Is it just me, or are the welds on the exhaust a little rough?

If you look at the studio photos on buell.com they are very smooth, almost seemless.

Now we have real world photos that look rough, and unfinished.

Is this just an early pre-production model?

Not a big fan of the muffler. That's the only thing I'm not terribly impressed with. I'm sure the after market will provide better alternatives.

I agree that the welds look really rough. I don't really like the twin exit pipes either.

Beyond that. Cat's A$$!

Yes. Several months of work remains.

BELT DRIVE!! They DID IT! Now I'm stoked! I was afraid we'd have to deal with one of those messy chains but no! How cool is that??

Any one notice that they how many ideas they " stole " from badwebbers.

The dash is very like Typeone's.

Hiding the rear brake is definitely Speedy's idea.

On the other hand................

I don't think any of our brothers will be claiming credit for the muffler!!

Jon, ((-:

I wrote in an other post:

"first of all, the dogbone exhaust is a again a genius strike of the company. It bring the constructors needs of bikes low center of gravity and mass centralization together with ground clearence.

If you have not the space for a one piece underengine exhaust, why not split it in two pieces? Well done! This idea impress me."

The construction have my greatest respect!

I am sure that the financial departement cancelled the Undertranny Motorspoiler (we need anyway for the track).... (-:

So, the carbonfiber is rolled out.... (-:

I do like how the belt is now on the left side of the bike much like the HD big twins, however, with the routing of that thing through the swingarm, how easy will that be to replace if it breaks?? It looks kinda tight in there. Also, I guess we lost the oil in the swingarm and have become like most of the euro/metric bikes...

Haha.

Somebody put the cover on while the pipes were still hot.

Interesting, on the Road America 1125R they have two left-facing pegasus logos, one on each side of the engine.

On the bike shown in the press release there are two right-facing pegasus logos. The pegasus should of course always be looking forward. Apparently the Pegasi are confused, or just so excited they don't know which way to go or don't care, they just want on that new Superbike! joker

I actually totally dig the dual tailpipes and the muffler. The one above at the Road America debut looks like a seriously flawed prototype. The one in the press release photos looks great, very nicely finished.

Blake...

It almost looks like they put the cover on the bike while it was still hot. Look at the blue spot on the header. I'd guess that's also what's on the exhaust.

I noticed the telltale melt mark too. Guess they need some hi-tech covers.

Bear in mind, ala the yellow 1996 S1 Lightning that was on the cover of Cycle World, that the bike that was shown is a couple months from being "done". Don't be surprised to see a few detail changes, perhaps based on initial comments.

The dual outlets were the first thing that caught my eye.

Oddly enough I never even noticed the pods until I read about them here.

The bike is much different, in my opinion, in the flesh.
