The first dealership to get a bike will be followed by others in a matter of hours. I would imagine whoever is closest to the distribution centers will be the first to get theirs. All Buell dealerships in the U.S. will be getting them at pretty much the same time, give or take a day or two.

Eboos, how do you know? My dealer still has its 1125r at the first status--"released to plant" or something like that.

I do not have any solid information as to when each dealership will get their bikes, but I know that they do not want any dealership to wait while others have the bike.

Even if every dealership gets only one, they will get them out as close to the same time as they possibly can.

Fresno - you should be getting a VIN for your first bike very soon. Court said the new buyers would be riding in 6 days or something to that effect. I take that loosely to mean there is a priority on getting 1 or 2 to every dealer as close to simultaneously as possible. I would expect that after every dealer has gotten one they will concentrate on filling orders. The dealers I've checked here by Denver only have one confirmed shipping now each. It's good to be a No. 1.

The first wave is en route now, sounds like everybody will have their new toy soon. If some of us don't explode before it gets here.

Z

Thanks for letting us KNOW Anony. beats guessing any day.

One or two to each dealer simultaneously is not going to happen. I do believe each dealer will get their first before any dealers get their second, but the production rate is slower than we hoped. Everything is coming in perfect, except one component is not being manufactured at the scheduled rate. Once we had 100 or so done we decided to start shipping, but that isn't one per dealer. They are coming, but I just wanted to clear the air since some are thinking we waited to ship until we had enough for one or two per dealer done.

Anony, how does Buell determine which dealers get the first bikes?

Mine is supposed to be delivered Thursday. I am getting heated grips so have been told to pick it up end of day Thursday or Friday.

I got my VIN last week. I am in Seattle.

Tim, what did they tell you the heated grips were going to cost installed??? Mine is #2 there and I was told I was going to be the guinea pig for how long install would take. They said 2-3 hours labor to me but also that they weren't sure.

2-3 hours to install heated grips? That can't be right. Even if they are way slow on the first couple go arounds, it seems unfair to pass on the extra labor to the owner.

My dealer is Downtown Harley in Tukwilla, WA. Total for the heated grips (parts and labor) was about 360 I think. About triple what it should cost - but I HATE screwing w/grips - so I let them do it. Kevin is the tech - he hates grips too. : )

I thought I read once that the bikes will be pre-wired (please correct me if I am wrong) for the heated grips. If that is true I can't see it taking more than an hour.

Andella - the problem isn't getting power - it is the total PITA of swapping grips. I know - I am a pansy in this department - so am willing to be gouged to get it done (and get done right) rather than do it myself.

I already have the grip kit, there is one or two places you need to drill holes, pretty involved process. I can see it taking an hour or so. The hard part electrically looks like finding the connector in the spaghetti behind the fairing.

Thanks Tim, Fresno and Zac. I was quoted up to 270 labor and the cost of the grips was about 158, same dealer in Tukwilla. Gonna givem' a call tomorrow by golly. I may be putting them on myself.

Tim, did they say anything about the #2 bike (mine)? Last week they said it was going to be there between the 7th and 10th but I haven't got a vin yet. No matter, just wondering since you're close.

No Prob then Johnny -

If you're in the next wave, I'll post or send you a photo tutorial as I install the grip kit. Doesn't look difficult, just a bit time consuming. Direction sheet is pretty long but there's directions for XBR, XBS and XBX bikes too.

For $270, you could pick up a six of Stella Artois and kick back in the garage and do it yourself.
Oh BTW, the grip kit is $187 list, not $158.
Tim - looks like they're sticking you for 2 hrs @ $86.50/hr Ouch.

Alrightythen!!!!!! Got my VIN today, and an expected date of the 13th or 14th. It is on it's way. That would be the #2 at Tukwilla where Bigdog Tim got his.

Zac, I got a solid quote today of 320.00 for the heated grips, installed, so I'm going to go with that. But please, if you need to send pics I'll gladly give'm a lookin at. I'm one of those take it apart and see what makes it tick guys but just don't have time yet for this one and really need the grips for the 4 hour ride home. I have a feeling it's going to be a cold one. Besides, you'll probably have your bike before I get mine!

Johnny - 320 sounds fair for what you're up against. I'd do the same. Mine will come out of the box and go into the garage for seat, bra and grips. Then, weather and daylite permitting, a bit of a ride. If it shows up today, I'll see what tomorrow looks like. If the weather's dry, I'll take the day off and put as many miles on her as I can.

Keeping my fingers crossed for "all youse guys"
