BTW-getting the Blast towed down to the dealer next week for the insurance estimate.Hopefully they will add in the extra cost of seat, mirrors & handlebars that cost 3 times as much as the stock parts!

Just got my blast back from the stealership tonight. Besides not having recieved one of the foot pegs (still on order), not putting one of the bar end plugs back in (don't care, I installed some carbon-look bar ends when I got home) , and not propperly mounting the new bars (right block is visibly canted) , everything is perfect. Bright, shiny new grape plastic, dark black Pro Series pipe and intake, and a cush new-version seat. I still have to adjust everything to my spec, so I havn't ridden it yet, but I am VERY happy its home : )

Gear Report:
I'll preface this by saying I have no connection at all with ShockTek, aside from being a repeat customer. That said, I purchased a pair of motorcycle gloves from them, after falling in love with their bicycle gloves.
I tend to ride Baby for long distances, and got tired of the hands going numb from vibrations after a couple hours. I purchased a pair of their gauntlet style gloves, and have just gotten back in from my first 300 mile ride with them. All I can say is WOW! The gloves kept my hands in great shape the whole time. I am absolutely satisfied with them, and recommend anyone interested to check them out at: http://www.shocktek.com/index2.html
The company makes a variety of gloves, the concept being helping avoid carpal tunnel. I have no idea if they do or not, but I have 2 pairs of gloves now, and foresee getting some other models in the future.

Ok, had a chance to ride for a couple hours this weekend. The new Pro Series pipe and intake i just had put on seem to perform well enough. I lost alot of the low end torque i had with the V&H/torque cone set up i had, but this looks so much better. Can't really tell if there is much actual perforace increase, but since the guy who hit me paid for it, i think i'll keep the pro series stuff for a while :P

Just good to know your riding! - So the torque cone gives the V&H some bottom end - eh? Interesting, probably give Caveman/Sean mine from the WB and see what he says - in that range of header it could deliver - hmm - so do you think that the XR100 mech.s/performance mods apply 2 the Blast motor- HD racing seems to think so, but I have serious doubts about the validity of that theory working, my thoughts about a 70hp motor with only 37 ftlbs of torque really bothers me - though it works for them - somewhat - lol
Anyway - good to hear your on the road again!

Maybe the 37lbs of torque is due to 'flywheel' lightening?

Does anybody know the retail price or part # of the XB lightning handlebars?

So, whaddya think? My 44 Magnum Blast, the Best Blast Ever Built, didn't meet my $2950 reserve on Ebay. Should I just sell all the go-fast parts off it and then trade off a closer to stock Blast? 515 Kit, Stage III ported heads, bigger valves, Jims roller rockers, tach, Crossroads rearsets and fork stiffeners, Proseries intake, White Bros. exhaust, etc.

You need a focussed buying group - try beginner bikes.com (link in the thumper kv - links to stuff you can't find here) - they'll snap that puppy up in a sec - mention ezblast sent you - lol - mention what good order its in, all the goodies - alot of them are looking at used ordinary Blasts at that price - yours is a bargan! (if I was'nt already involved in my own Blast projects - that would be the one to pic up - I'm sure it will sell there. Fighting computer glitches all day - lol

Thats the speedo recalibration device, when the '00 rear pully was recalled, they went to a larger pully, so they put in a black box to correct the speedo reading.

Yea, I wondered about it too...so I asked my dealer, they set me straight. However, for the truely paranoid......big brother perhaps? NSA wanting to know where all the Blasts are? CIA? FBI? TCBY? the world may never know...

The HD dealer said my Blast is totaled. Most of the damage is cosmetic pushing up the repair price cuz those parts will have to be replaced.Would cost me twice as much to buy another new P3 and make it how I had mine.My other option is to take the money and buy a used Blast, but then I already have a used Blast which I bought new!
Anybody have any experience with buying back a bike from the insurance co after it being totaled?

(maybe the 44 mag will still be for sale!)

I am officially pissed off. My "dealer" just told me they will no longer support Buell after this summer. They will not order new bikes, they will not have parts. As of right now, they don't even carry basics like brake pads and foot pegs. I went in to price the brake pads (about $90 front and rear combined), which they do not have. they called the other store here in Shreveport, and they didn't have any either. I'd have to order them. In walks a 1%er, asking for a primary gasket for a 93 Sportser 1200. The salesperson walked in the back, and brought one out. They have parts for 11 year old (and older) Harleys, but have to order anything related to Buell.

Yea, i'm a bit pissed off.

Mmelvis, mine was purple, so like Rockbiter, I guess I was either a troublemaker undercover, or maybe just just a bit touched in the head.

Erik - contact your ins. folks - each has their own policies. Some you can purchase outright from, some have you go through the salvage company they sell the bike to.

Erik,

If you bought the bike back it will have a salvaged title and may be tougher to insure. You might be better off buying a newer low milage Blast and using the parts off your crashed bike to make it yours. Just a thought, but, I would ask for the crashed bike back, and we'll strip it of the parts you want to keep and put the stock stuff back on before it goes to the salvage company.

Keep in touch.

James

Hey fellas, I posted this in the Quickboard, saw it in Cycle World and found it interesting. Got to thinking that if they wind up making a V-Twin small enough it could possibly fit in the Blast with no problems. Looks like we're a ways from finding out though.

'My dealer' isn't carrying Buell anymore either.

Thank for the 'salvage'replies.Since I have the title in my desk drawer and its still insured I don't know how they can convert it to a 'salvaged' bike.I guess they could cancel my insurance!?
The only way I can come out even is to keep the bike.If I just take the money for it being totaled, I'll be out about $3000.
I keep ya posted!

PS I saw James' picture in the new FUELL.(Glendale BRAG)

PPS once more I got the 'now you can buy a nice bike' from somebody (with ins $),I HAD a nice bike! Reminds me of the old HD shirt that says "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand"!

Blast stolen in Vancouver, B.C.- Can you help Lorraine try and recover it ?

Lorraine's stolen Blast

STOLEN!

Friday, May 7th this 2001 Buell Blast was stolen from my home in Burnaby. If you live in the Greater Vancouver area and see this red Buell Blast around call the police and report it!

There is a BRAG reward of $1,000 to anyone that helps recover this Buell.

Info:
2001 Buell Blast
Colour: Red - plain, no decals
The after-market muffler makes it distinctively louder than stock.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for it.

Fella's, I'm upgrading to the Firebolt, hopefully the Red 12R. Looks like I'm gonna have to get rid of the Blast, either trade in and pay the difference or sell to someone. Have one guy interested in it already. You guys have really helped me with Blast knowledge. Here's mine again;

Well, I'm leaving the Blast fold and moving over to the XB12R. My youngest will miss the Blast, all my kids wanted me to keep it, wish I could, just can't afford it. I did however convert my next door neighbor and they are buying my Blast, it's going to a good home. I've taken their daughter for a few rides. Here's our last times spent on the little baby, along with our new joy in the household. I've told them all about BadWeb, told them to log and join in. They'll be moving to Barstow this week. I'll miss the little one.

Very nice! How about a report on how it rides in comparison with the Blast - besides speed - I'm really interested in handling differences, and feel on the road.

Well, I'm still breaking her in and I'll keep you updated, but right now, everytime I barely even turn that throttle, that back end wants to bite down and take off. On the way back, my wife followed me in the new Van, when there was no traffic, I did a little weaving from lane to lane. Wife asked me why I was doing that. "Honey, I need to warm the tires up, break them in." Oh, Okay. I love the way she handles. I might need to adjust the suspension a tad later, but right now she seems to be fine. When I'm feeling better and can get out there I'll let you know more.
