Here I am again posting about another issue that I am having with my 2009 Blast...this time having problems with the battery. A few weeks ago I had an old battery that died on me. Would not put enough amps out to start the bike. Push start wouldn't work so I ended up having to jump it was a car that WAS NOT TURNED ON. Driving home I lost all electronics-turn signals, brake light, headlight, you name it-functioning. However, the electronics did come back on about 5 to 10 miles later. Put the battery on a tinder and started right up for the next 10 or so starts. However, the battery again died so I went and bought a new battery at an auto-part store. This battery was purchased on Saturday and Sunday night the battery was once again dead...got a friend with a truck to take me home and put the battery on a tinder and the tinder told me there was no Voltage. Read other threads about charging to 50% and trying to start the bike so I did that and she fired right up. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I don't think its the battery but something with the charging or wiring situation??? Any help would be awesome thanks. | ||

Use a volt meter to test voltage. Depending on the "battery tender", it may or may not charge a dead battery. Some models will, others need a minimum voltage to work. But you can't rely on a battery charger to tell you voltage. Because of that your problem will be hard to diagnose. Is the battery you bought the type that can be used laying on its side? New batteries can be bad. Check the battery and ground connections. A loose connection can create havoc. Is the blast stock? No modifications? Ever been apart? Have you done anything else to it? | ||

It can be laid down on its side. I was having a hard time mounting the terminals on it but will probably be bringing it back to Advance Autoparts. Will look at the connections later this week as I got a good old genetics test to prep for. The modifications that are pertaining the electrical system is I installed LED lights and flasher relay with resistors as well. The other MOD is a K&N air filter. Other than that the blast is stock. It does live outside in a carport in KS so maybe the elements are getting to it?? |
