Snap out of it man......remember YOU are the grown up and I am the implulsive "shoot from the hipster". :)

****Roy Creel reports that the salt is excellent. Ken Walkey says that the course is the best he has ever seen it in his 54 years racing at Bonneville. The weather is great - cool in the mornings with the sun warming the day.***

You know every year, SCTA says something like this..."The salt is the best it's ever been" or something to that affect...then we went out their last Sept...& it was yucky Elmer's Paste that stuck to everything. I don't hold any water to what the Race organizations claim as the condition of the salt anymore. Hopefully, it's true for you guys attending though.

Loki, your insurance company is obligated to make you "whole." Things that add value to the bike are covered, extended warranty included. Also, to make you "whole", they are obligated to give you a fair amount for TT&L as well. It works this way in the sate of Texas, possibly in Michigan too. Most people aren't aware of this and the insurance company won't voluntarily admit to it. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Court, dave

Would you all quit maligning that magnificent farm animal, ie the pig. Pigs are exceptionl in their turning ability and acceleration. They do however lack top end speed. Handle like a cow would of course always be appropriate. Buells and pigs actually have a lot in common and I would recommend to this whole crowd to ride the various domesticated live stock before drawing comparisons.

Paul

There is a reason pigs were the animal chosed to torment lector with in "Hannibal".

The PCII modifies sensor data to the ECM, and the PCIII modifies ECM output to the injectors.

NOTE: The PCII for Buells is actually a PCIII. They didn't have PCIII labels made up yet when they shipped the first units.

X1Glider,
There's a certain nation-wide insurance company about to learn that very lesson. How it comes to pass is entirely up to them. It's already cost them indirectly more than it would have cost them initially if they'd only been fair and up front with their stated "corporate integrity" as their banner. Good hands sometimes have warts.

Posted anon since the matter is still active, hope that's okay since I'm not flaming any specific individual nor have I named the offensive company in question.

On the side of extended service(warranty) plans.

The plan I was sold was NOT between me and HD/Buell service center. It was/is between me and the dealer from whom it was purchased. In other words a deal that HD/Buell has absolutely no knowledge of.

(Been making some phone calls and got the fine tooth comb out now.)

I have never attempted to use said policy since its inception at purchase. The dealership says it is transferable but not cancelable. I was led to believe that this was in fact an extended warranty through HD/Buell. Not just the dealership. This just gnaws at me now.

Mother Co./Buell expect a letter from me. In fact I am planning on you as the next phone call. Depending on what the dealership is going to say.

btw: should I ask them to transfer the policy to my recently purchased 97 S1? Ought to go over like a lead balloon......

I raise pigs, for slaughter. They're pretty neat animals, and they make the perfect edible pet.

Most pets cause their owners anxiety when they die, and all you are left with is grief and vet bills. When you slaughter your edible pet you get bacon and pork chops.

We live in the age of consumerism, and the edible pet's time has come.

Suggestion to the BadWeb, Knowledge vault...Once you have a tried and true remedy, why don't you get rid of all the extraneous material so us FNG's can sort through it easier.

That's a great idea Bob, but the problem is, we all tend to wander off topic most times, and a lot of that 'wondering' is post worth keeping. This is especially true if someone, say for example, starts a discussion about a Race Kit muffler vs a Supertrapp muffler, then someone steps in the conversation and 'links' the performance benefits of the Race Kit filter too. What then if another person were to state the additional benefits of running a HSR 42 with these components ? Maybe someone else 'll come back with a different carb suggestion too. Well what happens is, we end up with a very informative (possibly) topic about Race Kit mufflers, Air Filters and carb's etc, and that's a lot more information than we set out to gain, and on much more than the topic header would suggest.

As we all realise, because the subject matter is so interlinked, it becomes increasingly difficult to do what you suggest. And yes, I agree, there can be a lot of extraneous stuff in any of the topics, just not easy to edit some of it out. There's another thing to consider in this little conundrum. Amongst many of the topics, and often within a singular post, the authors may have wondered off topic and written something humorous amongst the stuff of importance, and that in itself is also worthy of archiving because it portrays the soul of the Badweb, which is FUN as well as function.

Thanks, Rocket

Regarding warranty: The extended warranty is not dealer specific. I purchesed my 01 in SoCal and had two claims on warranty serviced in NoCal. One was a speedo sensor, the other a cam position sensor. For the latter, the mechanic spent hours (including riding bike home in hopes to break down) in order to diagnose the problem. All I had to do was make a $50 copay each time.

BTW - M2, 2001, purchased with a 7 year extended warranty AND Buell Race Kit (dealer installed) at the same time. I had a 42mm Flatside installed BEFORE warranty claims. (Although, since then, in an effort not to beg the Gods, I've removed the Race Ignition Module and put the stock one back on).

The word I've been given by service managers: "As long as it's not abused we'll cover warranty issues." I have to admit, I don't worry about it breaking 'cause if it does I figure it's covered.

Well put Rocket.

Snail,
I have a farmer neighbor who had a favorite pig. Went to visit him last fall, saw the pig was missing a leg. When I asked the farmer what happened, he said "I got caught in a gopher hole with the combines bearing down on me and that pig routed my stuck foot out of the dang hole, saved my life, that pig did, just as the combine was coming past!" He then hung his head and looked awfully upset about the ordeal and the pig's obviously valiant sacrifice. I could tell he really had strong feelings for that pig.

Next time I happened by the farm, I noticed the pig was missing the other hind leg; the farmer had rigged up a little two wheeled cart and strapped it to the pig to he could pull himself around with just his front legs. Of course I had to ask what had happened... the farmer replied "I was out disking the back forty when the tractor hit a damn giant ant hill and threw me off. I would'a been killed for sure if that pig hadn't grabbed my pants leg and pulled me out of harm's way." Again, I could see the pig's heroism and sacrifice had greatly touched him.

I'll be damned if in the Spring when I stopped by that pig was limping along with no rear legs, still with the cart strapped on, but now with a peg for a left front leg. The poor creature had only one leg left out of four!

I hesitated, but just had to ask the farmer what happened. He replied, "I thought I told you, that pig saved my life! I just can't bring myself to eat him all at once?!" :joker:

Capt. Pete, I hauled my boat and took a pic of the old bucket, but I can't remember how to post pics.

Installed a new Furuno lcd sounder, split 50/200 mghz, good to 4K ft. Replaced an old Furuno paper recorder, funny, young man saw the old machine on the deck and asked, "whats THAT?"

Remind me how to post a pic and I'll post one I took today just before splashing the old bucket back in the water.

Paul,

Man, you want to hear some serious flaming, point me to a Furuno BBS. Not really; most of their stuff is great. I just had a bad experience w/ a 50kz/2kw machine that could hardly see the bottom @ 250 fathoms. Maybe trying to punch through the Gulf Stream had something to do w/ it. Hopefully your experience will be better.

And yeah, technology has made great strides in the fishing industry in a short period of time. At one time I had saved enough recorder paper (four passes each) to paper a whole room, but finally decided I'd looked at that stuff enough and threw it out.

The trick for posting images here is to get the things under 50k, and at the same time keep the image desplay size small enough so that you don't screw up the text for everyone on the page. The free compression software that Blake suggests, xat.com, works great. There is a link to their site at the begining of the "Cool Buell Pics" topic. If you have any difficulties, ping me off the board & I'll try to help.

I can't remember who asked about the cannon in the back of my old fish truck, but here's the finished product - as an example. (This image started out as 807kb, and as seen: 40kb)

(Hope I don't screw this up.)

Paul,

A moderator that can't post a pic?

To post a pic, you have two options.

1. If the pic is already resident elsewhere on the web, do a \imagelink{URL of pic file here}

2. If the pic is only on your PC, whittle it down to under 50KB and do a \image{text title here} then post and you will be asked to upload the pic file. The text title here can be any text you wish and will appear on-screen upon a mouseover.

Enjoy! :)

I'm thinking the farmer will start off with some ribs before going for the tenderloin.

Interesting disclosures from Colin Edwards on his personal message board...

M1 is Dead...

Racefans,

Got the call this afternoon and it was "sorry we have nothing."

I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Rainey last night talking about this Yamaha option. As Wayne himself said "My opinion is totally Yamaha biased". It was good to chat since we haven't for over a year but I thought some wheels were turning. They were turning but upper management made the decision and I was not part of the equation.

So there you have it, M1 is dead.

Back to the Honda situation. You guys only know half the story, well 3/4 of it anyway. This is what really left a bad taste in my mouth. Monday after Imola the same guy that told me I didn't have a job at Suzuka, now informs me we have a place for you. "Honda V5, Bridgestones, and some of your team. And if there is any trouble breaking the Ducati letter of intent Honda are willing to compensate them." I thought great sounds like a winner. So the next day Ducati inform me of what it would take for Honda to have me back. "I only remember waking up in the emergency room connected to a respirator." So I informed Honda what it would take. They negotiated for a day then Honda called me and said "Sorry Honda cannot do anything, this is between you and Ducati" CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!! I was totally shitting my pants for a couple days stressing out. I'm not allowed to give you guys any details and maybe I've gone to far already, but that was the straw that broke my back.

As it turns out Ducati understand that I have nothing left to prove in SBK. We worked it to were there was no loser and everyone left halfway content. I have great respect for the Ducati folks and we parted peacefully to where we could still work together in the future. In english terms no bridges were burned.

So does that make the Aprilia look that much better to those of you who want me to stay on Honda? All I'm waiting for is a phone call from Michelin to guarantee me the best stuff for next year. When I get that call, which could be in about 9 hours, you guys will be the first to know.

NOW IT'S GETTING EXCITING!!!!!!!

Colin

Racefans,

I've been on the phone all morning talking to everyone you can imagine. Everyone who has ties to Honda want me to stay and the rest want to see me at Aprilia. In the end I had to make my own decision. It was very difficult to call my team and say it's not going to happen. All of the things I have posted about Honda"s actions have not been Honda bashing. I've simply stated the facts and events that transpired and let you make your own judgement. I have nothing against my team at Castrol. These are the hardest and best working group of folks I've had the pleasure to be around and I'm going to miss them.

Now a new chapter has begun and I am excited to bring my knowledge, work skills, and Michelin to Aprilia. There you have it in a nut shell. Finally it's over and we can get some sleep.

Colin

Fog,

I do not disagree with you. There are different versions of the extended service/warranty purchased.

"This contract is not an insurance policy. The contract is between US(HD/Buell dealer) and YOU(as in me). It provides coverage to only YOU for the MOTORCYCLE and the term selected as indicated on the PROOF OF REGISTRATION of this contract."

This above is the very first paragraph of mine. Then it goes into the basics of who, what(what not), when(when not), how, etc. Then section 10 item 1 says "There Is No Cancel Option With This Contract.".

I have already talked to the HD Service Center, they have no record of this contract in the system. The party handling my insurance claim has been a great source of info. Said party used to work in a dealership and handled the extended warranty claims for them.

Yes I bought an extended warranty. Looking at my purchase contract, now. I can see the real deal. The insurance company listed is the dealership. That is why no one at HD/Buell has a record of this contract. It was a fee paid solely to the dealership. Another way to hide mark-up during the great rebate season.
