Did lots and lots of reading on both Buell forums in preparation of changing the exhaust, dropping in a K&N filter, and tweeking the carb. Here's my take on what I believe is the path to get me there. I am looking for guidance & a little advice (apologies in advance for any dead horse beating). All feedback greatly appreciated!

V&H Exhaust, K&N drop in air filter, carb tweeks as I understand:

Change jets to 48/175 (or 180?)

reset Idle Mixture Screw to 2.5 turns

Is it true that "If you replace the stock needle with this sportster needle ( PN 27094-88) there is no need to shim"?

Iridium Plug

So, where do I get the correct jets?

Thanks again for this forum and all of the great information it has. I have been inspired!

48/175 should be perfect as long as you open the exhaust and the intake. If you are going to run the stock intake, I'd use a 45/175, or even 45/170. 180 is probably going to be WAY too rich on the fast jet side.

You can get jets at your HD dealer. They are super cheap. As far as the needle, shimming is super easy.

Concur! Concur!
Jets are common Harley jets, about $6-$10 each. Can also be found at Bike Bandit and Dennis Kirk. Whatever you do, DONT tell Harley its for a Blast. Although recent experience might have proved this wrong, past experience has shown that the mere mention of the Blast causes the salespersons eyes to roll back into his head, he then falls into a zombie like state repeatedly muttering the phrase "we dont have Blast parts".
