Production of 2010 bikes is still a few months away, but is anyone in the know aware of new colors or other improvements?

Don't do that to yourself. Life is too short and tomorrow isn't promised. Live for today.

yes. And initial test builds will begin in a couple weeks.

Don't do that to yourself . . . it's a fruitless annual exercise.

Cant always wait til next year. Eventually, we all run out of next years.

My point is if you like something that's out now, go get it. Like Social Distortion says in the song Reach for the Sky, "Tomorrow may never come."

I agree, if you like the '09's go buy one and enjoy the ride today, this Spring, this Summer and Fall.

Years ago I was a manager of a bicycle shop and pretty much every Sunday "Lester" came in to waste my time and ask a billion questions about the current bikes and what was coming down the pipe. His current ride was a mid level bike that was a POS. I let him ride pretty much every bike in the shop...for the next TWO YEARS! So instead of riding a new bike that was 20 years newer than what he owned, he waited for the "perfect" bike, which he bought from another shop BTW. Once I left the business I heard from a co-worker that a few years later he was looking for a new bike, so much for the perfect bike.

So...buy one and go ride, you'll love it!

I think that the new bikes should be punched out 3mm for 1195cc and BMC should offer an overbore kit for older bikes. We're leaving too much on the table.

I hear they are installing a Flux Capacitor for 2010. : )

I can't blame you. When you put your good money down, you want to get what you want. Nothing sucks worse than buying a new bike, then a few weeks later, the next model year comes out and it's EXACTLY what you wanted. Buyers remorse is a horrible thing.

I'm assuming when most people see something they like they buy it I'm also waiting for a future model. Cars Trucks and Motorcycles all have life cycles as you can watch the sales trend fall with time as the current desired market reaches saturation. Price drops can spur spikes in sales but in cars Honda and Toyota stay on top by continuing to improve and does not wait for the sales to drop off.

I think you will see another spike in Buell sales if upcoming models are a little less controversial in the styling mix.

I'll tell you what, I love my 1125R, and know it's the best bike I have ever owned, and thought it has to be one of the best bikes ever built(for the price)

I just rode my friends 1098 today...

She got it this morning, and handed me the key at lunchtime...

Buell has their work cut out for them, they(and Rotax) better step up to the plate, and soon, because if they don't, my next bike is italian, and let me tell you, I have never, if I could possibly help it, bought anything from overseas in my life.

(Well, it did inspire me to try and fine-tune my POS suspension even more today, which was time WELL SPENT!)

(Sorry, flame-on!)

Then go duc. I'll keep my duc beater...all the racer's at sportrider mag rated all ducs on the bottom. hard to ride..long arms and short legs...thats why the 1125R wins..easy to ride fast. End of discussion. go waste your money..i rode the 1098's on the Las Vegas motor speedway and I was not impressed...not even for all that extra money and maintenance. I'll keep function and form over what you assume as beauty..And I am European...a mutt. My 2 cents and the racer's who agreed. Real racers, not wanna be mag writers for making money.

Damn Racer. The guy said he Loves his 1125R. He mentions market pressures/competitors and you tear him a new one?

Buell is better served by customers that are aware and desire the best then those that wear blinders. I think your post is an excellent example of the mentality that provides American Manufactures a false sense of security. We are all Buell customers. and are at a time in history where "good enough" is not enough.

Lets keep the spirt to strive for best in class alive. To not be as good as others, but to be the best in the world. It starts with a desire and an awareness of what consumers want.

Unfortunately, speculation over next year's models means this year's models sit on the dealer floor gathering dust...

Come on everybody we do this every year and none of us ever get it right, Erik is gonna stump us all if they even do something new this year.

Ducati builds a fine motorcycle.

My problem with them is maintenance and cost (purchase and parts). You better have some deep pockets if you're gonna ride a Ducati.

The maintenance argument doesn't hold water. My 11 has now been in the shop for 50% of the time I've owned it, 4 of 8 weeks. I don't think that even a Duc is that bad.

I own 3 Buells (S1-X1-XB12) and a 1098 S. I might have been not lucky, but my 1098 had a lot of problems lately. but to be honest, everything was taken care of under warranty, when my bike couldn't run, I called Ducati Roadside Assistance and in less than 1 hour, I got the tow-track at my door to pick up the bike and bring it to the dealer, absolutely free! this makes Ducati different from anyone else.
and I honestly think that you can't compare 2 bikes that have $10K in price difference!
but the 1098 is a track bike, you can't really enjoy it in the street. I have the slipper clutch also, and it's so nervous in the city!
I put my Duc on sale because I want an 1125CR, much more useable for me...

I heard that Buell is going back to only offering black. It seems that after much testing the other colors just slowed the bike down way too much.

When the cost of said maintenance comes out of your pocket for scheduled work, rather than from Buell's for warranty work, it sure as hell does hold water.

I don't think so. Duc cut their interval in half a year or two ago. I'm just glad I bought the five year warranty because right now my confidence isn't too high.

Besides I pull all of my maintenance.

Hellgate, what all have you had her in the shop for? I have been a proud owner for just over a year, and aside from a few bad rear turn signals (replaced myself in less than 15 minutes per instance) I have only had her in the shop for recall work (less than a total of a day).

Sheesh! I was just looking for intel since we seem to have some on the inside here.

I won't be buying ANY bike 'til next year when some bills and my current bike are paid off. The 1125R is one of four or five bikes in consideration, I was just looking for tweaks that might give Buell the edge in my quest.

BTW, if I croak tomorrow, I won't feel I've missed a THING!

Back on subject.

Why just wait a few months for the 2010 models? May as well wait a year and a few months for the 2011s. Of course if you're gonna wait that long, just wait another year for the 2012s, they're sure to be better yet.

Have I made my point yet????
