I'm thinking about getting a blast for my wife. She currently has a 89 shadow 600 and I believe they are about the same height (seat). Does anyone have any advice? She has short legs only 5'4" and my XB is to tall for her. Thanks Steve | ||

I am looking for tires for my Buell Blast. I would love to find some sport, or sport/touring tires. Any suggestions on size, style, or where I can find some would be great. I appreciate any help you can give me. | ||

Check around, however, I'm sure someone knows one - I just go to SF's local tire shop - KC Engineering and they hook me up at half the price it would be at the dealership - they are the serious tire for the Ninja 250 as well - lol - so most motorcycle stores have a set or two in stock or can overnite order them at no charge or a minimal fee. Chaparral, Dennis Kirk, Motorcyclestore.com, etc. - all sell them - links can be found in the Thumper K.V. in the Links to Stuff you Can't find here section. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

I painted the frame today, mostly the visible part under the seat and the footpeg assembly, with the buell titanium paint....that paint is awesome! It looks sweet, all sparkly. I actually got some overspray on my primary cover...and it really looks cool, just little silver specks on the black primary...anyway, one side came out smooth as glass, the other side is kind of rough, can't figure out why, but oh well. It definitely looks better in those spots where boots had rubbed it black and such | ||

Hey VJ - you do a lot of commuting? - the Kenda is great for that, however, if your doing a lot of carving the back tire will slide - the Pirelli or the Chen Shin - Ralphs' recommendation - are still the best choices for safely making short work of the corners. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Ran the Blast without the can on my Kerker exhaust tonight. Needless to say my already cool sounding bike turned into a complete monster. Man it was loud, very race sounding too  . So do i need to make any special considerations if i plan on riding without the can on? I am not talking about all the time, just every once in a while for fun. My thinking is, the reverb pipe is going to keep some back pressure in the pipe, so every once in a while wont be a problem. | ||

Well then that should be the perfect tire combo - though the front will wan't to turn in even quicker, so carefull there as well - most who run the Kenda use the 100/90-16 front - actually slows turn in just a bit as well - lol - don't try going to the edges on the Kenda - ain't going to happen, but longevity is the Kenda's long suit and many are happy with it as a general purpose tire that is inexpensive as well. I know only a few people who have tried the Chen Shin but all commented that it reminded them of an ugly looking Pirelli in both handling and life span though the CS back tire is one size larger at 130/90-16 - all other brands this size will not fit so don't bother - lol - Got Thump?! Okay guys, do I really need to change the rear sprocket? I'm putting on a new belt, 7,500 miles, old belt was destroyed by...*ahemwheeliescough* so I think the sprocket would only need to be changed if it's damaged...yes? | ||

You are correct - new sprocket every 15,000 is the recommended and if the belt makes it that long, then one would change it as well - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Don't worrk about the rear sprocket until you have a few more miles on it. I went 25,000 on the rear sprocket and belt before I changed mine. When you do change the rear sprocket, change the sprocket cover too. It tends to wear. James | ||

Well - I just won the tranny lotto - lol - seems with only commuting mialage by me, but who knows what by the previous owners - the red bike is getting a new tranny for the pautry price of 50 bucks! - lol - the warrentee fee - they asked if I had put any aftermarket stuff in the tranny - I joyously replied no! So with the extended warrentee still in effect, and a tear down to prove I wasn't fibbing - still looking at 3 weeks without the red, but when I do get her back, I'll have 'new' cams to install - lol - funny how stuff works out! I finally found my limit. Last Tuesday, I rode to college (45 minutes) when it was about 15 degrees. I got a mild case of frostbite on my knuckles. Yesterday morning, I tried to ride to work. My front tire got stuck in a rut in the ice and snow in front of my house. I only had to go about a block to get onto dry pavement. I fell, hurt my pride, and the front brake locked. It seems to do that when the temperature is below 30 or so. I pushed it 30 feet to my driveway. That was tough! Front tire was sliding instead of turning! It kept wanting to go to low spots, which ultimately meant dry pavement. I decided I better keep 4 wheels on the ground until the ice and snow melts, at least. I'm going through withdrawal ... | ||

I think someone •••••• cut my clutch cable, I walk into work, park my bike in Neutral and I came out and my clutch handle is dangling and the thing is in gear. does anyone know if cables magically break while their in a parking lot ? or do cables get real brittle after like 5K miles ? its not like the clutch cable goes under a lot of stress. I swear ill strangle who ever did it with the broken cable itself !..... karma =) | ||

Ninjabob - My cable did magically break one day to. I could have sworn all was fine when I pulled into the parking lot. Come out for lunch to take my stress reliever ride and the cable was broke. This happened to me at 4800 miles. Mine broke up by the clutch lever. Have a better day | ||

Hey all! I'm new to this forum, but I am a long time Buell fan. I'm hoping someone can help me out with a Buell Blast question. I bought a Buell Blast Recall Kit 94019Y, recall 0822 Sprocket. This kit is for pre-2001 Blast. It has a 2001 sprocket, belt, cover, hardware, AND some kind of electronic unit Y0018T. The new sprocket is different in size, so the bike is supposed to get a speedo recalibration after that. I'm wondering if that is what that electronic unit is for. This is not covered in any Blast manual. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it |
