Sorry to offend anyone, but one would have to be an idiot to spend $4,000 more on an '09 bike versus '08. Short of some minor modifications these are identical bikes.

I m done with the war.
The bike needs 6% more fuel to run perfect. It's not too much power and is vry controllable. The dealer paid 10.3k so hes losin at any price.
and if pain wants my 2008 1125r with 4500 miles it's yours for 9k. U get it with the new injectors and ECM update. Buell is great when fully sorted. I'm probably gonna get the RsvR if u buy it.

Blake:

Isn't there a BadWeB policy against personal attacks on the forums? I don't see how clark's ad-hominem attack relates to the discussion thread (08 vs 09), but it's pretty distracting to the stated purpose of the forums.

The only reason I can see someone getting a new 09R vs an 08R is if they really didnt like the blue frame/wheels. Four thousand dollars can buy a new set of body work in different colors for every day of the week. That is, provided the colors jive with the blue frame. I would love to see blue bodywork on the 08. I know there are a couple customs that have been painted blue, and they look sharp!

Agree with Clark, that was no attack.

I've an 09 and wouldn't know about a price differential, because the 08 wasn't on my radar with the then-furor about probs with the 08. Now that the 08 is fully sorted, is another question. But no, I don't care for the first model's colour schemes, and the 09's black frame is quite handsomely done, notwithstanding what my leathers are doing to the finish of it.

I will say that I'm not at all satisfied with the design and ergonomics of the 09 and have written to Mr. Buell accordingly; and will be selling the bike shortly. I don't expect that any reply from BMC will be able to address the bike's shortcomings for me.

Perhaps there's a buyer out there whose standards are different to mine, because I'm happier with my Hondas and will sell up.

Hey I'm from Wayne, NJ originally..family still there...Im in Kalifornia, Skip Fordyce HD/Buell as the Buell B or Specialist! Hey I take a lot of Krap from some Harley and other rider's that work here but now getting the respect...we deserve. Now we are giving away a 2008 1125R! MMA fights big time, Univision TV/commercial I did for Buell 1125R contest...(foget the pic) http://www.calltoarmsfights.com/

Believe me I take a lot of flak from the so called purists/Jap rice cookie cutters/Ducs/gorillas; oh Aprilias! sorry (that I have owned and worked for and the Ducs). I went American and own a nice 09 1128CR moded by Jardine/Mark Dobeck?K&N/ASV..more to follow.

I have sold more 2008 1125R's at this store lately..down to one demo, a deal and 08 Used with 820 miles for 8995.oo OBO.

Just sold a brand new one with all the recalls done for 8995 + fees..cost/loss.
We are a large HD/Buell dealership..store within store concept w/Erik Buell.

I love giving and turning the regular cookie cutter guy/duc/prilia,etc. to Buell...even the air cooled V twins are selling great! Firebolts! XB9SX....(guy switched from his 2002 R6 he had new)...he was young in his 20's...selling more in So Cal to the inline 4 gang...my mission is accomplished!...come by any time....to bargain with me or sales...we'll sell em! Lots of parts/acc and aftermarket also....

Thanks to all my fellow Buellers for your support. I almost gave up on Buell and living in Kalifornia....I'm pure Jersey Jerk!...with the attitude....ask my wife..lol...all in fun.....Enjoy the 2008 just as much...the fuel injectors were mostly done as an upgrade..targeted fuel injectors/relocated O2 sensors for future EPA fuelling reasons. Just what I was told from HD/Buell R&D. Hey fo get abou it! Just Ride...a Buell!

What the hell? Why don't you go into some detail about what exactly you don't like about the ergos and design. Love to hear it.

Aren't you the one complaining about the front fairing and the LACK of wind protection? If there is one thing universally praised, it's the quiet zone behind the fairing.

Short of redesigning and reengineering the bike and sending you a prototype, I agree that any response from BMC probably won't help.

I won't miss your posts, Fresno. They always make it clear that you've missed the point of not just my posts, but everyone elses, too. How do you manage to get things so back-to-front, which you've elevated practically to an art form?

P.S. My 09 R has been at the local dealer for 3 weeks waiting for parts (burnt out charging system under warranty) and surely won't be ready until week 4 is over; not that the dealer has any idea when the parts will arrive.

Weird.
Considering that my 08 1125 is now turning into one of the best bikes I've ever owned. (Post remap, and wow all it took was just a remap!?).
(And that does include a number of the Japanese big four bikes).
Considering that the main reason I bought the 1125 was because it has the best ergos on the sportbike market. (And my bad back and knees have made the comparisons and tell me that it is true).
Considering that I've personally seen a number of 08s racing very well with all that "bad" 08 stuff on them. ( That includes a few Daytona bikes too).

I have to think that there is a lot more emotion than substance to a few of the statements in this thread.

Oops, I nearly forgot.
Buy an (updated) 08 if you like the blue/black and want to save money.
Buy an 09 if you like the colors better and it's worth the extra money to you.
It's that simple.
The rest of the BS being thrown around this thread isn't worth squat.

Out of the five bikes I have had this is the only one that I can ride 6 hours straight and still want to get back on and ride some more. Ergos are pretty good for a 6'1" 230 lb guy IMO.

It fits me excellently at 5'9" as well!
I also really like how much flatter the bars are than on the metrics and Italians, more leverage and better all day ride comfort!

I'm 5'11" and have spent 9-10 hours days on my 1125. Ergos are as good as it gets for a sport bike.

why don't you answer the question instead of talking around the question?

Seems to me that you have have things "back-to-front." Let's see, you are the one who so brilliantly bought a bike with bad design and ergos--according to your assessment. Although you won't illustrate WHY you don't like the ergos and design, I assume that it was something(s) you could/should have checked out prior to purchase.

Have fun assimilating back into the anonymity of being a Honda rider.

Well, I went to see the 1125R. 08 or 09, its just not for me. After surgeries on both wrists and one carpal tunnel, its just too extreme of a position for me. Went looking all day today and ended up putting money down on a V-Strom 650. Really surprised how comfortable it was..I did look at the Ulysses but with the 650 costing about half, no-brainer for me.

GO AND LOOK AT BOTH!!! Buy which ever one u like better. If u don't like either, go find the bike that YOU like best. The bike your buddy likes best might not be the right one for you.

No. Where did you find a Ulysses for $5000? The X I saw as $11495 and the XT was $12,999. Got the DL650 for $6695. Not exactly half but close.

I'll add in to the ergos - I've had a few bikes and The most miles I ever got before in a day was 600 on a Softail. 20 years ago.
Coming home from Homecoming last year I rode from East Iowa to my garage in Colorado in 24 hours - a little over 900 miles.
Tim(Smoke) is in the IronButt records on his 11.

She's pretty comfy for a fast girl.

Another difference I am curious about is reliability. 2008 was a teething problem year, and many patient (some not so patient) souls have put up with their bikes in the shop for weeks or months for various issues. (weeping clutches, battery drain, heat issues, rear indicators, etc)

Have any '09 owners put on big miles yet? If so, are there similar reliability issues to '08's or different ones, or have they pretty much been resolved?

It would be worth it to me to spend the extra money to not have my bike spend lots of time in the shop the first year I own it.

go look at them your self! what do you see diff colors??? thats all it is! the 08 wont be SOLD and let OFF THE DEALER FLOOR before all the recalls are done and its just as good as an 09. as for all the guys with the 1125r ergos suck blah blah blah... please just stop using this forum. why put down a bik that many of us love so much? it just makes a heated battle. i really wish blake would chime in here and straighten stuff out cuz this is gettin really old. i went on a 400 mile trip this week end with a member from here with a uly and a blast. and we had a nice convo about how the 1125r sec is the only one with FIGHTING! all the other ones are peacefull and nice.... is it more squids are getting a 25r now or just hot headed ppl?

While I agree the 1125 section has the most bickering I've seen in a while, I do remember the Uly section being fairly similar a couple years ago. Maybe it's growing pains for each new model?
