Magster-What type of bike to bike communicators do you use. We've tried a few and they just didn't seem to work too well.

Erin - they are Interphone Blue Tooth by BlueAnt for motorcycles.

http://www.myblueant.com/interphone_helmet_kit.htm

We love them. The site says 5 hours talk time using intercom but we have found that they only last about 4 hours. Because we are usually on the road for 8-10 hours a day, we just purchased four units. Not cheap but we couldn't live without them now. One time set up of pairing two together, marked of course so I know which two go together, then when one set dies, we just switch out to next set. Every time we get home (or to hotel) that is my first duty - plug them in!

I have a friend who just got the Scala Rider, but I can't give a first hand report on them since I haven't used them. I hear they are great. May end up being replacements when the InterPhones die.

We have used the them for 3 years and it has become an invaluable part of our daily riding and we wouldn't do our touring without them. Being able to communicate with each other has become an integral part of our riding. If we are riding and the battery goes dead I find myself still talking to him! For his sake, he can always shut me off but so far has yet to do it

I’d be interested in knowing what type you tried but did not like.

TGIF – have a great weekend & as always “Happy Trails”

Mags

I think there is a Buell event called that, not sure though, but it sounds familiar.

Magster- the intercoms we used were called Fire Fox or something like that.

Well I passed my MSF class and the DMV written exam, so I'm now legal to ride! Carlos and I have been out twice this week. We're staying on backroads and close to home. So far I'm having at Blast! (total pun intended!!)

Can't believe it took me this long to try riding on my own. Maybe I was just too afraid that I'd like it and not have a chance to ride with having 3 children at home.

Heading out of town for a week. Looking forward to riding when I return.

Blast on!

hey gals,

here is an AWESOME deal on eBay, :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CORTECH-LRX-LADIES- SPORT-JACKET-PINK-LADIES-SIZE-16_W0QQcmdZViewItemQ Q_trkparmsZQ7c293Q3a2Q7c294Q3a30QQ_trksidZp4634Q2e c0Q2em14Q2el1262QQhashZitem4398e3d16aQQitemZ290327 875946QQptZApparelQ5fMerchandise

last time I looked they had quite a few sizes left too.

I personally have the very same jacket, same color and wow is all I can say!
where else can you get a brand new MC jacket for $45 shipping included?
the pink color is really nice BTW, not pepto bismol, more like a nice soft salmon/pink, I LOVE it!
Cortech is made by Tour Master, (its their sport line) so its high quality.

here is another one, Power Trip vintage leather, I have this one in white and in brown : )
$24.99 for a new MC leather jacket, again, you cant go wrong IMO.
(it retails for $300 BTW)
the armor doesn't come with this one but the pockets are there for all of it so I just switch my armor from another jacket in this one.

they have all sizes, I just posted for the XL

Hi My name is Danielle
I just started riding. I haven't been out on the road yet, little scared for that. I don't have a bike yet but I am looking into maybe getting a blast. I road a ninja 250 that was my friends. I really like that but I have always been a big Buell fan. When my husband was looking to get a bike I was the one who talked him into getting a Buell, now he is on this 3rd & he loves them. So I don't really know much about riding, so can anyone give me some adv. on the blast & if it is a good bike to start on?
Thanks Danielle
Oh, I love there is a all girl sit ; )

welcome!!!

I dont think you can go wrong with the Blast : )
I started on a Ninja 250 and sold it to get the Blast : )
the Blast is probably one of the less intimidating bike to start on, the upright position is a big plus as well as the low seat height.

this is a great site to get all the information you need about all Buell bikes.

Welcome , Advice...just relax and take your time, do it for you and no one else, did you take a motorcycle class? if not please do it helps. Who is your other half, does he lurk here, mine is Nevrenuf. The Blast is a great bike to be on whether you look at it as a starter bike or hope to have it grow up one day. I'm at the in between on that subject, love riding it and am comfortable but would like to be able to ride the SCG.

I am seriously thinking about getting a XB9 cityX in a few months : ) or even an scg for the right price. I called my insurances and they both quoted the same so it will depend what is available when I am ready to buy I guess.

I love my little blast but I am discovering a little inner speed demon inside me lately....LOL
I dont need anything bigger, but I've been drooling over the bigger Buells for a couple of years now and the idea of riding them doesn't scare the living day light outta me like it used to : )

dani, dont let the fact that there might not be a 2010 Blast stop you from getting one.
Used Blast can be purchased usually for around 3k, most have pretty low mileage too and are awesome 1st (or not) bike : )

I love my little Blast! In fact, I finally got to ride again this week. I wasn't sure what I'd be up to since I hadn't ridden in three weeks, but hubby and I had a great ride. I moved up from the total back roads to the more traveled back roads! We rode for about 2 hours and put 80 miles on the Blast. When we stopped for gas, Carlos figured that I had gotten 75 mpg! Sure beats the 15 or so from my Suburban!

Can't wait to ride again.

Ulywife glad to see you have been out and about, we haven't been riding much. Neil takes one to work, but it's been way to flippin hot to ride can't wait till it starts to cool down. We have a new blaster in the neighborhood, friends of ours just bought an 01, color red. It's going to be for his wife to ride, she's frightened as heck, didn't have great experiences trying to ride before, but then she never took a class.

Blasteey - I'm having so much fun. There are times I know I'd rather ride with Carlos than on my own. Best of both worlds from where I see it!

We've not been able to ride alot lately with school starting, his work schedule and the sun setting earlier each day.

Encourage your neighbor to take the MSF class. It's the best thing I did. Carlos did a great job showing me many of the things we'd do in class, but it's nice having others to learn with.

Hope you and Neil are doing well. Will we see you in Suches in October?

Yep, the best of both worlds, sometimes when I'm tired and don't feel like riding I can hop on the back. It does depend a lot of where we are going and with whom as to which bike we are taking. She e-mailed me and she is scheduled for the class the weekend of Sept 29th. She's had quite a few mishaps trying to ride before but I let her in on Neil's and my mishaps, she laughed and felt better about the ones she had.

Poor guy got razzed lots after his last mishap in Suches on your bike. I felt really bad for him. But hey, bikes can be fixed...just ask Carlos!

Well I had a lot of first this weekend. M2nc, Webe and I loaded the trailer and headed to Buelltoberfest in Suches GA. The weather was perfect on Saturday. Anna and I were the new riders in the group. The four guys did a great job of leading and sweeping making sure we rode at a nice pace and didn't get in over our heads.

Riding the mountain roads is very different than any riding I've done around home. The turns were very tight sometimes and then you had elevation changes. The hardest thing for me was the shade to sun spots on the road. Very hard to know where the road is when the sun shines through and blinds you.

Later in the day when I was the only new rider, we picked up the pace a bit. I had a few pucker moments, but all in all, it was a great weekend. I even drug my left peg! OK, it was by total accident, but I did it and didn't freak completely out!

Hello Ladies,

I just joined this forum and am still having a look around. There is so much to read. I have a 2003 Blast that I bought in 2004. It is yellow and I haven't done any mods to it. I did take off the decal because I didn't like how big it was. I recently replaced the front tire because my original one cracked somehow.

I don't seem to fit into any popular motorcycle group. I'm not a biker chick, nor a mechanic, nor am I that interested in modifications or going for long rides. I just like to zip around town on my Blast and go for short rides.

I have had one wreck on the Blast when an oncoming SUV made a left turn in front of me. I wasn't severely injured, thank goodness, but hitting the pavement certainly did not feel good at all. The only other mishap for me was when I hit a wasp and it stung my shoulder, and I had to just act like nothing happened.

My Blast has sat under my carport for nearly a year, waiting for me to get the tire for it. It started right up after several tries, and that impressed me. I know people say it is a beginner motorcycle, but I think I'll keep it.

Hey Tpop. Welcome!
This site is a great source of knowledge. Even if you don't want to mod your Blast, you can read up about potential problems.
I didn't think I wanted to do any mods either, but I just changed my slow jet from the factory 42 to a 45. I'm going out for a ride right now.
I generally use my bike to get to school - about 10 miles each way - but I like riding it so much I often take it out just for fun on weekends.

Thanks Robin... Since I have had my Blast almost 7 years, sometimes I feel like changing it up a bit. I saw some pictures oh here of a black one (not a shiny black) with a brown seat. It looked very mean and I liked it a lot.

When I ride, it is usually to and from work (8 miles) and like you, an occasional weekend ride. Sometimes I just ride around the neighborhood.

What is a slow jet? I don't know anything about engines but would like to, a little bit at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. It's not something I pick up easily.

Tpop - there are 2 jets in your carb. The main (170 in my bike) jet is for higher RPM and the pilot (aka slow) jet is for low RPM / idle. They're what suck the gas from the float bowl for mixing w/ the air (purpose of a carb in the 1st place) to feed the engine.

I don't know tons, but am trying to learn. My nearest Buell dealer is 40 miles away. If I can do stuff myself, me and my bike are both better off. I'm going for a bike that is fun, runs well and lasts a long time.

Thanks Roblast... I want to learn too, but I just don't find it that interesting or easy to understand. I'm more interested if something is shown to me though.

I went for a ride around the neighborhood today because there was a storm on the way.
