high speed sharp curve is a blast.
Once I get accustomed to the CR, I'm looking for 50 degree leans on familiar corners. The bike is much more capable than I am.
So far, my Bandit has 1/8" chicken strips and the CR has 3/4" chicken strips - much more to go!

I need to get my cornering skills down quite a bit.. I'm gunna go try to keep up with Slowride thru the twisties 'round these parts one day.. one day in the distant future!! Good thing for me I guess is that there are more straight roads down here... so you can just open it up and see what it will do.. The R6 I had before would get up to right about 160ish.. I'm anxious to see what this will do.. I luuuuuv me some speed for sure!

At Buelltoberfest, he was leading a ride, me and Chadhargis on CR's and the 3 of us got away from the rest of the group several times. He had a perfect pace on that huge thing, it was fast, but not over the top or reckless. Shame we didn't get to go down that forest service road : (

Glad I could keep you entertained Froggy...

I came home telling the guys here it was like being in a B52 with these two F18 Blue Angles on my @ss the whole time. Everytime I looked back in my mirrors all I could see was those Dagone Blue Suits and the Pods.

I was thinking, with all the new R's and CR's out there, the next Buelltoberfest might have a 1125 only ride that could maintain a very very brisk pace.

ok ok ok.. I know you guys are wanting to have fun.. but back on topic!! The shop says they can not get an '09 head.. The 'incomplete' head they kept getting for my bike was a 2010 head. The 'missing hole' was a vent hole that was being changed for the 2010 model. I was told they could not get any more '09 heads but that they could and are going to manually drill the vent hole.. other than that the head should be exactly the same.
Is this bike the only bike that uses this engine??
Also.. they said the cause of the leak was an 'insert' that kinda goes between the head and the jug I guess.. On the two new heads the insert was seated much deeper than on the head that was on my bike. I asked if I could take pics and they said they would let me. I'm gunna try to take them tomorrow.. Hopefully they will have me all put together tomo too.. so on the next Buelltoberfest I'll be able to trail behind saying how crazy you guys are.. I'll be the camera guy. : )

Bwbueller - I'm a slow flatlander from FL. For the last couple of years I'm usually near the back of the group. I just let them go, they always wait at the next intersection or turn off. Look forward to meeting you there next October.

Seems crazy that they have to replace the head because of some plug that wasn't seated properly.

What's up with this thread? The thread starter obviously has a legitimate issue with his new and warrantied bike!

I can only imagine if it was either of the ill poster's...and what they would post in the sauce...

Thread starter, have patience and feel free to pm if needed for additional free and logical help. mm

The problem bike referred to in this thread is actually mine. :-/

The dealer have had the bike since October 23rd. It has only about 40 miles on it.

The newest excitement so far is that they had to order the valve stem seals for the new head.. so I'm waiting for those to arrive.

I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with the GM at the HD shop and after about 30 minutes of company lines.. "We want to make you happy" kinda stuff.. we parted ways.

It sounds like it might have been a simple fix until they broke it worse taking it apart.

Yeah when I heard Harley dealers really don't G.A.S. about Buell guys.. I had no idea.. I had the GM say to me.. "I'm going to put you on speaker phone so you can yack because I've got work to do" . Now I know.

All right.. The HD shop got their hands on a brand new black 1125CR and was willing to make a swap with me to get me on the 'new' bike I bought. It was a really rough and frustrating roller coaster ride...
but...
today I got to take this thing home... and I am just now experiencing that first rush all you guys were. I'm really exciting now. All my kiddos were super excited and I took them all for a little ride around the hood.. Life is good! :-D

Just wait till the bike disappears under you and you feel like you're flying instead of riding.
That's called "getting it".

It's a BUELL thing.

BW -

Glad it worked out for you! I was in the shop the other day myself -- my 1125r was in pieces next to the one that was once your 1125CR. (I don't know if you went back into service to take a look for yourself.) Mine has a mystery thermostat issue that's been diagnosed as a faulty ECM, and apparently that ECM is no longer available from Buell, so it's waiting on warranty service, too. : (

(Good think I have 3 of the things!)

Anyway, they were putting your old 1125CR back together and showed me the head. Sure as sheet, the head that was shipped wasn't finish machined. They sent your old head along with the new one to a local machine shop and had the part finished correctly.

Keep in touch and let us know how it works out.

Ah man!! The thing is definitely fun to ride! I'm wondering if being a Buell fan means you always need to have a backup tho! : )
What I was told about those heads is that the new ones they were getting were for what the 2010 motor was supposed to be.. which had a 'vent hole' in a different place and thats what they had to drill..
Did they show you the insert or whatever that I think they said was one of the runners for oil? They said that was the main cause of the leak.. I never ended up seeing it. I went on Friday and was in such a hurry I just picked up the new one and headed out.

What are they saying they are going to do with yours?? Maybe they'll just part out my old one to get yours going again!! : )

> What are they saying they are going to do with yours??

My track bike is an '08 with 40,000 miles. Intermittently, the bike will think it's cold and slam on a rev limiter which is ANYTHING but good in a hot corner.

We replaced the 'stat once before, but the problem is back. So, it's been diagnosed to the ECM. During the diagnoses, they had to drop the motor and run the wiring harness looking for shorts and also discovered cracks all along the stock exhaust weld lines. The new exhaust is in, and now we are waiting on a replacement ECM.

I think it's fair to say that *ANY* brand you run hard on the track needs a backup. I've probably had more issues with the 1125r than I would have a Japanese bike, but come out to the track for a while and you will see plenty of all brands having issues.

For a street rider, they can be fairly reliable. But, at this pricing, might as well get two.
