NoRice's thread got me thinking even more. i guess this is kinda a poll.

If you had it to do all over again, would you trade or sell your xb to acquire the 1125r? why or why not? thanks in advance for any insight.

Not me. The 1125R is a cool bike and long awaited but to many things remind me of present Buell's or past. The price is not bad but more then I'd spend for it. If I was going to get rid of my XB it would not be another XB nor the 1125R.

I thought I would miss her more.
Rode my old XB9 when I was in Texas and found her primitive and awkward after 6,000 miles on the 1125R.

Guess the answer's yes, here.
Glad I got the 1125R.

Bads1, this poll is for "Former XB owners", ie. current 1125r owners. Let's try not to turn this thread into non-owners trying to justify why the 1125r is not in their garage.

That being said, HELL YES I would buy it again. I still own my XB, but it is only a backup and possibly a commuter bike since it gets significantly better MPG. It gets zero attention now. I don't see that changing. The 1125r is simply addicting.

I found the same thing when only riding the XB for short jaunts, sandwiched around weeks on the 1125r. However, when my 25r was shelved for a couple weeks while I organized my tire-changing party, I got two weeks back on the XB.

After I got back in the touch with the XB's vast differences, I very much enjoyed the time on the XB again. It was a pleasure and also a tribute to how great that bike is. SO much so, that I ALMOST intentionally put off the 25r tire change for another week...

I'so sorry Fresno. Excuse meeeeeee. I had a deposit on the bike before it was even unvailed at Road America last year. I didn't dismiss it because of handling cues nor its impressive engine. Not even the pods. Just the styling cues. So yes I got my money back before I made a rash decision.

That's alright, Bads1. It is inevitable that non-owners witll interject in a thread that is asking the opinions of those who "took the plunge."

Not sure I qualify for this poll , not being a prior Xb or Buell owner , but I have no regrets with my purchase .

I think there is room for improvement , but for Buells first run with the 1125 , it's to be expected , I love this bike , more than any of my previous bikes or the bikes sitting in my garage now....i think they're still there ?

I also know I've been frustrated with some of my post's here on BWB ,but I'm impatient sometimes and I feel like I'm venting to the only people who might understand , or wait...is that something else ???

I guess for me , she is so close to perfect , I want it all ....

I would do it again ,

I took the plunge in around bout way. Sent my friend through paper work the whole bit.Money down and the financing is a no problem. I just saw it Sunday and I changed my mind. I'm sure your enjoying it very much. My buyers remorse hit quick enough that I didn't take delivery. I am however looking forward to Buell's liquid cooled future and the hopes that they produce what my wallet is going to open for. I didn't mean to infringe on this thread though.

yes, i plan on bringing both. the new paint is no show job by any means. its not bad or anything but there is a light spot on the fender we need to fix.

i am not about to complain. when a friend with a body shop thats been been pulling customers from other states for 30 years says he will paint it for free one night after a few drinks i am not one to argue.

we only had a couple hours worth of time(started at about 12:30am) and a little over $600 in paint that i wasnt allowed to pay for.

i hoped to have a few things changed by then, but i doubt i have enough time anymore.

I kept my XB12 STT and added the 1125r to my garage. I didn't want to take a huge loss on my 6-month old STT, and I wanted the 1125r. Once I justified the additional money for insurance, etc., I was OK.

Now I must admit that the 1125r get at least 85% of my riding time. However, I'm also glad I held on to my STT because when I do get it our for a longer ride, I also "bond" with its unique characteristics and really enjoy the change of pace it forces me to take. The XB's are cool bikes, but the 1125r is smoother, faster, quicker handling, and waaayy more powerful. It's addictive!

I loved the old Firebolt!
But I'd be happy to trade it in again on an 1125 in a heartbeat.

I had a couple of XB9's, put over 45K on them. Good Mix of track and street. Have over 2500 miles on the 1125r now. I 'kinda' miss the Xb9's, and I might own another XB (I love the STT) in the future. Having used both bikes for street and track, here's my feelings:

XB: Strength is for street riding, weakness is power(only) on the track. Was not happy with the engine reliability, although I must say I 'used' those engines beyond their maximum capability on the track. I rode those bikes hard.

1125R: Strength is for track riding (big WOW factor), little disappointed with it as a street bike right now. It's not bad, actually It's fantastic on the open road above 55 MPH; if Buell can get the surging and poor lower RPM drivability problem solved, I would then have to say it is the best of both worlds.

oh, that said....NO regrets,I'd do it again no problem.

after riding the valley for a while, i rode the back way out to biketown harley in austintown on sunday to test ride the 1125r. get out there and the bike is in the back cuz someone dropped another bike next to it and it caught the mirror. broke the glass and turn signal. no demo allowed. at least it was a nice ride there and back.

Fres. I see you still have an XB9SX. I am getting the 1125R in about 15 days and will be keeping my 05 XB9SX. How does the ol XB9 feel to you now?

I have 6 Buells at the moment, including an 08 Uly and an 1125R.

If I could ONLY have one, it would be the Uly, not the 1125R.

That said, I like the 1125R a lot. And if I was doing a lot of track work, it'd be the one.

Hard question to answer.

Yes....I do love my 1125R (Elvira)
No.....prefer the gas mileage of my '05 XB9SX...45mpg any riding vs 30mpg best so far, only on the freeway...in town is about 27mpg (Elvira is good at "sucking")

Yes, the 1125R is a better handling bike IMHO, the XB shorter wheelbase is OK, but...

No, the XB9 has enough grunt and speed to thrill just fine

Yes, love the acceleration
No, XB9 is quick enough

Yes, the 1125R headlights are great
No, the XB9 lighting is adequate, I don't ride much at night

Yes, the touring seat is going to be added for long trips
No, the XB9 seat is cushy enough stock

No, the XB9 is paid for
Yes, the 1125R is financed...doesn't everyone owe the bank lots of money?

could go on, but it is just personal choice....YES I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!

I enjoyed the heck out of my XB. I loved it's character and quirks, from the first time I started it. I loved the dance it did on the sidestand at idle - made me laugh - and it put a grin in my helmet in lots of other ways.

But, the one thing that I never quite got past was the early power shutoff - and that right in the meat of the torque curve. The 1125 picks up where the XB left off. There is no way that I would go back.

I've got a little different take since I've never owned an XB. This is the first brand new bike and the first I had to make payments on in almost 20 yrs. That was a big step for me to worry about payments and full coverage ins. but it's been SOOO worth it and after my first trackday on the thing I'm sure I'll be giggling all the way home and I'd do it again.
The Evil one and the Fast one.

Go back?
I seem to just go forward and keep the past. Still have my 96 S1 and 03 XB9R.
I would do the 1125R purchase again in a heartbeat. Because the 1125R is a on the road.
