The 1098 was a JOY to ride on the street (for me, I am fairly athletic and flexible for an old guy...) and yes, my 1125 IS MORE comfortable on the street.

However, I am no track pro, I have been around a racetrack a few times, no racing no license.

The engine on that Duc had a feel that I can't describe, but it was definitely awesome. Super SMOOOOTH and a ton of power.

Of course, it did have pipes and all the requisite goodies that go with them (? airbox, ecm at a minimum, I believe)

And, my )beloved) 1125 is bone stock minus a denoiding.

The 1125 is lacking the REFINEMENT of the Duc, but...

That is an evolution of a long standing, raceproven well sorted-out designn, whereas we are just beginning with our bike and motor.

Now that's a good reason to be excited about the 2011 models.

Be safe over there.

Ponti1 - Clutch slave, about 10 days, leaking at 35 miles. IC - 800 miles, now 1050 miles, waiting on the new IC and for the mechanic to diagnose 9 fault codes. We suspect the fault codes are bogus as the IC is bad but the factory wants all 9 run to ground. Front brake line recall too. Mine was pretty worn at 1050. I'm not upset in the least as I knew what I was getting into with an '08. I figure I've got a couple more months of sorting in front of me.

All I know is on my track day last Monday it was a BLAST!

Bigschwerm - Godspeed grunt - Blackdeath 7 - OUT!

Back on subject.

Why just wait a few months for the 2010 models? May as well wait a year and a few months for the 2011s. Of course if you're gonna wait that long, just wait another year for the 2012s, they're sure to be better yet.

Have I made my point yet????

No. If the bike does not improve in two years the company will be history. Your analogy would work if there was no competition and no reason to improve things as you go.

ugh.

every vehicle mfg tweaks and improves their vehicles every year. The 2009 1125r had improvements over the 2008, and the 2010's will likely have improvements over the 2009's. its a constant cycle.

Name me one thing, from Pringles chips to Tiffany rings that have not "improved" from year to year.

I think you missed my point. I CANNOT buy before next year, or I would already have a new bike in my garage right now. My financial plan has me ripe to buy in early 2010.

Unfortunately, Buell and HD do an amazing job of keeping a very tight lid on future plans. Even the dealers are in the dark. We were doing our preliminary ordering for the 2010 Buells for august/september we were only able to order a few XB models and Blasts. There will be a new color on some of the XB bikes but that's is all it is described as at this point. "new color" As for the 1125 models, those will trail the 2010 launch by a few months possible Oct/Nov time frame. Be patient speculation will just make you crazy.

Yes it is making us crazy, at least me. My big fear is the slower sales will cut evolution speed down. In my head 2010 is a dream bike. Dead sexy beast!

At my age, mid-30s, I see a time when I will not be able and/or willing to ride a bike like the 1125r. I'll be damned if I am gonna waste that precious time speculating on what improvements the following year's model might bring.

Sure, I might have saved a couple thousand bucks (or more) if I didn't have one the first 1125rs off the assembly line...but then I would have missed an entire riding season on this wonderful machine. I wouldn't change a thing if I had it all over to do again.

+1 Harlan(Fresnobuell), my feelings exactly but don't cut yourself short. I am considerably older then you but enjoy my 1125R on every ride and I am still physically able to use it "almost" to its full potential. The street, in my case canyons, maybe as you are as well is the limiting factor. Safety first to be able to continue for at least a while longer. Track day, maybe, at Millers this year. My bike is number 292 and I have also enjoyed a year and a half of fine riding, best ever since I started in the 60's. Keep on riding and stay safe. Bob
