I'm wiring up my accessory plug just like it says to in this post, an excellent post BTW. But I'm not getting any juice through the plug. I do test it with the ignition key on, engine not running. What position does the key need to be in? Does the engine need to be running to get power?

Doug - with the first or second flash, ECM keeps the Accy plug off more.
Either plug into a Tender or start the bike.
IIRC you have to be over 12.3 or 4 Volts for the plug to turn on.

I have a Kuryayn LED voltmeter plugged into my Accy and it comes on 1-2 seconds after starting.

I knew when I posted the problem would be something really simple. The run switch needs to be on too. Please cut me some slack I'm on Vicodin and Bailey's.

I am glad that quite a few people have gotten good use out of the write up for the accessory plug build. I was stoked to find the parts and that it actually worked.

Mike, finding the parts is giant (special order for ABQ), but I would never have known how to assemble it without your post.

I also built a plug using that thread - really a life saver.

Like the others, my GPS doesn't come off battery power until the engine is started up.

My parts are on order and shipped today. I will be also building mine off your post, so a BIG "thank you" for sharing the information, Kttemplar!

Speaking of those parts from Ballenger Motorsports. I got doubles of both cause I know me. They cost $2.00. Shipping (1st class mail) was $1.90. Total cost $3.90.

It struck me as ironic that shipping and parts would be almost the same.

LOL...I know me also, and did the same thing. Same quantity, same price.

Then again, I also ordered the Uly accessory plug through Chicago Harley's part number search functionality on their website...I already have the GPS cable with the cigarette adapter, so I may just use that instead of wiring it direct.
