Ok, just won (and paid for) the pro-series cams on eBay. Anyone put these in themselves? Just looking for "heads up" info before i dig into this. I have the service manual, tools, and more than one brain cell. I just need to order the gasket kits before I yell "BONZAI" and "HAVE AT THEE YE SCURVY DOG!"

any tips, tricks, and "golly, that would have been nice to know" will be appreciated!

Only one thing you might consider is swapping over to Sportster style pushrod covers and adjustable pushrods. It will save you from pulling any part of the head apart for the cam change. You will also have to cut the stock ones off (or pull the head, which would negate having purchased the new covers and rods). The kit is available from NRHS, but its going to be over $100 bucks for it (I think).

I'm thinking about buying the Performance cams. Anybody know how much more HP and torque is gained in mid-range?

Just a couple hp - honestly, however, your torque number should rise to equal your HP and it all happens very low in the power band peaking past your stock limiter and springs, guides and seals - yet that garrentees a nice delivery of the added power it does give, and really helps the engine breath and function much more efficiently - definately a nice bonus for a stock Blast motor!

Once i get my bike back on the road, i'll get it dyno'd, i wantto see what it will do : ) Unfortunately, i couldn't get the SE ignitin module for the blast that was on eBay this week, the bidding just went way too high for me : ( With stock ignition, i think my blast will be kinda inhibited...we'll see...

You know if you go over 6800 rpm- which is the edge for stock springs, guides, and seals bad things will happen, therefore, I gather you are looking forward to some head upgrades as well?

Thanks EZ
I went ahead and ordered the new Screamin Eagle XL '04 cams (XB grind).
I kept the stock cylinder and overbored it .015 and used a matching XB piston to go with the XB head.
I wont even think about changing carbs unless I get convinced that it will make a huge difference (more worth than it is trouble). However, mating it to an accelerator pump, if possible, might happen.
If I'd realized I'd be using an XB grind, I probably would have left the XB head stock!

Naw - with the upgrades the head will be more durable and you'll get more power out of it than the stock XB head - just more to enjoy - besides then you'll hear the headwork from the heavy duty springs, etc. - its a really cool sound and counters the motors' Baratone nicely.
