No - the tuber ignition key worked on that lock generically - so anyone else with a tuber key can open the others tank - not that we are worried about other Buellers - one of those circular door alarm keys would probably work as well - lol - it just prevents idle hands from putting stuff in your tank - stealing gas is just a matter of disconnecting at the tank with a screwdriver or dime, apply sm funnel and catch jug, and they are home free - lol GT - JBOTDS! Gearheader, I'll have to see what my schedule looks like for April. Right now things are changing so fast for this little airline I work for I have no idea what my schedule might be. I'd like to ride back to Denver sometime to show friends and family the bike but that might have to wait until next August. | ||

Hello all - I posted here over a month ago about getting a 2003 Blast for $2000. I had to wait two weeks for a title ( he still owed Harley a payment ) but I did get it! My PC went down and I've been having so much fun riding that I'm just getting around to posting. A few people emailed me and I never got back to them, one even offered to trade me body panels if I ended up with the 2002 Purple bike. Anyway, from my first ride I absolutely fell in love with this bike - hopefully in a week or so she'll be getting the Amsoil Synthetic treatment. At 2,800 miles, it's never too late to switch! Anyway, if anyone around here in Connecticut wants ride - give me a shout. That reminds me, I actually saw someone in highway traffic on a black Blast while on my way to the "Big Eastern States Exposition" in Mass. last Saturday. Literally only the third or fourth Buell I've actually seen on the roads around here. | ||

okay, i am back and much happier now. i posted a few weeks ago about a nasty little problem with my beloved buellette. she went to a harley shop 75miles away for an attitude adjustment. the problem involved a faulty ignition module. so $206 later for the part and labor and i am back on the road. i do not care for brunswick, ga a whole lot, however now that i can blast around the back country roads i am beginning to see a new side to things!! well i wanted tell anyone else who would listen that life is good again and i am enjoying blasting!!  | ||

Naughtynurse, You can find those Rizoma 998 mirrors of mine @ motostrano.com but beware of the sticker shock...I spent $200 for them. They are frickin' sweet though, they make the bike look super cool! I think I'm gonna try that dual headlight set up as well.  | ||

Vinnie Those mirrors I bought from you look sharp also. Much better than the stock. They dont look out of place. If I get a chance I will post picts. If you go with the twin head lights will you go back to the fly screen or run naked like now? Sandy | ||

Sandy, Those mirrors you now have are infinitely cooler than stock...and much more reasonable. I'm glad you dig 'em. I believe I prefer in the buff from now on, whatever lights I end up with. Vinnie P.S. Naughty, look in the Rizoma section a page or two in... | ||

Anyone here using an XB head on there Blast? I finally got my Blast through the CHP salvage inspection and all the DMV $ & paperwork that goes with it. Time to take the stock parts back off and modify. I'm going stage 3 but would like to use the XB head if I's not to much trouble to find/make a new engine mount. I have a call in to Justin at NRHS but I'm obsessed.Anybody got a mount? I also figure I'd keep you guys tuned in to the progress and perhaps get any insight from anybody whose already done these or other similar mods.Maybe if you'd run into a problem, or found out there was another mod you should have done at the same time, but didnt realize it until you were done. (I did search old posts, and remember this topic, but I dont remember, or find, that anybody makes a mount) | ||

Erik, Yes!!!, I,m running an XB head in fact had it on during the Bonneville runs. Worked great. The front mount is no problem, elongate one bolt hole a bit is all that is needed. No problems with breakage. The problem lies in the isolator that is mounted on the back of the blast head. I relocated mine to the front with good results. You should be quite happy with NRHS work. What sort of wheel options are available for the Blast? I'm wanting to put black powder coated ones on. Do I have to find a shop that would be willing to powder coat the stock ones? | ||

The wheels are Alum. - I don't think you can powder coat them - paint - yes and wheel paint is made. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

EZ dont know about that but Meridith HD had some XB wheels done in yellow to match body work and they came out ok as far as I know. Look sharp to. Sandy | ||

There are different proceedures for Powder Coating Aluminum. Lower Temp - etc. Can definatly be done, but make sure the place you take the wheels isn't just some industrial Powder Coating Factory that throws them in the chamber with a bunch of other steel stuff and melts them! That has been known to happen once in awhile. IF you get them too hot - they actually don't melt, but they do become brittle. So when you hit a pot hole at 70mph, you'll find out real fast the Powder Coater didn't know Jack, and didn't bother to call him either. | ||

Thanks Nick - I wondered about that - I kept reading conflicting things. From my machinest experiences - I know Alum has a low critical temp, so when I read how high the temps reach for powder coating I wondered. I used to work in plating as well, but no powder coating experience - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Just a side note on powder coating. To get the powder to flow (melt) you have to get the powder to around 375 degrees. Once it flows the part comes out of the oven. So the actual part doesn't get nearly as hot as 375. Our wheels can take the heat, just make sure that the person has experience, and is aware the wheels are aluminium. | ||

375 should be fine for aluminum, right? Or are my baking sheets brittle and unsafe now?? Help me out, I'm getting nervous here... lol...
