i too would like to see the exhaust shown on their bikes for sale. whether it be the termi or one of the many others on their show bikes! |

I e-mailed them last week about the radiator "pods"...no answer.
I looked closely at a Honda VRF Monday.
Unlike the 1125's, the VFR has NO shrouding, no deflectors, no directors of any kind.
Plus from what I've learned being around cars since I could walk....if the air has no where to escape the radiator core..directing the air INto the core..does no good.
That said...I'm slowly modifying my "pods", one change at a time to see if I can get it to cool better.
Also...the header wrap has helped, raising the timing has helped.
I've currently made two changes, both have worked to a small amount.
My next move is to totally open the back side of the pod to allow ANY air that happens to get into the core to actually pass thru smoothly!
Hopefully, I can do what I want without making things too weak.
If that doesn't work to my liking...my CR may start looking like my XB12R...NO pods...with a curved R1 or GSXR radiator behind the tire.
My goal...at no time does the water temp. get over 200 degrees....even in slow splitting lanes traffic.

Ps: you can put the pods of a benelli tnt.. or maybe under the seat like a britten |

And for perspective, we were running with a VFR at mid ohio... I forget which size, no doubt the smaller one (800 cc's or something?)
Anyway, he was right with me in the fast novice group, and even on the back straights, I at least once powered around him on my stock 05 XB9SX, and stayed in front down the whole back straight.
Not a slam of either the VFR or 9SX, both are great bikes. Just a data point that the VFR may have a lot less heat to shed then the 1125R does, it may be making nearly half the power. |

I like the look of the cut down pods themselves, but that exposed radiator is butt ugly. And now that the majority of the scoop is missing, there's no real reason for the air to flow through it... easier to flow around.

from first impressions about the freespirit's pods, it seems that the bike runs really hot.. 105C° @ 120km/h... (just metric units, sorry  )almost boiled.. he had to to stopo the bike .. more to come... is gettin' hott in herre |

To my recollection, VFR's are in the 100-105 hp range, but they are pretty heavy, like around 500 lbs wet. |

now in Rome the temperature is really hot. Something like 40C°. But! As far as I know, he was at 120Km/h on the highway.
I normally do not use the bike in the traffic jam, but when I drive it in the traffic, it never went over 100C°.
I think it's not normal that the bike reaches so hot temperatures on the highway, even if the outside is hot as hell.
Anyway, I do not know the air temperature signed on the instrument cluster.
He only wrote that he was turning back to his dealer!
Air should pass IN the radiators, not around! |

On my 1125r, sitting in traffic at 94F (air temp), I have not seen over CT of 215F.
If he is seeing 105C at 120km/h, there seems to be a cooling issue. It's kinda what we expected just from a first view of that design. The original design channels air through the radiators and uses the fans to help. The new design give the air a chance to miss flowing through the radiators and, cooling is reduced.

The hottest I've seen my 99 vfr is 226*F stop & go traffic 95* outside, the 1125 is about 10* below the Honda in the same situation. The Honda's running at speed temp will likely never see 190*
The VFR800 is a very capable bike, corners pretty well even with 25* of fork angle. It does have to be counter steered practically everywhere you go, has very little to no turn-in capability.

I was just thinking the pods would look alot better if they used flat panels that flowed like the frame. Think of the stealth fighter. Thats how they should look. If I had an 1125 Id give it a shot. |

They are simply shrouds. I love the fact it doesn't look the other bikes. I would buy the fairing kit for mine but I don't want to cover up those very cool looking radiator shrouds. I think these bikes stand out from the crowd. I like the way they look. The only bad part is the interest it draws from the public, it makes me late all the time as a lot of people will come right over and ask about the bike. Most recognize the fine engineering and it's sense of purpose. I'd but another one. |

This is a new replacement of original radiators cover
from LorandiResine.
It's not a full replacement but only external parts.
Smaller and fully opened.
I'm very curios to know if it will work..
