I am thinking about getting one but, I am leery of the possible reliability problems due to the fact that it would be my main transportation regardless of weather. Any opinions? |

As a firebolt rider I can do 500 mile days conformably so the 1125 has a large fairing and relaxed ergos should be one of the most comfortable sport bikes on the market. |

Does 21,000 miles in 14 months qualify me as a daily driver Besides changing tires and oil, my 1125rt has been rock solid. No issues. Do it and you'll never look back. Give me a shout if you need more info. Neil S. |

Loretta is a daily driver, I ride all year except when the roads are icy. 18,300 on the Odo. Sometimes she's on a tender, sometimes not for a week or two. This is from a trip into the hills last week.

Mine is a daily driver. I live in Long Island and have a job in the Bronx and a second job in SOHO. Parking in SOHO is so much better with the bike. I ride unless, like some others have said, there is ice on the road. I also give it a day or two after major snow, because of the sand left over. I have had most of the problems with this bike that I have seen listed (they are all listed in my profile as well as other places on this board), with few exceptions. None of them, however, have kept me off the road for more than a couple days. I just make sure to be proactive with the dealership and not drop the bike off until they have all the parts and the Buell tech is there. The only obstacle that I encountered in using this bike as a daily driver was the seat, which I replaced with the firebolt custom seat (a OEM replacement for the stock seat) for about $150 new. Every day. Mine is my primary transpo. Wife has a truck which is plan B for when it's cats and dogs when I leave the house in the morning, but when necessary, I ride home in the rain. Haven't had so much as a hiccup. '09 CR Rob |

i daily drive my 08 1125. i live in reno nevada, so my riding season only lasts about 8 out of 12 months, though. i bought mine last may and it has 8500 miles on it currently. no significant problems, just small annoyances now and again... like you'll get with any other vehicle you buy. |

2009 1125R. Almost 5,000 miles. Pretty much a daily rider, though I've done a couple of 500 mile weekends and one track day. No issues whatsoever. I'll be taking it up to Lake George in a couple of weeks for a day, so that'll be a 500 mile DAY. |

6000 miles in 6 months. Work, shopping, pleasure, etc. If I have to take my Mustang anywhere, I'm bummed. I did have a few problems with clutch weep, but (knock on wood) they SEEM to be resolved. |

If you are that concerned about its reliability, spend extra for the peace of mind that comes with an '09. More importantly, have a service department you can trust. Six out of eight weeks of ownership have been with my bike in the service department of the forum sponsoring dealership where I bought it, while their tech's scratch their heads and keep dialing East Troy for help. No bueno. The testimonials above mine show how rock solid this bike can be. Having access to a good service department is frosting on the cake. (Message edited by stevasaurus on May 26, 2009) |

Steve, That is exactly why I am so hesitant in making a deal for the 1125r. I have a dealership close by that waxes and wanes on Buells. I am not sure about their commitment to the brand. I am not sure about their tech ability. Further, everything that I have mentioned that pops up on the board here seem to be complete unknowns to them. The closest dealers then are more than an hour away. I have that problem now with my Triumph....local dealer sucks, closest good one is hour+ away. In addition, even on this board where the atmosphere is quite positive about the bike, the number of pandemic problems have me concerned. I have ridden the 1125r and know what a great bike it is, but I don't want to be paying on something that is spending its time in the shop while I cage it. That is exactly why I won't buy a Ducati. They are great, but God help you if something breaks. Triumph parts are tough to get, but Ducati...well, you know. I am a huge Buell fan, but I am very nervous about this deal. The local dealer is more than generous and willing to deal, so I cannot ignore them completely. I will be replacing the Triumph soon, and I am just at a loss right now. I seem to be torn between a GSXR600 and the 1125r. Of course, that may change when something new catches my eye....hehehe. Sorry for the long post. |

Mike, So as not to threadjack, I did get a call this afternoon and they found something wrong. I'll PM you about it. Alii1959, I understand your concern, and that's why I felt obligated to pipe up. The price I got on my '08 was too good to say no. And I thought that since most recalls were done, this would be relatively pain-free. Even if there were a few bugs, I could rationalize it by the good deal I got. My service experience has been lacking, but I attribute that more to the dealership than the bike. Again, I recommend the bike. Just go with a 2009 for the expectations of less things that needed to be fixed afterwards. |

Alii I haven't purchased an 1125CR for a number of reasons, and lack of local dealer support is high on the list: I live in Eastern Long Island. Since you have a Triumph, and have a good dealer "only" an hour a way, you might want to take another look at the 2009 Triumph 675. It has gotten very good reviews. The last review of it said it might be the best all around street bike. I rode one a couple of years ago, and really liked it. Just my .02¢ |

Funny you should mention the Daytona. It is on my short list. But, I think I want something that is a bit easier on the ole back. While I really like my Triumph, even considering a Bonnie, I want something a bit more exciting. I dunno. I am even beginning to look at a Lightning again. I like the fact that their technology is very accessible and can be fixed by any Harley dealer with a decent mechanic. They seem to do OK with the sporties and this has nearly the same engine. The 1125r is a great bike, but a bit too unproven for me to risk money and time on, I think. I seem to be getting more and more wishy washy as time goes on. |

I have to be the odd man out. If I am going to pick a "daily driver" it's gonna be this one: perfect ergos, absolute bullet proof, silky four with same h.p.---best of all, if it ever did need service, you can find qualified, knowledgeable mechanics anywhere. I love my R, but if I were only going to have one bike, no way it would be a Buell.

The fact that we all have the right to choose what kind of bike we want, and the fact that we have such a diverse selection, is what makes motorcycling great. I absolutely love my 08 1125R. But I don't think I want to see 10 others just like it on my way to work. The only problem I have had is the IC replaced. Mine is a pre May 08 build. I knew all about it prior to buying the bike, thanks to this great web site!! |

Hey Maul, I'm late to the 2008 research here and wondered if there were more problems with pre-May 2008 builds? Thanks man. |

The only consideration I would give would be pre and post 7-7-08 builds....post 7-7-08 builds have springs more suited for the bike....pre 7-7-08 have too soft springs. if you are a lightweight, it may give you problems with suspension setup. |

Thanks Fresno. I am looking at a 04-2008 build and I am by no means a lightweight. 200+ |
