While my bike was in for the 12K service I had the latest recall done as well. I thought when they relocated the the gas tank vent, they were supposed to drill the passenger peg. At any rate they did not so I fixed it. No more gas dripping on the swingarm. So what does the gas tank vent on the 09's look like?

yes they were supposed to drill it. basically they tokk the quick and easy way...

although even with it run through the mount it still keeps dripping. i am going to HAVE to figure out something different this season. especially since i never usually have passenger pegs on my bikes.

although since i just have the left one on the 1125 it has come in really handy for all those stand up wheelies!

the only reason they were doin the recall is to help take some of the smell away right? im not sure i want it done. becuase i want to leave the passenger pegs off..

they were doing the recall more because the way it came stock pumps the fuel out of the vent line right onto the muffler.

i see i can see why that probably isnt the best thing to happen. i was actually thinkin about a catch can, but to mount it into the tail u would be asking the gas to go up hill and deposite into the can. it would work if it was manly vapor but its a long way to go and have it stay in vapor form. but this is just me pondering.

I have no passenger pegs either.
Max routed the vent line down the right side and tied it off to the rear brake cylinder.

The 09 tank vent discharges in the same area.
I wanted to remove the passenger pegs and hangers so modified/extended the breather to discharge at the bottom of the licnece plate without dropping the fluid onto the tyre or belt with the bike on the sidestand

It's only a vent line. I would think it would be fine if it went uphill, becuase if the vapors did condense back into a liquid, then it would drip back down to the tank, assuming the vent line was large enough.

The gas tank in your car vents upwards as well.
