Got mine done this afternoon. No charge took less than 1/2 hour.

1st impression: 25r started cleaner when warm and idled a little higher at start ~1500 rpm. After 30-60s settled to 1200 rpm. I did notice that when you are slipping the clutch out w/o and throttle, the rpm increase to about 1700-1800 rpm.

B4 2nd flash, I had slight to medium surging b/t 2500-3500 rpm. Now I can barely detect any surging. It is reduced to the point that the V-twin power pulses are more than the surging used to be in this rpm range. I was able to take any gear down to the 2500-3000 range with steady throttle w/o any issues.

On the way to the dealer I kept my MPG average display up and was typically showing 36-39 mpg. This was at speeds from 55-80. Now I'm getting 45-48 mpg over the same terrain, riding style and traffic. I am very impressed, it's a 15-20% increase in mpg.

This after about 60 miles of riding. I even had a stint at a gravel driveway (1/4 mile) that had some pretty steep sections and turns (might be our next house w/ 6 acres). I was able to maintain ~2500-3000 rpm in 1st w/o any issues of surging or coughing. It was a new pleasant experience.

So, tomorrow I'll add another 110+ miles of smiles. My take on this 2nd flash is..... GO FOR IT!!!!

Later
All.

I'm jealous!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be joining the ranks of 45+ mpg 25R's ; )

I'll have to wait until tomorrow PM, riding home, to tell the difference.

i just got to thinking. most of you guys are probably basing you average off of what the gauge says arent you?

mine says i should be getting 29 mpg but when i fill up and actually figure it i got 24mpg on the last tank. the instant says i get roughly 32 most of the time but that has always been a long ways off of my real average at fill up.

My Average MPG indicator would always be between 31-32. When I fill up it would come out to be within 1/2 gallon. So I feel mine is pretty accurate. I have checked it on the last 6 fill ups and all have been the same.

With the new flash mine is now showing 39 average MPG doing the same 60 mile rt commute. I will see on fill up how accurate the onboard calculator is with the new flash.

My commute consists of 20 miles of twisty hills from sea level to 1000 ft elevation and back down followed by 10 miles of freeway. Then back home the same way

I usually figure mine out with a calculator and it has been consistently at 32 mpg.

Almost 7000 miles , mine has always gone back to an average of 31mpg , I've only reset it probably less than 4 times .

It has always been pretty accurate compared to my own calculations .

I am curious to see if there really is an MPG improvement .

I just had my re-flash done this morning. Using the Buell-O-Meter, I was constantly averaging right at 30 mpg, and my manual calcs agreed...usually LESS.

On the ride from the dealer (about 20 miles and no resets of the current average from about 50 miles) I'm already up to 33 mpg cumulative average, so the reflash has already made that significant an impact. The instantaneous is always above 30, something I NEVER saw prior unless I was at cruising speed on the highway. It runs a LOT smoother below 4k and I've even been in 4th gear a lot more!! I'm likin' it a LOT!!!

Hitman44139, part of the belt was starting to fray, so they are working on the problem and replacing the belt. that and 9 other things on my list lol. I cant wait to get it back and try out the new flash. And actually have blinkers and a speedometer to look at haha.

About 300 miles post flash :

PROS :

Reset MPG counter , went from 31mpg avg to 36mpg , and i was reading higher , but most of my riding this weekend was sub-streets , will wait and see were it averages with daily commute miles averaged in. May end up with higher yet ?

Maybe cooler , but daytime highs have been cooler here as well.

"Seat-of-my-pants" meter says slight power gain.

"MUCH" smoother thruout entire power band .

Rev's return to idle much quicker .

Engine is less noisy at idle .

Better starting , she used to start hard , and sounded like she had a bunch of loose bolts inside , idle would go all over the place , now she starts with one quick pop , and she's up and running , steady and smooth .

NEG :

I am still getting some "surge' and 'bucking" , nothing at all like prior , but still there never the less .

Fuel values both at 100 ( normal at sea level iI suppose )

Surges around 3500 and 5000 rpm's , will give her some more time to learn and see what happens .

Also several stall's right at tip in at take off ???

OVERALL : more pro's than con's , will give her some more time to settle down , if not ......back to the dealer .

Xb9 rode mine for a few minutes Saturday, and when he got back he said it was "perfect". He's got WAY more experience than I do on motorcycles, so if he agrees with me that it's perfect, than it shall be declared to be.

Ben, perfect on your example doesn't mean it is perfect on all examples.

This is a speculative statement: I think there have been some updates/changes within the '08 production run from the early builds.

Yours is a June build, fairly late so you would have one of the latest "up-to-date" builds.

There is a new diagnostic procedure from Buell that the dealer will use if the bike still exhibits driveability problems after this reflash. Talk to your dealer if these problems persist even if to a leaser degree.
