Not sure if this is on here already but if any of you are friends of erik buell racing's page on facebook, but during a thread on infineon they get into a discussion on running the 1190, Erik Buell Racing says something about AMA freezing them from running the bike then a few lines later say "one things for sure, there WILL be a street version of whatever we run"..............a glimmer of hope!!! wish i knew how to post a link to it. If you can go to the page and see the post about infineon just click "read all comments" its down there somewhere and Erik Buell Racing posted it so...............

ok, its not in the infineon post its in the post about the prices being set for Erik Buell Racing's bikes and it down there in the comments but: Erik Buell Racing
Matthew, we will be racing the 1125RR at the AMA races, and will have the 1190RR on display for the fun of it. Wish we could race the 1190, but the AMA froze us with the 1125. We understand and aren't complaining, but maybe one day we'll get something like it in. Most importantly that will mean we'll have a street version of whatever we race, and I... See More, know how many people would like to see that! Meanwhile I know Geoff and the team will do everything they can with the little 1125, and I know they will put on a great professional show. We are very grateful to be there at all.

Bring it on!! : ) The way I see it... Buell only needs to build 2 bikes:
- a sport bike for street and racing
- a sport adventure bike to support the racing program and us non-racing Buell enthusiests. This bike can also be used as the pace bike. Talk about dual purpose!! : )

Agreed.

- A fully faired 1125/1190 powered bike, blindingly fast, gobs of torque, all around awesome for street + track.
- I can see the value of something like the CR - a bit more upright, basically a streetfighter style bike - easily based on the race bike as the R/CR are similar now.
- A replacement for the Ulysses - a detuned 1125 would be plenty for this bike. Drop the redline, set up the cam timing/overlap so it runs smoothly below 3k RPM, and make a comfortable adventure touring bike.

I'm not sure they'd need anything else.

And then market/sell them PROPERLY - put them next to the CBRs, GSXR, Ninja, etc - with a "Made in Milwaukee" sign on them and then race the pants off them on a track.

They need a smaller displacement bike about 850cc to compete directly with Ducati 849 and indirectly with the 600's. At that displacement they won't have the controversy that they have now. Maybe I should rephrase that as "not as much controversy."

Buell aint building any stret bikes folks. Race only and damm few of those.

What Erik Buell might be doing next year... that's a different story but I bet in won't involve a 50 year old, air cooled, pushrod twin; ) Just a guess.

I'm hoping for a mini 1190 (800) that the wife can move up to from the Blast. She so desperately wants a proper sport bike riding position and power and thus the monster is drawing her attention.

Well, according to many sourcess Erik Buell will be able to compete against HD next year.
I would not be surprized if a company goes into a partnership with Erik allow him to design while they produce the street versions and Erik focus on Erik Buell Racing.

I would love to see a sport touring version of anything Buell like the Suzuki Bandit GT they came out with. Now that would be awesome!

I still want an American bike and for two years the Victory dealer has told me "next year we should have a sport bike just keep coming back maybe soon?......" Ah just a little day dream

Maybe they are waiting for Erik... Now that would be cool. Victory makes great V-Twin engines and motorcycles.

Go Victory !!

I rode 2 different Victory models a couple of yrs ago @ Arlen Ness' emporium -
they threw me the keys, just like it was an XR1200

much better performance & finish than H-Ds @ same price points

Go Victory +1!

I own 3 Buells but my cruiser is a Victory Kingpin Tour, and most reviews agree that it's the best handling and suspended cruiser; inverted cartridge forks, a proper rising rate linkage monoshock rear suspension, and a pretty rigid frame. Add to that a modern overhead cam 100/106 ci engine putting out at least 25 HP and 15 ft/lb more than a stock HD big twin. And custom bike styling.

The new Cross Country has even more comfort, luggage space and range. I started with the 1st gen V92 in 1998; while it was not as refined as today's Victorys, I still put 20K on it, did an Ironbutt coming back to FL from Sturgis, and had no problems at all. Think about that; Victory has only made bikes for 12 years, and look how far they have come. I think they embody some of Erik's passion for engineering excellence, just in the cruiser world.

I've been the pres of a local club, the Victory Riders of S FL, for a few years and the company treats customers well. I like to say that Victory's CEO (Mark Blackwell) was the 1971 500cc MX National Champion, on a Husky. Keith Wandell the golfer cannot even fathom what it takes to accomplish that!

I don't care for cruises since I am not old yet, but when I do I will look for a sport touring bike like a JFR or a BMW.
I just don't see myself as the beer belly type
I will support Victory just becuase HD killed Buell.

Buell2001: I'm 27, and the idea of a Cruiser isn't entirely unnappealing. Granted, I want more *versatility* than most Cruisers offer, but If I could have a third bike, I could totally see having a Victory (or a Triumph Speedmaster... Me Likey). I don't think age alone is the limitation, it's that a Cruiser isn't right for the KIND of riding that You want to do.

Same here. I'll support Victory any way that I can because of what HD did to Buell.

Then again, I get a sneaking suspicion that Buell venturing out on his own will turn out to be the best thing that's ever happened to him. He's proven what he and his team are capable of, and I have no doubt he's already talking with investors and will have Big News the Day After his non-compete clause expires.

Twintalon,I went to the local Triumph dealer's open house a few weeks ago,you could ride any of the models Triumph has,If I were going to get a cruiser I'd have to go with the new Thunderbird, excelent torque, handles very well for a cruiser, and you can bump the engine up to 1700cc's.I rode HDs for about 18 years and none of them were as nice as the Triumph.(no I'm not a Triumph salesman).

I'll ride anything with two wheels, I'm a bike slut, but my loves are Victorys and Buells!
