I realize that this is an apples to oranges comparison but I always thought that one of the most clever features of the Britten race bike was to place the radiator underneath the seat.
Does anyone know if BMC experimented with this idea or did they decide that it was just ridiculous for a street bike?

Radiators under the seat are serious bun toasters especially at less than race speeds.

Britten built some intriguing bikes.
I wonder if there are any aero numbers on this one and how they would compare to the RR1000.

Yes. But not under the Buell brand.

Nice -
While I was looking at Court's cryptic reply, the same thing popped in my head.

Glad I'm not the only one...If I recall, the Nova under-seat design was at WillieG's direction to not detract from what he thought a Harley should look like.

EDIT: Come to think of it, this thing was even workign on growing some baby pods:

That's spooky. I've just bought a book about Britten today! Did Erik and John ever collaborate on projects or share ideas?
These guys are in the same league as Phil Irvin and Edward Turner

Spoke on the phone
Joked
Met very briefly once.

Two COMPLETELY different types of people.

Which book did you read? The one by Tim Hanna or Felicity Price?

Got the Felicity Price book,(not delved into it yet) the other was out of stock but it looks a better read. I'll get it when they restock.

Benelli used underseat radiators on the Tornado. It came in for some criticism for excessive heat but they persevered with it. The latest 1130 version continues with the twin underseat fans so they must think it is a viable option.

The last of the original 900cc Tornado models are being sold off at a ridiculously low price of GBP6000 (US$9300) brand new (but 4 years old). Great value for the parts alone and less than half of the original price: )

Every time I look at the tank on that bike I get a groin ache.

Felicity, who is Kirsteen's cousin, wrote her book quickly when they read Tim Hanna's book.

You need to read both.

I've always LOVED the look of the Benelli Tornado Tre. Wonder if the quality and reliability issues have been addressed under the new ownership?

There's only one dealership in a 50 mile radius that I know about. I was intrigued by the TnT when it first came out, but the lack of dealerships and the reliability issues turned me off the idea quickly.

Still a GREAT looking bike.
