The mounting brackets are now designed and the final prototype systems are on their way back to Kevin in Hickory. The production drawings are done and ready for water jet cutting. He has a donor bike for final tweaking of the downpipe bends and then we are ready for the dyno room and on the road testing.

The mocked up prototype looked really good on my bike! Sorry, no pics yet. Kevin has to approve the fitment personally first. He's such a GD perfectionist! (but then so am I)

Order of appeal to me:
1) Black Ceramic
2) Black Paint
3) Stainless Steel

No rusting and gains in torque throughout the rev range are what I'd spend money on.

Required:
- No performance loss
- Good looks
- Nice sound

Preferred:
- Performance increase

I'd personally prefer the flat black look of the stock muffler, but would have no problem with a semi-gloss or gloss black appearance. No desire for anything silver, which is why I painted the heat shield to begin with...

ya, i should have mentioned i think flat black would be the best on mostly stock looking bikes.

although im not sure if i would rather have flat or gloss considering what my plans for my 1125 are this winter

SHINY!!!

Why send all that $$ to Kevin if the new pipe doesn't catch the eye of the local yokels -- not when the most we (apparently) can hope for is 'no power loss' (no offense meant to Drummer).

Shiny does not fit the color scheme of the 1125r. Some of us don't feel the need to catch the attention of bystanders...BTW the drummer will have a reasonable noise volume. That may disappoint the attention seekers.

^ I hope so. Im so sick of loud exhaust. I came off my Honda which was god awful loud. (dual Sato's) I love not having my brain rattle inside my skull when I am running down the road. But, a slightly deeper note would not be unappreciated by any means.

The pipe will be black with a brushed stainless single right side exhaust tip. It will be turned out similarly to all Drummers.

Can hardly wait to see the new drummer..why is winter so long here in the frigid north?
Maybe a move to NC to be a full time development subject would be cool?

"That may disappoint the attention seekers." C'mon, anyone who's riding an 1125 instead of a "common" CBR is an attention seeker.

How is wanting to be different the same as seeking attention?

YOur desire to have a bling bling pipe is attention seeking. If I wanted attention, I would have bought a Ducati.

Wanting to be different IS exactly the same as seeking attention. Wanting to be the SAME is ensuring that we DON'T get attention. The Japanese have a saying: the nail that sticks up, gets hammered down. Kind of like what's going on right now, don't you think?

I don't think liking a polished stainless pipe is any different from the polished pipes that have been standard issue on motorbikes around the world since at least the 1950s. Certainly they're standard issue on the Jap bikes that run around here.

Let's not confuse your personal animosity, with reality. Instead let's focus on getting to the truth: which is that some of us want polished pipes, and some of us don't. To quote a fellow Californian, "can't we all just get along?"

Personally, when I post my "shiny" , I'm just having a bit of fun. Because I'm quite happy to stay with what Buell provided; and have ordered a stocker to open up for more sound. Though I do hear that the stocker rusts.

Hmmm, that gives me an idea. Maybe I could have it polished and plated!!

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one cause I know that I buy Buell due to the fact that it's different and I couldn't care less if people take note of it or not.

As far as the comparison to Jap bikes having polished pipes, you must be referring to older Japanese bikes as the new crop are certainly moving away from them...and those that have the polished pipe are not flattering (that's putting it kindly.)

Fresno, I agree we can disagree. And I appreciate that we were able to rise above it all and keep it from getting personal. I've emailed Blake more than once about how much I appreciate the high quality of discourse on the Board; and the high level of knowledge; and the willingness to actually help each other with this bike.

Forget the colors...where do the Drummer Gent's stand in testing now?

WE got REAL pipes to test now boys! NOTHING like the first ones out...

no, brown would look like a turd under the bike.

There are several different colors of high-heat paint and there's ceramic coatings.
Just make 'em raw and let us finish...

I liked the sound of that square Euro-can on the Ducati.

When can we order one, Kevin?

Not a bad idea. Kevin could save time and money, drop the price a bit and we could finish it any way we like. Certainly would make for good Badweb fodder to say the least!

Kevin's got all the parts and templates as of today. It shouldn't be long before he has a final prototype or two ready for testing.
