What size jets do you use if you have 190/50-17 Avon tires and you don't want your muffler strap to rub against the fork sliders? Keep in mind that I've got a high octain oil filter mounted where the Banke rear sets might have been if I had a different bike. Or does this belong in the KJV?

Now Ray you know that should go in the KV under High Octane Radial Muffler Jet Sliders.

Just a quick pop in to toot my own horn on how well the racing effort is going :)

Choptop and I both ran novice races in WSMC this weekend. Chop swung an 8th out of 13 bike in the lightweight field (quite a feet as he was down hp and up weight against the RS250's) and I pulled a 12th out of 37 after breaking my shifter on lap 4 of 6 and finished the race with only 5th gear. Talk about excitement!

If you've ever thougth about racing, drop everything and DO IT NOW!

weeeee!

When to my local Buell dealership today (which I like very much'o) to purchase a new clutch cable for my 98 S3T. Last week I bought the small o-ring thinking that's where the small leak was coming from. Anywho ... the didn't have the clutch cable in stock! Thought that was pretty weird but typical for Buell parts from my experience in my neck of the desert.

BTW, they had at least a dozen Buell race kits (1999 tube frame and newer, no XB or Firebloat) for sale at 40% to 50% off. A carbon fiber air cleaner (oval type) and 2 white S2 fairing brackets, primered gas tank and a pair of silver front leg fairings for the S3's.

I rode a Buell Firebolt Mon., test ride at local dealer, (got the Pucks) After a day to digest, GOOD JOB ERIK!!.
A very different stormer than my '01 M2L. Civilized, zippier. Not the raw, G-loading off idle of mine, yet despite running it mostly like a meek break in ride, solid pull from 2000rpm , up. (Fear a Nallinized 1200!) Handling is, well, better than the M2L, as I suspected, though to be honest the riding position was cramped for me. (Lightning pegs would fix that) Impressive.

Vik,
Darn good job considering your misfortune. Is GP shifting in your future? I love it. How did you navigate the slow turns in 5h gear? Abuse the clutch a little?

Chop did amazingly well. RS250's are darn fast.

Charlotte,
Knowledge vault, Engine-Intake (airbox/intake and filter)
The question is, what are you going to replace it with? Buell race ham can? Forcewinder? little round filter from American Sport Bike?
See also "Dyno Test Results Forcewinder & race kit filter"
I've gutted mine, (K&N, venturi ring) and so far like the way it keeps my right knee warm, and the questions! "whats THAT?" amuse me.

Char you probably get a good deal on Buell pro-series air cleaner from your dealer. And those directions will tell you how to install and remove your old breadbox to good luck.

Yep, but only one I'd go to for anything, that being Chosa's. I wouldn't even "drive by" the others, let along go in.

Blake:

I've had GP shift since day 1. I switched my street bike to GP after my first race because I was missing shifts <IMG SRC="> It was the rod that connects the rearset shifter to the ol' tranny that broke.

I handled the slower corners by going in faster! Seriously, I took wider lines and bogged it through soem of the corners. I got on the gas a whole lot earlier to try to get going again. The SV makes enough torque to keep the bike going (I even rode back to the pits in 5th...a lot of clutch there, though). If there had been a restart, I would have been in a lot of trouble, though.

The upside is I'm now signed off to race expert. The lap times I was running in middleweight novice in my last race would put me in 5th or 6th place in BOTT middleweight <IMG SRC="> The top three guys in middleweight novice were running 1:29's, all three of them on R6's. The fastest BOTT middleweight bike runs 1:31's.

Vik

Man, I wish you guys would quit talking Dave from Waterloo up. You're going to give him such a big head that he'll think that he can get some high-falootin job somewhere else. Then we'll have to train some new guy (oh that's right, he's already got a side kick in training pants).
Anyway, back off! We like Dave and want to keep him here.

Were any of you guys aware that the 1977 Yamaha TZ750 that Erik Buell raced was up in Canada. Do you think that Erik is aware this bike still exists? Just curious. "SUPERSHOW Racing's 1977 Yamaha TZ750D. Once raced by Eric Buell, various SUPERSHOW staff, as well as select guest riders now race this legendary bike." The link is at www.supershowevents.com

Any rumors about new Buells?
I read (on the internet) that some one said that he heard that some guy in Europe wrote in a Buell forum that he heard that a 1200XB was going to be released in Europe...
Is that rumor enough?

Alas, they missed the boat again. The Chevy powered Boss Hoss has been on the market for quite a while now. It's just a little unstable in the twisties. Bet Erik can improve on that, eh?

All,

Been riding the S1 to work lately. A fellow employee stood staring at it the other night. He looks at me and says "that thing can't be street legal?" "it is so small and there aint nothing there" "it's just engine and tires"

Thanks EB!
