Guys, in some parts of the country the laudromat is the best social venue in town. In some rural Wyoming towns, for example, it's the best place to meet the ranch gals!

Court: I thought the laudromat bit was funny! I recommend you dose the bowling ball with meat powder. It worked for Dr. Pavlov.

Yeah...I'm stuck on the "put your thumb here....." part. I'm loosing him right off the bat.

You are right on with regards to the laundromat. In most college towns there are "Suds and Duds" combination bars and laundromats.

Court,
If my dog had a thumb I'd have taught her to get me a beer a long time ago. OTOH my ex-wife never learned that trick either - old dog, etc. etc. :-)

Rent one of the "Air Bud" movies. Maybe he'll get the idea.

threow the ball into the water . . . . .my experience w/Labs (back in the dim time for me) is that they'll chase damn near anything into the water . . . . .. .

only problem with the bowling thing I can see is that the lab will likely want to chase the ball down the alley and bring it back without aid of AMF's equipment . . . . .

Philly,
I taught my sons to do that.

Oil filter question:
I was comparing the HD filter with several auto filters and wondered if there is a crossover list with this club? Seems to me that if the sealing ring is the same diameter and the thing screws on it should work.

Is this too simplistic?

Toastertan, ditto Bomber's comment. We did extensive/exhaustive analysis and discussion in that section. Some advocate the Ford filters (FL-1A and FL-300) and their crossover equivalents, while others question the need to buy anything other than an official H-D/Bar & Shield filter. It's all there. If you have any questions, ask them there and you'll probably get more help than you can stand!

Thanks folks. I did go to the KV Lubricants and was buried in the synth/dino/gear/primary/Amsoil/Mobil/weight/temp endless discussion. It was all very informative, but I was only able to glean one filter ~ Ford FL-1A. I hate paying $13 for a chrome HD filter. Rather screw on a Ford and then slide an empty can of Fosters over it for decoration....

Court,
Maybe you should start out with duck pins. No thumb required, although the "duck" part might be distracting for a Lab.

Greg;-)

That should have been candle pins. Then you won't have to worry about the duck part.

General Info: Depending on where you are and your instant situation, don't forget if you have unused winter coats, gloves and so forth around to check out where, locally, to get them into the hands of those who need them.

In this city at least, this can be a cold cruel time of the year and it can become easy to forget that I don't NEED all 24 of those jackets. I suck at this and tend to put it off....put it off....put it off.

Anyway....just a thought.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled moto-gramming......

Yeah. Ha ha ha. Really funny. Nothing like a little oversimplification and criticisim without offering any solutions...

The US has several suboptimal solutions it can pursue. If you don't like the ones currently in place, then join the club, even the people promoting them don't particularly like them.

Come up with a better suggestion, we are all ears. Not taking action, or just sitting around discussing it and hoping it goes away is *NOT* one of these better options. I could go on, but this is not the right place...

Reep . . .sorry you didn't like it . . . . I didn't take it as a shot, but more of a comment on how many of us (who've been in contact with our elected reps) feel . . . . .

it's a lot like travelling from Europe to the US . . . .you go from surly, attitude-laden customs inspectors who don't speak english very well (in, say, Germany) to surly, attitude-laden customs inspectors who don't speak english at all (in, say, Chicago) . . . .. ya gotta laugh at it, or it'll drive ya crazy

while the serious debate rages on, as it should, I, for one, think it's important to laugh a bit . . . . .

at the end of the day, the unfocused, first this way then that way approach we've taken IS a little embarressing . . . . to this patriot, anyways
